Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

I understand your frustration. WDW has historically offered better “deals” to international guests (free dining in the past offered only to UK for example). Do you feel the same way about that?
It probably sounds like a great deal, but we guess that the FDA is in the pocket of the US food conglomerates and allow all kinds of hideous stuff in US food. UK isn't much better. So I cook meals from scratch in my DVC kitchen and avoid most ultra-processed "food" (it's not really food).

Take McDonald's salt sachet. Just contains salt? No. Four ingredients. If it wasn't so scary it would be funny.

Ingredients: Salt, Sodium Silicoaluminate, Dextrose, Potassium Iodide.

I'll be curious to see if people with MNSSHP-only tickets for any given date will be able to book LLSP for Tron or 7DMT during the 4-6 pm window. I know what has been published, but I'd like to see if it plays out that way in real time.

TRON and 7DMT have been selling out so early, it's maybe a moot point.

Although...last year I had a 8 day resort reservation, 6 day ticket and 2 party tickets .... would I be able to book all 8 days, even though 2 of those days I entered the park with only a party ticket.

I'm more curious about TRON, but if I can get it during our 7 days out window with our party tickets, then we don't have to prioritize finding the sweet spot for the standby line. I'm ok either way.

As for your second point, that's what I'm curious about. Can I book LLSP with those party tickets? I will guess we'll find out soon.

So our Tiana reservation that started at 4pm just disappeared. No anytime fast pass. It's currently closed. All I can see is that it's allowing me to choose from the available offered fp experiences to replace it. 🙃 NOT a good solution. Was able to grab an 8:30 Space Mtn, but everyone is super bummed. Usually they gave you a "free" pass good for any Tier X attraction at any time. Not just from the dregs of what is left in the system.
Oh I hope this isn’t a new change but just a weird error. I now it’s been reported that a number of rides were down today for varying amounts of time. I wonder if some stop gap is built into the system for a day like this. Could Disney IT be that calculated???

If you do go to customer service, please let us know the out come.

I'm on my way back to the park for blue umbrella. It sounds like this is NOT the new norm. I talked to IT on the phone, but they can't help me. Just confirmed that it's not supposed to work that way. Will update.

Back in the G+ days, Test Track went down and we didn’t get anything more than the ability to book whatever was leftover.

Last year we went to one of the first MNSSHP. We were only using party tickets for the day. I was able to buy Genie+ and book ILL$ for Tron, stacked LLs for Space, Buzz, and HM for the time between entry and park close at 6:00pm. By the next Halloween party, they had closed that loophole and no longer allowed Genie+ to be purchased with only a party ticket.

I hate that you had such an awful start to your day! I started today in Frontierland (didn’t rope drop- got in around 9:10) and felt like I did so much before noon. Granted, I only stayed on the left side of the park so I wasn’t part of the mess in Tomorrowland/Fantasyland.

Like you, I basically purchased LLMP to ride Tiana, so I wanted to make sure I was close by in case I opened. Grateful and lucky it did by 11.
I'm glad you had a good run! You can't anticipate these things. I wish we would have picked to do Frontier first, but you never know. We were early enough to be front of the pack for 7DMT and would have had about a max 10 minute wait if it had been open, but instead had ridden a big fat zero by 9AM when they confirmed that it would not be opening for at least an hour. 🙃 So basically we rope dropped People Mover 😂

Good question. If anyone finds out, please let us all know.

I posted above about my experience last year.
Noted. But I assume MDE knew you had only a party ticket for that day. Also, LLMP may do it differently from Genie+. With Genie+, you couldn't book more than one day. With LLMP, if you have a 8-day dated ticket and a 10-day stay, how does MDE know what 8 days you are going to the parks? Will it stop you from buying another after you buy 8? Maybe, but maybe not. I'm still interested to see people report on their experiences if/when they try it.

I was surprised they stopped allowing it, as they lost out on quite a few dollars in Genie+ and ILL$ purchases. They also didnt allow it for Jollywood Nights. Not really sure why they wouldn’t let guests pay for the pricey party ticket AND pay for Genie+.

When it was FP+, the system knew. I couldn’t book all 14 days of my stay with a 10 day ticket.

Of course, now you’d have to pay, so I don’t know why anyone would try, other than a party ticket.

I'm so disappointed Disney has hacked all the meet and greets off the list, especially since these are the only thing my disabled loved one likes to do, and they already cut them out of DAS! "It's okay, we'll just but the Lightning lanes for it" we said. But no more lightning lanes!

At least stand by wait times for meet and greets should be lower if only DAS users can access lightning lanes.

Anyone that has been there in the last few days, how long are the LL lines? Are they relatively short (5-10 mins) or longer? Just wondering if there are fewer LL passes offered, are the LL lines shorter? Thank you!
Short. 5-10 minutes. Only ride that took longer was MMRR at DHS because after the merge with the regular line you go through another room to enter the pre-show. Then the preshow has no line and then there’s a line after the preshow.

Question: does anybody know how long the system is blocking off for a dining reservation to prevent overlap?

We will be visiting Hollywood Studios in the evening, with a 5:00 pm dinner reservation. The system spits out the earliest time, and when trying to modify to evening times, should I look for 7:00pm hour slots?

TIA!
I tested this and as far as I can tell, it allows overlaps and it will be up to you to monitor the times work. For example, I had an 11:50 ADR AT Sci-Fi and booked the Frozen sing along, which had a return time of 12:05-12:20 for the 12:30 show. So it allowed me to book it with only 15 minutes into my meal ADR. I also had an overlap with my lunch at Skipper’s Canteen where the last 20 minutes of my LLMP window overlapped the start of my lunch ADR.

I’ll have a 7 day resort stay but a 4 day ticket. It’ll be the Florida resident ticket so I haven’t bought it yet I’m not sure if it makes you pick a day to start it or not. I haven’t bought one of these in a long time I’ve been an annual passholder the last couple years. When the window opens will it go off the first day I’ll be going into the park or from my first night on property?

Also what’s a better order for the parks, doing Epcot for the first day or animal kingdom? We will be doing magic kingdom twice but at the end of the trip
Not sure about Florida, but the regular 4-day magic ticket required that I select the first day of use. No issues with the system recognizing my ticket on July 24.

Thank you for your report! I truly appreciate the time that you and others have taken to help out the rest of us.

You used Millennium Falcon as your prebooked tier 1, and note the it was available to book a second time. Are you only noting that it was available during the day or are you saying it was available to YOU to book a 2nd time? I was under the impression you can only book a ride once.

The app shows availability and makes it seem like you can book again, which surprised me as well. But when I tried, it let me click on the time but then on the next page where you select which people, our names were greyed out and it said I had already rode it with LL that day. So booking the same ride multiple times aren't actually possible, it just looks that way and can be kind of deceiving. Got me excited for a while though when I first saw it :rotfl:
Yes, exactly this. You can see return times for all rides, even the ones you’ve already used your LLMP on, but trust me, once you select it, the next screen tells you the guest already used LL for that ride. Trust me, I tried! 🤣

Hello, thank you all for the updates and information. I have a couple questions and I am sorry if they have been answered before. I didn't find the answers but have not read the whole thread.
1. Can you cancel/get refund if you purchase in advance and then decide not to use it? I mean in advance not day of. my window will open on July 31 and I have 6 park days planned. I hate to waste money we decide half way through we want to start at a different park, or if we don't want to go all day and don't need it for a day.
2. My daughter really wants to ride Tiana. I have a dining reservation that is not really that important on one of the planned MK days. I also believe the ADR could be rebooked easily. Would it be beneficial to cancel it so as to not have the system block out time?

Thank you for any and all replies
No refunds.

You can cancel most ADRs up to 2 hours before.

I’ll throw my question in here as well.

We will be staying on site so we will be able to start purchasing LLMP 7 days out from our check in day, for the length of our stay. That I understand. However we plan on going to the parks on our check out day. Will I be able to purchase LLMP at the 7 day mark for our check out day?
Yes, you will be able to purchase LLMP for your check out day.

Has anyone confirmed whether or not there is a grace period for tapping in at an attraction for either LLMP or LLSP? Is it 5 minutes before and 15 minutes after like it was in the old days of FP+?
I tapped 5 minutes early. But was too chicken to try tapping after the window ended. 🐔

I loved spending the morning and afternoon at the resort and stacking for the night at the Studios. I probably won't buy it now because it's kind of pricey to most likely not get Slinky and MMRR. I can't choose between my two favorites. It's like picking my favorite child. :rotfl: :rotfl:
I was able to get Slinky and MMRR. Booked Slinky and as soon as I did my first tap, booked MMRR.

We booked 7+3 to 7+6 days out and I'm (unpleasantly) surprised that "Modify" doesn't seem to work very well. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong?

Here is what I've been trying to do - I feel like I must be missing something. For stuff in the future (not day-of), to see available times, I click on what I want to change (let's say Haunted Mansion, 10-11 am), then I click on "Modify Selection." Then it shows me better times than what I have (e.g. 9:40 am) - great! I click on, "Change to This Time." But now it gives me a new window with a much later time (like 12:15 pm), and a message - "Modify Time - Please note your arrival window has changed."

I don't like that time, so I go back and repeat this process. Once again, it shows me the same, better time that I saw previously (9:40 am) - great! I pick that better time again. Once again, it gives me a new window with the much later time (12:15 pm), and the same message - "Modify Time - Please note your arrival window has changed."

Note that I don't have any earlier time that would create an overlap. Why can't I get that earlier time? What am I doing wrong?

I am worried that this will also happen on the day-of. When we can see earlier times available, will we actually be able to get those times?
I definitely encountered the situation where a sold out one suddenly showed a time and no amount of tapping on it got me to get it. And then I would refresh and see it again and try again until it wouldn’t pop up again. My guess is that there were multiple guests trying to grab it at the same time.

I will mention that when people say they saw a tier 1 ride pop up, that doesn’t mean much. The real test is not whether it popped, but whether you were able to book it.

Thanks for your first hand report on how APs are working currently.

Well it is working as Disney IT programmed it based on the fine print from their LL Info Page. Not very AP friendly since they chose the 3 day without allowing for your Park reservations that they require. So you are waking up before 7 every day to book your limited 3 day window in advance each day.

*Annual Passholders and Guests with tickets that are not date-based may purchase Lightning Lane passes for any day within the 3-day purchase window. When staying at a Disney Resort hotel or other select hotel, Lightning Lane passes may be purchased 7 days in advance of your stay.

From a programming point it makes sense but is not any benefit with the 3 day advance purchase window. They are allowing date based tickets and checking the lenght of ticket with the 14 day rule.

No you are not doing anything wrong as a couple of posters have already replied to your post this morning. Just the rules that Disney IT programmed are not very friendly for APs and other non-dated tickets. They don't allow you to actually make pre arrival LLMP / LLSP based on the length of your ability to have up to 5 days of park reservations based on your AP ticket type.

:chat: :sad2:

Dave
I thought I had this all figured out but now reading this I'm not so sure. Do AP holders staying onsite have to book one day at a time, seven days in advance, or does staying onsite allow us to book the entire trip seven days before check in?

I think the system is just seeing if you have a hotel reservation and then lets you book the length of your stay up to 14 days. So annual pass should work fine if you have a hotel reservation? Anyone have confirmation?
