Hi im new to this wondering if anyone can help me with any ideas to save money on pop century resort need two rooms trying to stay 10 nights but need to save money any ideas would really be appreciated God bless

How exciting! My husband and I are planning a family vacation at WDW around Easter of 2015. I'm in the same boat as you. I was told to plan things about a year in advance if possible.

Start a Disney Fund.
If ou got a raise, put the amount into your savings and not your checkbook.
Start decluttering and sell unwanted items in a rummage sale, Craigslist, EBay.
Ask parents or Grandparents for Disney Gift cards for birthdays and Holidays. Walgreens, Kohls and the Disney stores sell the cards.

Hi! I am a huge budget lover. I know. Weird!! I pay cash for groceries/toiletries and play a little game where I try not spend all the money in my envelope. What I don't use for that week, goes in my disney envelope. Love it! Have saved $200 that way in 4 months. It really makes me use my pantry. Lol

Depending on the logistics of your group, maybe you could stay in a family suite at another resort. I am not sure the price difference, but definitely worth checking out. Also, the Disney rewards visa is an excellent way to earn and save free Disney money.

I suggest putting your vacation dollars in an interest bearing account. While the rates are not good, it is free money.

I also suggest throwing as much as you can as often as you can into it. I will sometimes transfer as little as a dollar into my savings. While it isn't much, it does add up. And if it stays in the checking account it will get spent. In the savings account it will earn me free Disney money.

I suggest starting some rewards programs. I like MyPoints and Swagbucks. You could also do surveys. I have good luck with Opinion Outpost.

Hi there! its hard to predict prices for 2 years from now, but check out the prices for this year to get an idea of what you pay for high-regular-and off season. I think you can get rooms at Pop for about $85/night during offseason.

Another way is to buy your park tickets as soon as you can, so you won't have to deal with 1-2 price increases before you go. Depending on the number of people going, that could be a significant savings.

I would suggest either stopping at a grocery store or having Garden Grocer deliver some stuff to your hotel. Even if you get breakfast stuff, water, pop, beer (if you drink), and park/hotel snacks, you will save alot of money. We ended up not placing our order in time, but we wer eonly at Pop for 4 nights, so we would just buy stuff from the Pop cafeteria. It was just my bf and I so we would buy a couple of containers or cut up fruit, or a couple of apples, with a couple of muffins and a juice for each of us..would cost about $15 bucks and with lots of water that was enough to keep us going until lunchtime-better than paying $15/per person at a sit down breakfast. Plus, it saved time, because we would just eat while walking, or waiting for a FP time to arrive.

We would usually do a quick service meal for lunch, and then get a Pizza or sometimes split a meal for dinner back at Pop. Pizza was good because it served as breakfast the next morning :)

You can save even more money by not doing the QS lunch and bringing sandwiches, cookies, etc from the room for lunch. There are fridges at POP rooms so that can keep meat/cheese/mayo/veggies for sandwiches cold.

Another idea is smaller snacks rather than full meals. For example, my bf would each get a hot dog for about $5 each for lunch ($10), then we might split a plate of chili fries at about 4:00 for about $4...if we each ate a full lunch at noon, it would cost us over $20 and we wouldn't even be hungry enough to eat it all. On those nights, it would be a $15 pizza for supper/breakfast next day.

How many people are going, and what about your eating habits? If you are willing to forgo sit down meals and primary do quickservice or eat stuff from the grocery store, then you can save ALOT of money.

One of the things we do we have a grocery store that sells Disney gift cards and you get gas rewards for the cards. So any money we save on the gas we had to buy anyways gets put aside to purchase a Disney gift card . This then gives us yet another discount and that means more Disney cards. The same store sells gift cards for Lowes hotels , dinning , Tj Max , Kmart online shopping so before I buy something I look to see if they sell a gift card. We get food points for the gas so more gift card money .The same goes for shopping at the store I get points I can turn into gift cards. Its an extra step but in the last 2 mo . We received 180 in free gas and that worked out great because it was for weekend mini vacations with the kids.

Two rooms at Pop are cheaper than family suites . Also watch for free dinning for that amount it would be better than a room discount and don't forget you can call and ask if you have a pin .

You will learn a lot on the Budget boards. The first thing would be the Disney fund, it's fun to see how fast it grows. We also use the Disney Visa for all purchases and we paid $800 towards our trip this year and had $200 left on the card for extras. Make sure you pay it off in full every month or the interests will negate your rewards! If you can go when they offer free dining (usually sept) you can save a lot as well. Plus it's less crowded so you can do more. I made a list of things to do in order at each park the first year we went so I would make sure to see it all!!! DH called us comandos, but it was fun and we did it all! Birbaum's has some good books.

Also make regular visits to the codes and discounts sub-forum on the Resorts board. If there is a discount, they will know about it!

Make sure you are signed up with Disney's website, and order a free planning DVD. Then you might get PIN codes mailed or emailed to you.

I am hoping against hope to go in 2014, but it's looking more like 2015 for us as well! :)

We have a vacation fund and have been able to save $300 so far! About $100 of that was just change! Amazing how it can add up!

We will either get a condo off site (some great deals to be had!) or tent camp at Ft. Wilderness as that is the only on site way that is affordable for us.

We will drive and bring food with us to the parks with a few lunches and treats budgeted for. No souvenir buying for us though I may get some trading pins off eBay for the kids and make them an autograph book. :)

I constantly look out for coupon codes or deals that will stretch our dollars more! :)

I'm saving up for 2015 also (glad I'm not the only one!) :hyper:
I would start putting money aside & just reduce on extra spending (shopping, eating out as much, etc.)
I also got an online job at amazon mechanical turk & have made a bit of money doing simple online tasks! It really does pay :cool1:

I would do a combo of things. I would have an automatic transfer done on pay days. I get paid once a month and do 100/month. DH gets paid every other week and I have one that transfers $50 every other week. You can adjust that amount to fit your family.

I would also ebay/yard sale and put that money in the fund.

I would put disney GCs on family's radar.

I would do the Target Gift Card discount to stretch it further.

If you stay at home, I would look into mystery shopping and/or doing surveys for extra bucks.

I would sell anything your family outgrows.

My tips are purchasing DISNEY GIFT CARDS at Target (they really call them ENTERTAINMENT cards) and check out your grocery store. My KROGER had a great deal on Disney Cards. Save 10.00 on a 50.00 card, but you had to download that to your savings card.

Are you asking for ways to put money aside for your trip? Or are you asking about ways to reduce the overall cost of your stay? Those would require two totally different answers.

I know it is a little early but we are planning a trip to Disney in January 2015...does anyone know when they typically offer the free dining plans? :confused3
