This is my first PTR so bear with me…

My mom is annmarieda. She got me on here to check out her PTR last summer, and I have been lurking on the boards since then. I am currently planning my Disneymoon, so I thought I would do a PTR of my own.

I have been a big Disney fan since I was little. I grew up on Disney movies (my favorite Disney movie of all time is Lion King). I first went to Disneyland when I was about 11. I fell in love with the parks, and have been on a Disney vacation almost every year since then. My last trip was to Disney World with my mom, grandmother, and baby sister. My mom's report of the trip is here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=38203296#post38203296
My Disneymoon is going to be my first Disney vacation without my family (not including my fiancé). I am so excited :woohoo:

A little bit about us

I am 20-years-old. I live in Washington State with my fiancé, cat, leopard gecko, corn snake, and pacific giant salamanders. I am currently in between colleges. I just received my AA degree and I am waiting for fall semester to start at WSU. At WSU, I plan to major in animal sciences and then (hopefully) move on to vet school. I am currently working at a commercial mouse breeding facility. I will spare you all the gruesome details of my job, but the general idea of my work is that I breed and care for mice. I find it incredibly funny that I pay for my Disney trips by breeding mice

Josh is my fiancé. He has never been to a Disney park. He does enjoy Disney movies, though (he shares my love of the Lion King and Pixar movies). We met when we were little kids. Our dads worked together, and so we saw each other at company picnics (we lived an hour apart, so we didn’t go to the same school or anything). We started dating when we were sophomores in High School and we have been together almost five years.

Disneymoon plans

We plan on going on our honeymoon in May 2011. We haven’t set a date yet, because our wedding venue date isn’t set in stone. Don’t get me started on wedding planning :headache: There’s a reason for the title of my PTR. Anyways…we have chosen Port Orleans Riverside for our resort. On my last trip, we stayed at Pop Century (I wasn’t fond of this resort btw) and we went to Boatwrights for dinner one night. I really loved the way the resort looked. The grounds are just beautiful. I also like that I can take a relaxing boat ride to DTD. Oh, and I think that a horse-drawn carriage ride would be a nice thing to do on our honeymoon.

We want to get the dining plan. There are a few restaurants that I want to try again. I loved Kona on the last trip but I was so sick from the heat that I had a hard time enjoying my meal. I want to go back and have the tuna oscar again :) I also want to get the fantasmic dining package at Mama Melrose. I loved being able to order an app with my meal. I think Josh wants to try Coral Reef (he is intrigued by the idea of watching the aquarium while we eat. He loves aquariums). I have had Coral Reef a few times. I have always enjoyed my meal, but the food has never been outstanding (and the service last time wasn’t great, either). I think it all depends on how many days we stay. I want to have at least eight full days in the park, but we might stay a little longer. I should know the dates pretty soon. I hope to book the honeymoon sometime this month after some of the wedding issues have been resolved.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Thanks for reading!

Suscribing. :)

I have to agree with you on your title. I'm much more enjoying planning my Disneymoon than my wedding. We had said that we would do more wedding planning during the Holidays, but of course that never happened. Even today, we started out with good intentions, only to quickly turn back to the dis, to checking flights, and to email our TA about the discount coming out tomorrow for Disney. :rotfl:

Yeah, I kept telling myself, "I will get more wedding planning done after the holidays". Well now it is after the holidays and all I want to do is plan the honeymoon! :rotfl:

debated joining in...or lurking. :rotfl:

It is really nice to read what you write...even though I kinda have a clue what is going on....

here is to the planning...which is half the fun!!!:thumbsup2

Hello everyone!

Ack...So I found out this morning on facebook that my maid of honor is moving across the country right before the wedding  I wish she had called me. I hate finding stuff like this out on facebook. I haven't been able to get a hold of her either. Every time I call she says she is "too busy" and she promises to call me back later (she never does). IMO, if she has time to post that info on facebook, she has time to call me.

I found out some good news today, too. Apparently I have a pin code that I can use on the honeymoon! :woohoo: This trip is keeping me from going nuts. Every time I get frustrated with the wedding, I just think "I am going to Disney World" :)

Hey everyone!

I went to a wedding expo today and got my wedding veil and dress! I also talked to the owner of our wedding venue, and got a date picked out :woohoo:! I know I should stick to stuff about the honeymoon, but there can't be a honeymoon without a wedding, right?

It was a very long and emotional day. I got poked and prodded by crazy russian dress makers (one even reached down the back of the dress and pulled up my underwear...giving me a wedgie. :eek:Eeep!). I also got flyers shoved in my face by overly enthusiastic (and expensive) D.Js and photographers. Oh, and did I mention the cake samples? Around every corner there were booths handing out sugary goodies. I just kept grabbing samples. By the end of the day, I wasn't feeling to good . But it was all worth it to make some much-needed progress on the wedding. I'll post some pics of the dress, veil, engagement ring, and wedding bands tomorrow. Thanks for reading!

Hello! The honeymoon has been booked :woohoo: The dates are set for 5/17/2011-5/24/2011. I am hoping to add an extra night on the 16th. That depends on the flight times we get (red-eye starting on the 16th, or the morning of the 16th). We are booking the flight tonight, so I should know by tomorrow.

Now on to the ADRs. I have only made three ADRs so far. I booked Kona for 8pm on the 17th. I love the tuna oscar there :lovestruc: I also booked Donald's safari breakfast at tusker on the 19th. I am excited to have that yummy juice again! Also, Donald is Josh's favorite Disney character. We are also going to Tony's on the 22nd at 6:35 pm

I am so torn between all of the Epcot restaurants! We aren't going to get park hoppers, and we plan on going to Epcot twice on the trip. That gives us two ADRs for epcot (I don't want to do more than 1 TS in a day). Coral Reef is such a pretty restaurant (and I think Josh would enjoy it) but the food isn't amazing. I really want to go to Teppan Edo. But what about Le Cellier?

I plan on booking the Fantasmic dinning package for Mama Melrose in the next couple of days (I have to call in to do that). I love the tuna and the antipasto at Mama Melrose  I am also going to book Boatwrights for one night. If we arrive on the 16th, we will probably go to Boatwrights that night. If we arrive the morning of the 17th, we will probably go on the 23rd after a short day at AK.

Here is a rough schedule of our honeymoon:

Fly to Florida and arrive at either 5:30 pm on the 16th or 8 am on the 17th
17th: Go to MK. Kona at 8pm
18th: Epcot 9am-9pm
19th: Tusker at 8am. AK 9am-6pm.
20th:HS 9am-9pm. Fantasmic dinning package at Mama Melrose. I hope this day won't be too crowded!
21st:Epcot 9am-9pm
22nd: MK 9am-2am. Tony's at 6:30, then watch MSEP and Wishes
23rd: 8am-7pm at AK
24th: Last day :( HS from 9am to about 1pm. Flight leaves at 5pm and returns at 11 pm.

So that's about it. If you have any suggestions for ADRs, feel free to share :) Thanks for reading!

Congrats on booking your trip! :goodvibes

I don't remember if you said you will have the dining plan or not, but if you do I believe you will get 7 table-service credits. That means you could add another sit-down restaurant. Iw oudl suggest doing a breakfast and a dinner in the same day.

Also, Le Cellier will be two credits for dinner by the time you go there, so you would have to eat lunch.

Of course, if you don't have the dining plan and are paying OOP, then forget what I just said.

Thanks! We are getting the DDP. I know about Le Cellier's change. I am kind of scared to book lunch because there are a lot of rumors going around about how they are going to change their lunch menu. I just love the mushroom filet mignon and would be very disappointed if I went there for lunch and they took it off the menu!

I think I did come up with 7 sit-down meals (two unknown epcot restaurants, Boatwrights, Tusker, Kona, Tony's, and Mama Melrose). If I spend an extra night at the hotel, I will need to come up with an eighth ADR. I was thinking of going to Yak and Yeti on the 23rd (instead of boatwrights, which would be done on the first night) but I would hate to spend precious time in AK eating a long dinner. With the breakfast, I will still be able to get a bus to the park, arrive at AK an hour before it opens, and be done eating shortly after it opens. I can't schedule a dinner for when the park closes, because the busses only run an hour later, right?

Oops, yes sorry. Forgot to count Boatwrights.

I think the buses run 2 hours after park closing, but I'm not sure. I plan on trying the Yak & Yeti counter-service on my next trip. That's something to think about as a compromise.

At Epcot I had dinner at Tutto Italia (good, but nothing special) and Tokyo Dining (which my fiance and his daughter loved). I think the food is pretty similar to Teppan Edo, just a different "experience".

Hello again :wave2: That's okay. I think I had to count my TS credits and ADRs at least ten times before I realized that I had the right number of TS meals planned :rotfl:

I have had Yak & Yeti counter service. Its okay. Its kind of greasy and some of the things there are way too spicy. But hey, its Disney QS. I wanted to try the fried wontons for dessert at the Yak & Yeti TS. They sound yummy.

I think I should check on the busses. I would love to be able to have a relaxing dinner at the end of the park day, and then wander back to the hotel. I just don't want to have to pay for a taxi :)

So I thought I would post a few wedding-related photos.

Here is my beautiful engagement ring and our wedding bands. I love how simple our bands are :lovestruc His and her matching gold bands.

This is my wedding dress and veil. Please excuse my messy hair and tired eyes. I had just woken up from a nap :)

This dress is completely handmade, and so it has some imperfections. I love it to death, though  It also needs to be pressed and cleaned before the wedding (the folds on the dress will be more obvious after we do this) and I need a petticoat to make it a little fuller. The veil doesn't match perfectly, so my mom is going to take beads that match the beads on the dress and stitch them into the center of the flowers on the veil. Oh, and my hair is going to be up for the wedding. I just thought I would stick the veil into my hair while we were taking pictures

So the flight has been booked. We are going to fly out at 6am (which means we must get to the airport by 4, which means we need to leave our apt by 3am ). We arrive at 5:30 pm and we are signed up for magical express. I have booked a boatwrights ADR for 9pm. I should be able to make that, right? I thought about adding an extra park ticket so that we could go to HS that night (they have an EMH until 10pm) but I think we will be too exhausted from our trip to spend even an hour in the park.

I still have to call in Mama Melrose for the fantasmic dinning package. I also have two Epcot ADRs to decide on and one more restaurant (either at AK or outside of the parks). If anyone has any suggestions for restaurants, feel free to share :) As always, thanks for reading!

So I finally called and booked the Mama Melrose Fantasmic dining package for the 20th of May :woohoo:. I also booked Coral Reef and Teppan Edo. I might have to cancel Teppan Edo if they aren't added to the DDP (right now, disney says it is only on the deluxe, but I have been told that Teppan Edo is one of the last restaurants to be added to the DDP). I also booked Cape May for the 23rd. It will be our last table service. I have heard pretty good things about this place, but I am still on the fence. I love crab, but I am not a huge fan of clams. Does anyone have anything to say about Cape May? I have a little while to decide, but I figured I might as well book it. I can always change it later.
