We are flying to Orlando on the 29th September and return home on the 21st October. Originally we were flying out on a 747 and home on the new airbus.

Logged on today to submit a meal request for my daughter and saw that our return flight had been changed to a 747 :sad2:

Im disappointed that i wont get to go on a new airbus. Im also disappointed with the change in the seating too. Im now sat with my daughter (who will be 17 months) in a row of 2 and my husband is sat behind me. Not really the end of the world but annoying as it would have made life so much easier to be sat all together. The rest of the group are on the other side of the plane. :sad2:

Oh well - prehaps i'll stick my husband with Megan and have a large glass of wine instead :lmao:

Its so annoying when they make these changes especially when you have picked certain things to make life a little easier for you. Hope you still have a great time.

I love a pro-active approach :thumbsup2

Have they changed the times as well or is it just the aircraft that changed? Maybe you can see when online check in opens if you can shuffle the seats around to suit you better.

I fly home on the 22nd so went to check on VA and it won't let me retrieve my booking as it says the flight times have changed and I need to confirm this with VH first before I can log on.

I'm guessing the same has happened to this flight and where as I was looking forward to trying the new plane I'll be unhappy if we're not sitting together.:sad2:

I've tried to retrieve my booking with VH and surprise surprise the system has an error. :surfweb:

I should be used to it by now, i've flown with them alot and i would say on 80-90% of my trips something has been changed. Luckily for them with the amount of miles i have they are always the cheapest :lmao:

I didnt know i could change them at online check in! Will give that a go :thumbsup2

i cant even select seats as i have infants

We couldnt last time either. We've bought a seat for Megan on this trip so we are able to.

You had me worried there! I had to log back on to check my flight time :rotfl:
Mines still showing the same - im on the early flight back to London :)

Our booking gave the same message but when I rang VH to confirm the changes, our times just had a slight alteration and this was due to the A330 aircraft flying time being slightly shorter, so hopefully you should be okay

DH and I prefer the 747 over the airbus, we found the seats on the airbus were uncomfortable :)

Laura - are you flying PE?

We have done:
  • 2 in front/1 behind
  • 1 in front/2 behind
  • 2 and 1 across

Our preference if you can change is 2 and 1 across followed by 2 with 1 in front as I can then hit DH to get his attention!

Don't forget you can the infant seat with the 5 point harness - DD liked these as they were her 'special seat'

We are flying PE. The idea of hitting DH so i can get his attention sounds good to me :lmao:

At the moment it is showing as all PE seats fully booked so i cannot move our seats around, but i will try at online check in and see what we can do.

We are flying as a group of 7 so they have put us downstairs so we are all together. Is upstairs alot better? I worry about going upstairs incase DD gets upset on the flight and disturbs everyone else as i know people book the 'bubble' as its quiet. :guilty:

They did mention the Infant seat when we booked but do i need to do anything special to ensure we get one? Or will they just allocate us one when we board?

Hi

we are flying back on the 21st as well and it is showing the 747 for us as well, though we are booked out on the airbus :confused3

Reading around there are all sorts of issues going on in Virgin Atlantic at the moment and I am sure there will be more changes, just how many will eventually become clear.

I just checked on our flights after seeing this and note that our return flight, booked for the 10th June, has also been changed to a 747.

Naievely (cant even spell that!) I booked flights on dates because of the new planes and could have had an extra day had I known!! not looking forward to the drab return flight now!!

Theyve kept us in the same configuration on the new flights which is something but it would have been nice to be notified when the change was made.

thanks for the heads up!!

Update - so I turned the negative into a positive and just upgraded to PE and the Bubble for the return trip - was only £179 a head M+M (or 1 night at OKW!!) which included the change charge so not all bad!!! Nice way to end my 40th birthday trip!!

The infant seat I used to request when we booked However last couple of trips didn't bother as I always had to ask the crew for it when we boarded. As PE boards first just ask as soon as you get on.

I would not worry about being in the bubble. We always try to sit up there - DD was 9 months on her first flight in the bubble as has been every 6 months since. I prefer it for the extra wide aisle as we can get up and walk around easier.

You will be fine either way kids seem to cope really well as long as you are relaxed! :lmao:

Laura We too have used the infant seat, I always call virgin at book it but I have had to ask them for it on board too. Its great as you dont have to lift the child during take off and landing into a lap belt. Our children have been in the bubble, I really would not worry about it, I always see a few children up there.
