Just reported from reliable twitter poster.

"Per security staff, metal detector screens are now mandatory for everyone entering Epcot. More machines coming."

Anyone noticing anything different today?

Not at WDW but seems DL has lines all the way back to world of Disney with all security open. Not sure if it is due to something similar but will report if that is the case.

Just came in. Construction wall next to joffrey is down. All no bags asked to scan except smaller kids. My daughter with bag scanned but she said normal some getting pulled.

Doesn't look like they moved anything to say everyone getting scanned in the future.

There was some heightened gun activity in orlando earlier this week, i think its just being more cautious for the right reasons.

Took an extra minute, no big deal.

DL was just the sheer amount of people. Took my friend an hour to get through security.

One of the days that we were at MK last week, they sent everyone through the Metal Detectors. I think it was when we went for RD & the Welcome Show so it might have just been a RD procedure since so many people are crammed so close together. Really didn't add much time. They were pretty efficient.

Last week at MK I was told they were moving to screening everyone (or at least everyone except kids).

Seems impossible to do without more metal detectors though.

On Monday we were there early to do Keys to the Kingdom tour and didn't carry a bag-noticed all people with bags were sent through metal detector that morning but that was the only time I noticed it all week.

I just entered Epcot as a guest and didn't go through a metal detector.

I worked here all day and did notice more, but not all, no-bag-line guests being pulled for it.

Rupunzel and sleeping beauty are just past ticket scan at international gateway so if your a family, even more time to get in now...

Nice touch though, ill post pics when home tonight

Visited Epcot mid week last week and it seemed all guest without bags were sent through a detector (me included). Still looked like those who had bags checked were just randomly selected for the metal detector. It was the same at both the main entrance and international entrance.

So if you don't have a bag and you go through metal detector, do you remove everything that's in your pockets?

I was afraid of that. Is it still faster going through with no bag now that everyone or random scanning is being done? I was planning on not carrying a bag to make entries faster.

I forgot I mentioned I would post a photo. This angle is the best to show where near the entrance Rapunzel was. Sleeping beauty was a little further away and I didn't have a good picture of her.

It's really painless. There is a bowl and the security will ask you to put everything in your pockets in it, except loose bills (so they don't blow away). you walk through and pick your stuff up. It's really a couple seconds and with someone else in front of you now, you have a moment to have everything out of your pockets by the time it's your turn.. I think there was 8 people that walked in with me, I was done in less than a minute with 5 people before me. It took me almost 5 minutes to get through the ticket turnstyle, that's the bottleneck right now, security is doing a great job getting everyone in fast..

Of course it really depends on how everyone else is acting and doing, if your surrounded by pack rats who think disney is a 10 day survival camping trip then it might take some more time.
