Planning a Disneymoon is Way More Fun Than Planning a Wedding...My First PTR

Josh's groom shirt came in the mail yesterday :woohoo: It is sooo cute! I think I might get a white tank top and one of those iron-on thingies that says "bride" so I can match :goodvibes. I also need to order my ears soon.

So the wedding is coming together. I am meeting with the officiant on Wednesday. I booked a movie theatre for the wedding ceremony and reception. As soon as the photographer I want starts booking for May, I will call her up and hire her. All we need now are the invites, the bridesmaid dresses, the flowers, the stuff for the candy buffet, the refreshments, the music (we are going the cheap route with this one and using an ipod. No $5000 DJ for us :lmao:), the wedding website, the tux, the professional hair stylist, and my accessories. Oh yeah, and I need to figure out when we are doing the rehearsal. Whew! This isn't over yet...

Awesome! Why don't you order the Disney Bride shirt for yourself too? I find it very cute.

A movie theatre, wow, that's original and interesting! I'm surprised you have to wait so long to book the photographer, here they book over a year in advance.

Good job on getting the ball rolling for your wedding. I should get back into it myself.

Thanks! I think the Disney bride shirt is cute, but those kinds of shirts don't really fit me right.

Most photographers around here book up to two years in advance. I just found a really affordable one (an actual professional photographer under $500...can you believe it?:lmao:) that doesn't book more than a few months in advance. I talked to the photographer and I really love her work:love:. She told me that they don't book out so far in advance because they want to make sure that they can make it.

Wow! Under 500$, that sure is a steal. Hope you can book her! :)

Yeah, me too. She said I shouldn't have to worry too much about them filling up on my date because my wedding is on a Sunday. Let's hope she is right!

Sorry it has been so long since my last update! Since the last update I have booked an officiant for the wedding :woohoo: I have also registered for the Disney Honeymoon registry. We are currently waiting for our gift card to come in the mail :)

My dad bought my mom, sister, and I our own cinderella coach necklaces:lovestruc! They hold a small pearl. I can't wait to pick out a pearl at epcot and put it in the necklace! Until then, my grandmother bought me a similar necklace a few years back, and it contains five different pearls that all fit in the cinderella necklace. Here is a picture:

The pearl inside the necklace is light blue.

I also found an old 2010 version of a DW guidebook. I bought it at Goodwill for $2 :goodvibes Here is a picture:

I haven't finished reading through it, but one part of the book really made me and my DF laugh. It is called "The Type A Spouse's Bill of Rights". My favorite one says:
"But I thought we were going to..." is a phrase that must be stricken from the discussion of any plans that had not been previously discussed as a couple

I had a little lightbulb go off the other day. My mom was showing me pictures of POR and at one point she said something along the lines of, "look at all of the drawers in the dresser". You see, on every vacation I can remember going on with my parents, they have insisted that I unpack my suitcase. I have a dirty little secret. I have no problem being "uncivilized" and living out of my suitcase :rotfl:. I might unpack my bags on this trip, I might not. I will probably take everything out of my bags except for my clothes. I might fold every piece of clothing and put it neatly in the drawers (after sanitizing them of course I have heard that some guests put nasty things in those drawers:sick:). I might throw the contents of my bags around the room and call it "honeymoon confetti":lmao:. Who knows? But the point is, I can do what I want to do, as long as it is fine with my new hubby. Of course, he has no problem living out of his suitcase, either

I am still debating over our last meal of the trip. I think I may change it to Yak & Yeti after all. The main barrier for this ADR was that I did not want to get stuck in the park and have to pay for a taxi. I was told (and correct me if this is wrong) that the busses for the resorts are supposed to run as long as guests are in the park. This means that if we show up at the bus stop at say, 8:30pm after the park closed at 7pm, we should still be able to get on a bus to the resort. Also, I have been told that the resorts look at the early morning and late evening ADRs of their guests to determine if they will need busses sooner than an hour before park opening, or later than an hour after park opening. Speaking of which, I need to link my ADRs to my hotel ressie.

Anyway, that's all for now. As always, thanks for reading!

Very pretty!

The pearl necklace looks very nice.

I got my Disney registry gift card very soon after I registered. I don't know if yours will look like mine, but it is so pretty! Nice blues and purples, complete with the castle, Cinderella's carriage and pixie dust!:goodvibes

Oh awesome! We loved our Disney Registry- we ended up with quite a bit on it, it was super awesome!

I would even put $25 on it here, $50 here (we signed up for the registry probably 9 months before we got married- partially as a savings plan for us).

I agree- the giftcard is beautiful! We still have ours...somewhere. :)

It's getting so close- you've got to be SUPER excited!

I caught a nasty cold a few days ago  My throat hurts so bad! I could really go for a dole whip or an American dream right now!

Good news: We booked the reception location :woohoo:. Originally, we were going to have a "mini" reception in the lobby of the theatre. We decided that this was going to be a little disappointing for guests that were wanting a real party. Soooo...we have booked a banquet room at a mexican restaurant. It has a dance floor, a huge sound system, a pool table, and a bar. Best part? The venue is free with a $500 food minimum. We are going to get mexican food party platters and pop (which, because it is a restaurant, includes free refills for all guests). We have decided to nix the alcohol because my DF and I are underage (as well as the majority of our guests). I think this will make some people a little mad, but someone told me that "if a guest can't stand going without alcohol at 2pm, they have bigger problems" :rotfl: Besides, this will keep the reception short (we are flying out at 6am the next day, so we will probably be leaving the reception by 5pm). My biggest worry is that the banquet room is only supposed to have room for about 70 people, and we are sending out 100 invites (some of those invites are to families with multiple people). Josh thinks that the space could easily squeeze 100 people (assuming the majority of guests show up, which they won't).

Our officiant has officially received our deposit and has sent us sample ceremonies and vows. Josh and I have started working on our vows :)

Back to honeymoon planning...So I finally changed our Cape May ressie to a 6:30 Yak & Yeti. I can't wait to try those cream cheese wontons :lovestruc

I need to figure out how we are going to bring stuff into the parks. This will be my first trip without a stroller. Should I bring a backpack into the parks (which won't be able to go on rides), or just a camera bag? I was thinking of getting some ID badge thingies to hold our KTTWCs around our necks. Is this a bad idea? Keep in mind, my DF and I loose things easily:lmao:. What is the safest, lightest way to travel in the parks? Here is what I am planning on bringing into the parks (feel free to make suggestions):

  • Our KTTWCs (obviously), photopass, and maybe a debit card (although I think we may just link it to our KTTWCs).
  • Some cash (I hate carrying cash, but there are places in the parks that only accept cash, right? Plus, I think it would be easier to tip our server with cash)
  • Cameras. We will be bringing a point-and-shoot everyday in the parks. Josh also has a $500 camera. We only plan on bringing this into the parks on World Showcase day in Epcot, and possibly a MK and AK day (but we won't be riding on Kali with it!)
  • Hand sanitizer and possibly sanitizing wipes for the tables (I have heard that some guests change dirty diapers on those tables )
  • Maybe a small mister fan that can clip onto a camera bag

My DH and I always bring a backpack with us. On our honeymoon in Disneyworld, some days both of us had a backpack, typically when we're in Disneyland, we only need one bag (it's alot easier in Disneyland when we stay on property to "run" back to the room then Disneyworld).

Our backpack's have always been able to go on the rides with us. DH carries a normal backpack (we got it at costco), and I carry a smaller backpack I picked up at AKL last year, although I need to get a new one because DH ruined it on a trip he took with his brother to Disneyland- but I digress.

I strongly recommend the backpack. This comes in handy when you make smaller purchases to throw things into your bag. Also, we would freeze water bottle's and throw them into our backpacks to have cold water throughout the day (it was June on our honeymoon).

I do wear my passport/KTTWC in a lanyard. I typically have that and my photopass card in the lanyard ready and accessible. We normally have a point and shoot camera, though this trip we're taking our new DSLR and 2 lenses and removable flash- so I'm looking into a camera back pack for this trip.

I also recommend bringing your sunscreen with you. Buying it in the parks leaves you with little choice and high $$$. We also tend to throw in some snacks because I'm a big Kashi fan, and like to sometimes grab a non sugary/salty snack :)

I also pack an extra shirt (t-shirt if I'm in a tank top, tank top if I'm in a t-shirt) and a hat.

Don't know if this is more info then you're looking for- but it's helped me. My main point is, backpacks are awesome and totally fit on all rides, usually in the basket they have or tucked in between your feet.

How big of a backpack fits on the rides? Are there specific rides that the backpack can't go on (TOT has no room for a backpack, right?). I was thinking of bringing a bigger camera bag that could maybe fit a small bottle of sunscreen (I usually don't have to reapply unless I miss a spot in the morning or I go on Kali).

My DF has a Canon SX10IS. I wasn't planning on bringing it into the parks everyday, but if there is room for it on the rides, why not? Do you think bringing a (kind of) expensive camera into the parks is a bad idea? I know people do it all of the time...

Here are the back packs we took to WDW for our honeymoon-

First, mine:
JennsBackpack-1.jpg

Mine is just a little bit smaller then a "normal" school sized backpack.

Second, DH:
DHBackpack-1.jpg

Sorry this is the best photo of it I can find. DH's is a normal school sized backpack. We went on almost everything and never had a problem with our backpacks, they went on every ride with us, both of them. I've never had this problem at Disneyland either, I've always been able to take my backpack with me on rides.

As far as the camera goes, I own a Sony A330, which is about a $600 camera. I've not been to WDW since I bought it, but it's gone to Disneyland with me on several occasions. When we go this May we'll also have another lense ($200) and a detachable flash for it ($200). These will also be going with us. I'm looking online for a camera back pack (I'm not a fan of bulky camera side bags myself, and am a HUGE back pack person- as you can tell :rotfl2:).

The only thing I can say about carrying the larger camera around all day- it gets H-E-A-V-Y. My Sony is actually lightest DSLR on the market (one of the reasons we went with Sony) but it still gets HEAVY! Bring a camera strap for it, so you can wear it around your arm or neck, when your taking lots of photo's and not doing as many rides (think World Showcase) you'll hate taking it in and out of the bag, putting the lense cover on and off... it's a lot different then using a point and shoot in a theme park.

Hope this helps!
