Planning a Disneymoon is Way More Fun Than Planning a Wedding...My First PTR

I love the back pack idea! You know me and bags...I LOVE them. Not going with me (won't you miss me :rotfl:) is going to be such a change. Not only do I have the stroller, but I carry so many bags. A backpack that you can stuff items in and is small enough for you to keep on your person (but not so small to set down and lose) is going to be what you need.

As for the camera strap..very good idea too! :thumbsup2 I figure it will be Josh who wears it, but if he doesn't already have a strap...I have heard that etsy has some nice ones.

:goodvibes

Last time we had a regular backpack, and a smaller one-shoulder backpack. Even the bigger backpack made it on every ride, including Rock' n' Roller Coaster, which turns upside down!

It was a bit too much though, so this time we are bringing two one-shoulder backpack. In it we want to put our camera, sunscreen, Motrin, wallet with a bit of cash and our KTTW, a bottle of water, and a small umbrella (DH doesn't do poncho). We also want a bit of room in it in case we buy some snacks to go, or want to leave our caps in it.

Sorry this is the best photo of it I can find. DH's is a normal school sized backpack. We went on almost everything and never had a problem with our backpacks, they went on every ride with us, both of them. I've never had this problem at Disneyland either, I've always been able to take my backpack with me on rides.

As far as the camera goes, I own a Sony A330, which is about a $600 camera. I've not been to WDW since I bought it, but it's gone to Disneyland with me on several occasions. When we go this May we'll also have another lense ($200) and a detachable flash for it ($200). These will also be going with us. I'm looking online for a camera back pack (I'm not a fan of bulky camera side bags myself, and am a HUGE back pack person- as you can tell :rotfl2:).

The only thing I can say about carrying the larger camera around all day- it gets H-E-A-V-Y. My Sony is actually lightest DSLR on the market (one of the reasons we went with Sony) but it still gets HEAVY! Bring a camera strap for it, so you can wear it around your arm or neck, when your taking lots of photo's and not doing as many rides (think World Showcase) you'll hate taking it in and out of the bag, putting the lense cover on and off... it's a lot different then using a point and shoot in a theme park.

Hope this helps!

Thanks! I think I will look for a smaller backpack or a HUGE camera bag that has room for more than just the camera. Our camera is pretty small and light compared to your DSLR (Josh's sister and father have Nikon DSLRs and they are sooo heavy). The only accessory we have for it is a microdiopter (sp?) which we probably won't have a use for in the parks. We will probably bring it in the parks everyday after all.

Oh! I forgot some things on my list. Sunglasses! I usually tuck my sunglasses into a bag when I go on the rides (I accidentally rode finding nemo with my sunglasses on and spent the whole ride wondering why the heck it was so dark :lmao:). I don't usually bring a whole lot in the way of snacks, but I will probably bring some of those powdered drink mixes to cover up the swamp taste of the ice water

Oooh! I need to bring tylenol and maybe some tums. I don't think we will be bringing a bottle of water with us, since we can get free ice water in the parks (and lugging bottles of water around can make the bag really heavy!). I am surprised that backpacks fit on the rides. I am just so used to going to the parks with a stroller and being able to dump any of our larger bags in the stroller before we go on rides. My DF and I don't really need as much stuff as a family with a five-year-old, though :lmao:

So I just had to post this because I am sooo mad:headache:. Josh went to a Superbowl party today to cheer on the steelers (I am not a football fan, btw). On his way to the Hooters that hosts the Steeler's fan club, he stopped at petco to pick me up a few things. Someone decided to slash his back tires while he was in the store:headache: Now normally, I would just say "that's tacoma. Stupid jerks" and leave it at that. But Josh has a steelers sticker on his back window. Also, someone decided to smash in the windows at that Hooters after our local news station showed footage of it at a Steelers rally. IT IS JUST A GAME, PEOPLE! Why do some people feel the urge to vandalize the stuff of people who just like the opposing team?

This is why I love Disney. No one smashes in your window because you like Belle and they like Cinderella :lmao: That is how ridiculous this whole thing is. When it comes down to it, someone slashed my DF's tires because they like a different team. How childish is that?

Hi Kira!
Your mom mentioned that you had a PTR going, so I thought I'd pop on over and join in.

Sounds like wedding plans are coming together! But I agree- the honeymoon is a lot more fun to plan!

I'm with you in wondering about the weather in May. We were in WDW last September, too- it was SO frickin hot! I really hope it's at least a smidge cooler (I'd even settle for just a little less humidity)

Your worry about losing something (namely the wedding band) struck home for me. I have a terribly story about my engagement ring, a beach on St. Lucia, and a GIANT wave.
But as long as the rings are sized correctly, you shouldn't have any problem with even the roughest rides!

I can not believe what happened to Josh's car- that is just ridiculous!

:welcome: I lost my engagement ring in a walgreens less than 24 hours after Josh proposed, so I can relate. Fortunately a nice checker found the ring the next morning, but I understand that feeling.

The problem with Josh's ring is that his fingers change size a lot (depending on temp). It will be hot in May (hopefully not too hot!) so his ring should fit just fine (it may be a little tight, but it shouldn't fly off).

We did WDW for half of our honeymoon, the other half on Grand Bahama. We should have stayed at WDW.... :headache:

Sounds like a great trip, and I'm sure you both will love it. Maybe we'll see you on Sunday night at MK!

(By the way... you're cute!) :rolleyes1

Yeah, we originally thought about going somewhere outside of DW, but decided against it. Disney just makes it too dang easy to stay on property

Ack! Sorry it has been so long since my last update. Here's whats new:

First, non-honeymoon stuff. We have the photographer officially booked :woohoo: Next step: reception deposit and invites. I have a deadline for the invites. My bridesmaids and I will be addressing invites on March 12th. The invites will officially be sent out on March 14th. Sounds like I have a lot of time, right? Nope. My future mother-in-law has yet to send me her guest list and Josh hasn't finalized his, either :headache:. Plus, I still need to collect addresses from some of my friends. Oh, and we haven't started making the invites yet.

I quit my job a few weeks ago and my boss officially found my replacement last Thursday. I am still going in occasionally to help with the more complicated tasks that the newbie doesn't know how to do. Still, I need to find a new job. One that doesn't involve cleaning rat poo off of plastic cages in the pouring rain  I did get a little mouse as a pet to remind me of my job, though. Her name is Millie Mouse (mice only live 1-3 years. I didn't want a pet mouse named minnie for this reason). She is a blue-and-white long-haired mouse. Here are a few of pics of her:

Josh and I had a wonderful Valentines day. He got me some gorgeous flowers and I got him a White's tree frog (as though we didn't have enough pets). I also made a nice dinner with white chocolate drizzled rice krispie treats for dessert (they remind me of Disney :goodvibes). The trick to making them look nice is to put them in muffin tins (rub the tin with veggie oil first). Here is a pic:

Now on to the honeymoon stuff. I got a little purse for the trip. It only cost me $2.50 at Target (it was on sale 75% off:)). It seems big enough for my KTTWC, a thing of chapstick, a small bottle of sunscreen, hand sanitizer (I have a thing from Bath and Body Works that lets the sanitizer hang on the outside of the bag), a small camera, and maybe a rolled up shirt or a water bottle. Here are a few pictures:

I got an email this morning from Delta. They changed our returning flight :headache: We were originally departing FL on the 24th at 5:15 pm. We were supposed to have about an 80min layover in Salt Lake City. Instead, they changed our flight to leave FL at 4:14pm and arrive at Salt Lake city at 7:27pm. The problem? Our connecting flight departs at 7:50 :scared1: I called Delta and fixed the flight. Now we leave FL at 4:30 pm and arrive in Atlanta at 6:11. Our connecting flight leaves at 7:10. That is much better. But of course, Delta can't make changing reservations easy. The lady who fixed the flight for me forgot to send me a confirmation email. I called back to politely ask someone to reissue a confirmation email. It was like pulling teeth. First, the lady insisted that I need to pay a change fee ($200 ). I told her (not so politely:rolleyes1) that Delta screwed up my reservation and that no, I was not going to pay a change fee. She then put me on hold for 30 minutes, told me that she could not figure out how to reissue my confirmation email, and then FINALLY connected me with a manager that could speak english. The manager told me that the first woman had done "something sloppy" with my reservation, and that she was going to "clean it up a bit and reissue my confirmation email". She not only sent me a new confirmation email, but also a new electronic copy of my tickets :goodvibes

Now I need to tell Disney that my flights have changed. I might as well connect my ADRs with my hotel ressie while I am at it (I still haven't done that yet).

One more thing: I got an email from the Disney Honeymoon Registry telling me that I need to activate my registry soon. I haven't got my gift card yet, so I can't activate it! I wonder if they automatically send this email out when a registry hasn't been activated and their records say that the wedding is in less than three months :confused3 That is the only explanation I can think of. I should get the card later this week.

That's all for now. As always, thanks for reading :goodvibes

So I know I just posted an update, but I wanted to share a few pictures with everyone. Animals are a huge part of our lives. We have 8 pets total. Four are amphibians, two are mammals (one cat, one mouse), and two are reptiles. Here are a few pictures of our animals.

IMG_2983.jpg

This is Dib, our cat. Isn't he handsome :lovestruc. A few years ago, our neighbors found a litter of abandoned, day-old kittens. My mother and I hand-raised them. Dib is one of those kittens. He is three years old :)

IMG_2796.jpg

This is Hypnotoad. He is a pacman frog. We got him a few months ago.

IMG_3015.jpg

This is the white's tree frog that I got Josh for V-day.

IMG_3034.jpg

This is Reptar, the terrestrial giant salamander. Josh got him and Pig from his work (when he worked at Fish and Wildlife).

IMG_3030.jpg

This is Pig, the aquatic giant salamander.

IMG_3020.jpg

This is our leopard gecko. My friend gave her to us a few years ago.

IMG_3025.jpg

This is Snakey. He is a corn snake. Josh's sister's friend gave it to him a few years ago. He is four feet long :goodvibes

And I have already showed you pictures of Millie Mouse. So that makes eight. I know I have too many pets :rotfl: Most of these pets don't take up much space or eat much food (well, I should say they don't NEED much food. Pig got his name for a reason ). Many of them make awesome beginner pets.

Dib looks gorgeous! :lovestruc The the mouse and the gecko are cute too. Can't say the same for the other pets though. :rotfl:

I wanted a mouse at some point when I was younger, but that was only because my parents didn't want me to have a cat. They changed their mind at some point. Now I have two cats. I posted pictures of them in my PTR.

Glad you got everything sorted out for your flight back home, though it sucks they changed it on you. We decided to pay extra to get direct flights, wanted to avoid the hassle of connecting.

Congrats on finding a photographer. Speaking of addresses, I have yet to send mine to my maid of honor so she can prepare my bachelorette. :rolleyes1

Rice Krispies treats look yummy. popcorn::

Mice actually make good pets. The only things I don't like about them is that a dirty mouse cage smells horrible (compared to a dirty leopard gecko cage). Also, they don't live very long. They are very active little critters. I love watching Millie add to her "nest" :goodvibes They aren't the best animals to hold, though. They don't have much in the way of bladder/bowel control. They kinda go when and wherever (surprisingly, the other animals don't do this). As for the other, "not so cute" pets, they have their own charms (they are so ugly they are cute ). We have so many because they are so easy to keep and feed. Their cages need spot cleaning (as opposed to a full bedding change like with the mouse) about once a week. They get a full bedding change every 3-6 months or so (depending on the animal). The tropical animals get misted daily. The snake only needs to eat once every two weeks, and the other animals get a handful of crickets once a week (they eat them throughout the week). They are soooo easy to keep.

I love Dib. If I had to pick one of my pets to keep, I would keep Dib (it is an easy choice). He is so funny and sweet. As I am typing this, he is rolling around on his back with his tail in his mouth :rotfl: I saw a picture of your cats. They are adorable!

We couldn't find a Delta flight that was direct at the times that I wanted. Their hub is in Atlanta, so usually connecting flights go through the Atlanta airport. I wish we were flying Alaska. Their hub is in Seattle, so it is really easy to get direct flights. Also, they don't change their flights nearly as much as Delta (I wouldn't be surprised if Delta changed our flight again before the trip). Alaska is so reliable. Their flights are rarely delayed. I am terrified that our Delta flight on May 16th will be delayed so much that we can't make it to our Boatwright's ADR (or worse, that we won't be able to get to the hotel until the next day :scared1:). I really prefer Alaska. We just couldn't find an Alaska flight at a reasonable price. Delta was waaaay cheaper.

Hi There!
I have been lurking a bit and I am loving your PTR so far! I just got back home from a 10 day trip at POR with my boyfriend- and I would LOVE to have a Disneymoon- there is so much romance there!! I am having Disney withdrawals... Everything just seems so much more magical there!

And I love the picture of Dibs... and his antics remind me of my DK (Disney Kitty)

P1000361.jpg

We caught this picture of her just before our trip.. I guess she doesn't know that Mickey is a mouse!! As I type this she is sleeping on a heated blanket next to me!! She is terribly spoiled because she is our only pet and our "baby" ...

Check out my TR- We had a million romantic moments during our trip!

Dib may not be our only pet, but he is definitely our "baby". That is an adorable pic of your cat. I love tortoise shell kitties :lovestruc

I will go check out your TR. I love hearing about romantic things my DF and I could do on our trip :goodvibes

I ordered my bride's ears this morning! They should be here by March 3rd :woohoo:

I am a little worried about my honeymoon registry card. It STILL hasn't come in the mail:confused3. I called the disney honeymoon registry people and they said that I can re-order the card and they will activate it for me (instead of making me wait for another two weeks). I decided to call again on Tuesday if it still hasn't come in the mail. It has been almost four weeks. Isn't that weird?

It is weird that you haven't received your card. It didn't even take 2 weeks to make it to Canada.

Hey Kira,

I was at Pop the same time you were, except I was in the building with Mowgli and Baloo on the arm that reached all the way towards the 70s building. I kept hearing your mom saying you were working on a PTR and I finally found it! I got a bag from ebags, which looks like a normal purse, but it had all these pockets and zippers. Boy I'm still find things I put in that bag for Disney!

Can't wait to hear more about your wedding and more importantly your Disneymoon!
