We are planning a 2017 vacation. We are trying to decide between two dates ranges:

1) May 30th through June 7th
2) July 11th through 19th

With choice number 1, we are hoping that crowds will be slightly lighter since it is after memorial day, but many kids will still be in school.

With choice number 2, the rates are less expensive. Although, maybe closer to the dates there will be some discounts that aren't currently reflected in the rates on Disney's website.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks!!
Jody

Definitley 1. It will be less busy, and better weather.

The only caveat I would add to this is early June is quite rainy. Not much more than July but it is the rainiest month. Just make sure you have a game plan every afternoon, take raingear, and get things done in the AM!

Happy planning! I would think early June might be slightly better heat wise but I am just speculating.

Weather is basically the same & never really know until 10D out & it still changes daily. Pack the same for both, weather/temperature. So weather not determining factor, but July is hotter.

May 30- June 7
Crowds are definitely lower, most schools are not out yet on May 30th. This year was out 1st time in 3 years not going week Memorial Day started, due to DD softball. Crowd levels have been better this week than in February for us. We've been able to ride certain rides multiple times with low wait times. Disney transportation, we've always been able to catch 1st ride during this time.

I was also going to mention the rain. We went the second week in June 4 years ago and it rained buckets.

Rain wise June is a hit or a miss. Sometimes it will rain and rain other times no. It all depends. I would certainly pick the first option. Crowds will be low and it'll be right before the summer kick.

We just did your first option this year - perfect weather and perfect crowd levels.

Just pack some ponchos with you and be ready for the rain if it shows up! (We didn't get any rain, so there you go.)

I've lived in 5 diff states (DH in 6; close family in a few more), and in all but one (NY), school is out by the end of May. It seems like the schools in the Northeast are the ones that are in session well into June. Most of our family/friends go on vacation as soon as school lets out (so late May/early June). But obv almost all schools (aside from year round ones) will be out in July.

Is there a time when foreign tour groups pick up? I've read July is a big month for them, so that may be a factor in higher crowd levels versus June.

Schools in the southeast are typically still in school through end of 1st week of June. DD @ private school so out before memorial day. After going the same time for 3 years, flying from same airport & staying @ same resort, we've seen familiar faces & new faces going this time b/c most schools still in since didn't start until September.
