Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

Can someone confirm if we can book with a 15 minute overlap? Can that be done with the initial purchase or will they need to be individually modified afterwards?

Yes after your experience window expires you are able to make a new one and Tiers are gone. It is always up to 3 rolling cycle.

Dave

If you don't tap in, the booking will expire at the end of the stated return-time window, and you can then book something else (includng a tier 1 if that's still available).

Andre
Thanks. I wasn't sure. It has been awhile since the FastPass pretrip booking days and having to readjust to the new system.

I dont have a reservation or anything, just playing w the app but have a question. If I click to purchase a multipass etc it says I am not on US soil. Is this just because I dont have tickets or is there a deeper issue in my settings somewhere? GPS is turned on so just curious. Again, not going any time soon, just curious

All the people who have said this is so easy, I got everything I wanted. I think some of it, is like an easter egg hunt. First ones out the gate, there are eggs all over the place, the people 40 feet back are only going to find 1/2 the eggs laying around. Soon, people will need to really look for the rides they want.

Once more people start to figure out how to use it, it may not be so easy peasy.
I think there may be validity to your concerns, however, this felt so similar to the old fast pass system where we booked 3 in advance. I imagine things will smooth out over the next couple of weeks. The ease of the app and selection has been really easy and intuitive, so I applaud Disney for that functionality.

If you are in the US with your location turned on then you might need to update your app.

Does it say anywhere in the information about lightning lanes that if you don't use the first one booked (tier 2), when you are eligible to make a new lightning lane for another tier one?
The tiering appears to only be for the initial 3 reservations for the day. After the first one is used or expires, there really isn't tiering any longer. You can book any tier, any park.

I just did this. Go through the modification process. It will appear you are modifying for everyone. However, the very last step is "who is this modification for". I saw my list of names. Oddly there was a blue oval button in the upper right above the names but there was nothing in it. I clicked it and was then able to select the people that the modification was for. Personally, I think selecting who the change is for should have been in the first step but here we are!
Thank you! That was definitely not straightforward! I never would have figured that out without your help! I got it done!

I had the same thing.............so I uninstalled and re-installed the app........fixed it for me

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure if I did an early booking of a tier 2 that I might not use, I would be eligible to try get another tier one as soon as that one expired.

Will you be able to make a reservation and then modify it to add more people? Or is it only to modify time? (obviously can only add more people if still available)
That function does not appear to be an option.

You are able to modify and move select members of your group to another experience but no know way to add anyone new to an existing. Not sure why you would expect to add anyone. It is not a slinky process (bad phrase but it seems to fit the question).

I think the app and the process are surprisingly smooth.

What I am not liking so much at this early stage is things like Haunted Mansion already being unavailable. That was NOT happening this early in the day with Genie+, IIRC.

Still, it may be the first day rush and things will settle out over the coming weeks.
This takes us back to FP tiers, when certain Tier 2 rides always got fully booked way before certain Tier 1 rides.

Right now, especially in both MK and HS, it seems really obvious which two rides are the 'best' Tier 2s to book first, so those will disappear quickly unless Disney moves one Tier 1 down to Tier 2.

I imagine Disney's strategy is to make sure there is always at least one good Tier 1 available, even on the day of, so that people still buy MLL.

Just from my initial impressions as someone with an AP that takes last minute trips. This system is horrible. If I’m looking at this Friday for instance: selections are terrible and times are terrible. Ugh. Again (as with FP) it rewards people with long trips booking for 7 days (keep in mind that those who got stuff for the next 3 days….you only got that because it wasn’t available before today- in the future you won’t be able to get those selections). Beyond disappointed.

This is true- I think more was/is available today b/c no one has had an opportunity to book before today.

I def think Smuggler's run could have been a Tier 2 in HS

My specific question about park hopping is the different pricing… if I start in AK and pay $17 (priced that for a random day in August), use all my passes, then decide to hop to MK - will I have to pay the $10 difference (MK at $27 for the date I was looking at) or will it still be $17?

In my opinion, all parks should be priced the same for park hopping… because this makes no sense.
By the time you use your passes (have to use all 3 and be in the second park,) there will be little availability (esp. Tier1 rides).
