Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

I just watched a video and the blogger said the same thing happened to him. He saw a 9:05 (say) Slinky but it wouldn't let him book it. He said the system won't allow you to overlap until you are in the park, so he modified another attraction and was able to snag the Slinky. He said that's why it shows it's available but won't allow you to book it.

Overlap seems to be working on the day of your visit and not before your visit. No need to be in the park.

@HyperspaceMountainPilot I did not read it that way since the post from @DLRExpert did not seem to relate to the post they were quoting. Maybe @DLRExpert will stop back by and expand on their post in more detail.

Wanted to share my experience today since I have followed along and learned so much from this thread.
We are staying on property so booked 7 days in advance of our 8/2 resort check in. We are a party of 4. Today was our first park day. Started at DAK and hopped to MK.
Prebooked:
Navi 8:25
EE 9:05
Kali 9:45

-Used Navi then booked Space Mtn 1:50
-Used EE then booked Dinosaur 10:45a
-Rode Kali at 9:20ish with no wait so changed LL to Haunted Mansion 4:10
-Got to Dinosaur by 10:00 so didn’t need LL. Was able to change to Tiana 7:05 (with a little refreshing)!!

Was able to continually book several LL in MK as I used the ones I had:
Buzz, IASW, Pirates, Under the Sea
I had a BTM for 9:20. It went down at 9ish and I got a multi pass good for all 4 parks for tomorrow! We have LLMP tomorrow for DHS. We are hopping to Epcot and the multi pass works on Remy’s!

I did find the availability of rides and return times started to diminish after 11:00. I still had decent success until 4ish with MK rides.

We have a 14 days stay with a party of 6. Does the system holds all my selections for the entire 14 days in one transaction or I should select and pay each day separately?

Is the general concesus here that I should be selecting the single passes first?

Thanks

I believe the system will force you to pay for each day before you can proceed to the next day.

I don’t think you should select single passes first unless you have a narrow specific time you are trying to get. I believe the consensus (so far) is you should book your day with Tiana Bayou Adventure first and Slinky Dog next after that.

You only have 5 minutes to complete your transaction after making your day's selections. The time left is show on the top line of the MDE app. If it times out you have to back-out your selections and try again. If you are planning for all 6 of you to follow the same schedule then book your LLMP and LLSP based on your daily park selection.

Your initial 3 LLMP selections and your 2 LLSP selections per day can be quickly processed within the 5 minute window in a single transaction if you want all 6 people traveling together.

Is the general consensus here that I should be selecting the single passes first?
That really comes down to a personal choice but since you have a long window to get all your LLSP selections covered. I would suggest you just focus your LLMP selections for each day.

If you are planning on hopping to a park and want to book your rides for only that park, can you? We are starting off at Epcot for a short time, and plan on spending the majority of the time at the Magic Kingdom. I was hoping to book Magic Kingdom rides. Does that not work?

Do we know when Tiana’s is selling out yet? I tried to check thrill data and can’t seem
To figure it out… 5 days out? 8 days 10?

Yes it works very easily. Just pick your 3 initial MK rides and make sure to select times after you will be at MK. As a reminder MDE will only hold your selections for 5 minutes so don't spend to long picking a perfect itinerary for MK.

STOP BELIEVING CHAT. Open AI is correct more often than Disney chat.

Search this thread for split stay and you will see successful reports for length of split stay.
LOL! I wish I could turn that Open AI crap off.

This may be one of those things where the current split stay overlap is not the way the it was intended to be set up and the programming will be changed at some point soon. That could explain why CMs are saying split stays have different booking windows. Given their treatment of split stays for dining, I wouldn't be surprised if we see this change in an update in the coming weeks/months. I mean, we all remember how crazy G+ stacking was for the first couple weeks!

Thanks! We will be sleeping in and arriving to Epcot whenever we can get motivated. So I can't really plan any rides for that park, except for maybe doing a Guardians single pass. So it sounds like I can do that, and then plan the multi pass for MK. Thank you!!

Correct you can make your 3 initial LLMP selections at MK and your Guardians LLSP at Epcot all on your initial advanced purchase day. Since your LLSP choices can be at any park if you have park hoppers for a max of 2 LLSP per day per Guest.

When this is done, which park price are you paying? MK or EPCOT?

A bit of a scramble for me making my selections today. I had 9 days to book. 3 people booking in 3 accounts. The same credit card on all the accounts. I called the credit card (DIsney VISA) ahead of time and warned them 9-12 charges totaling $1500 in a small amount of time on Sunday morning. Cards got rejected from husbands account (he is a named person on the account) and son's account (he is not named on my credit card account) Furthermore, my husband entered a different credit card and it wouldn't take that either. Bottom line -- I was the only one who could book. Also, I got one fraud notice which I told them to push through, but I need to call them, because it may have been a charge for one of the purchases that DIsney rejected. I have to wade through all of the receipts.

I made two mistakes -- on a DHS day I forget to hit select all. I didn't cancel. I was able to book for the others within 5 minutes of my times, including Slinky. The other mistake was I booked TRON for all 4 of us instead of just 2 of us. Not sure what to do about that. It would be nice if husband and I could just hand over our bands to the boys to ride again but I think that's a no-no, so I guess I'll ride it.

I had no problems getting LLSP. I don't think it is necessary to get them first.

I did cancel my ADRs and rebooked them after I was finished this morning. I only had 4 and I checked to make sure there were lots of openings before doing so. I probably didn't need to do this for the later days of the trip, but it helped with the beginning days.

I was able to get every ride I wanted, but not every time I wanted. I wanted Mission space before noon on my first day. I couldn't get it. My rides times on my 2nd day, DHS, are all over the place, but I do have one at 10:40am -- but this day didn't get booked right at 7am because of the credit card issues.

After you finish booking, I suggest that you go into My plans on your laptop. You can more easily see who was selected for each ride

You'll need to pay the price based on the park you're making the first 3 reservations. In your case, MK. The system has no way of knowing which park you're going to first, but does know where you are booking first. Paying for MK allows you to make 3 selections in advance at MK.

You pay the price for the first park you enter. In your case you will pay for Epcot you can hop to MK for no additional fee.

OK - I've read reports of that not being correct. I don't like to give bad info, so now you have me wondering. How would someone pay for EP and then book at MK for their first 3? I'm sincerely trying to get this right and thought I had this part figured out, or i wouldn't have given an answer.....

It is my understanding the only way to pay for EP and get MK rides is to have at least one selection at EP, go there, tap in and then change your other selections to MK.
