right now til I believe Oct 7 you can join for $1 and then its $10.00 per month.
Has anyone ever joined this gym how is it?

I have been a member of PF for almost a year now. It is a great gym. They offer personal training (in groups) at no extra charge. Their equipment is nice and the other gym members are average joe's, not body builder types.

The first monday of the month is pizza night and the second tuesday of the month is bagel morning. :thumbsup2

I think it is a great first-time gym.

I am planning on joining and ditching LA Fitness (paying $42 a month vs $10 will pay for my Disney Annual pass over a year!).:cool1:

I just joined one by our house, it doesn't open until Nov 17th, so I can't tell you how good or bad it is. I figured for $10 a month and no comitment I would giv eit a try.

Oh and it is ALWAYS $10 per month. It is not a "you must sign up by Oct 7" deal.

I joined one near me about 2 months ago, and I like it a lot. This one is brand new, so it's very clean. They have lots of equipment too, I've never had to wait to use a treadmill, etc. I used to belong to Ballys, and I like Planet Fitness a lot better.

I've been with PF just over a year. I'm very happy with ours. It is a good solid gym - no frills, but all the equipment that you need. They also offer free sessions with the trainer in groups of up to 4, though I've done several sessions where I was the only person. It's the about the best $10 I spend every month. There is an additional $29 fee once a year for a renewal, but $150 a year is still a good deal to me.

I didn't know it is always $10 per month. We have one by me the next town over so as far as distance goes its not too far. Yeah, for $10 per month not a bad deal at all.

I did PF for about a year (until we moved out of state) and I really liked it. The only downside was that ours didn't offer classes, if you're looking for that sort of thing.

Both my DDs have memberships. They were just telling me that if you pay slightly more, you can go to any PF gym. I think it was $15/mo. I'm having a senior moment-sorry I'm not sure. I know it wasn't much.

I think its $20 to be able to go to any PF and that also includes unlimited tanning for those interested. I joined under the $10 plan and love it. I don't know if they all are but mine is 24 hours so I either go at 5am before work or 7pm to watch Phillies game and run. Very convenient. There started to be a shortage of treadmills at one point and they doubled the amount within a week. It seems they are always looking to make it better.

I've been a member for over 2 years now and I really like the gym. I don't care about frills at the gym, I just want to workout and they have nice equipment. When using the cardio equipment, my gym has about 15 large screen tv's all set to different channels so I bring my headphones and get to watch my favorite shows while working out. I also like that there are tanning beds there so I don't have to pay to go to a salon when I want to go tanning. Also my location is open 24 hours a day during the week which is awesome.
The only thing the gym doesn't have that I wish it did was a pool/hot tub and babysitting service, but for price i'm willing to work around that.

I loooove PF! It is clean and like someone else said it isn't full of body builders and my sister and I feel very comfortable there. I pay 20 dollars a month so I can bring a guest with me free! , unlimited tanning, and I can go to any PF gym I want. :thumbsup2

DH has been a memeber of PF since the beginning of the year and really likes it. I would join, but I'd like to do classes which ours doesn't have. They keep saying they are adding on and will have classes, but almost a year later, nothing has changed.

He joined right before New year's and paid $100 for the entire year. He got his friend to join in the middle of the year for the $10 a month as well. I think it is pretty much $10 a month all the time...but you can check their website for the details.

Ours doesn't have tanning either - I think it depends on each individual location.

I love it. I've been a member for a few months now. Like PPs have said, lots of people with various body types are there. That's probably my favorite part. I never feel out of place like I did at my previous gym. I've also lost a lot of weight since I've joined. I never have a problem finding an open treadmill or whatever I decide to use for my cardio workout for the day.

I forgot to add that I joined on my neighbor's recommendation.

Thinking about taking advantage of the $1 joining fee for Planet Fitness. Many of you have said you like it because it's mostly average folks, but I am 58 years old and am wondering if I would feel out of place here. Is this a place geared more toward young people or do you think I would be comfortable?

Thanks!

It is geared towards everyone. I thought I would be uncomfortable but I am not. It truely is an "average joe's" gym.
