We are trying to find a decent place to stay in the Charlotte area. We want to attend Hauntcon but the the hotel where it is being held has ALOT of negative comments on various sites.I don't want to pay $90/night for an uncomfortable room! I also don't want to pay a huge amount for a room. All we need is a comfy place to sleep really. Any ideas??

I have looked at several of the travel sites. That is how I found out that even though the hotel where the conference is, is listed as a 3 star one it may not be. I have found so much bad about it. The thing is that there are several hotels I can't find any comments on so I don't know if that is good or bad. I have to prepurchase our tickets by Fri or Sat in order to get a discount and am trying to find decent lodging. I have found a couple that look nice but can't find any real info on them.
I'm just thankful DH didn't wait until the last minute to spring this on me:)

What is Hauntcon? What hotels are you looking at?

I have bought several hotels in Charlotte are on Hotwire and been very happy. When are you going? Let me know if I can help!

Hauntcon is a haunted attraction tradeshow and convention. If I understand right this is their first year to do this. DH is very interested in operating his own hanted house so he wants to attend this. Here's a link to the site:

I have been looking at 3star hotels because I want a decent place to stay. I have now tried to map what feels like a million hotels to figure out where they are in relation to where the convention is. Originally I was going to book the hotel the convention is at because it was listed as a 3 star but then I read all the bad reviews. I would even go for a 2star as long as it is nice. ( In other words ....I want somewhere that is clean!:) )

The conference is May14-16. I have never really had to look at hotels for anything. Usually if we are going to have a hotel stay we are traveling with my parents and they take care of reservations and such. I have never even tried Hotwire.
Thanks for all the help.

Hi, sorry i didn't get back sooner. Put in your date for downtown area. Came up with a 4 star $64 and a 3 1/2 star for 54. Unfortunately I have only stayed in coliseum, pineville and Arrowwood area. I do know that downtown there is a Westin and a Hilton. Not sure which others would be 4 stars. Sorry I couldn't be a bigger help!

I am not familiar with Charlotte at all. I only think that the conference is downtown. I'm not sure. How far are all those other places from downtown? We don't mind driving 15 min or so.

actually when I looked up the other areas, downtown was prob the best deal. There is 31/2 star about 15 minutes away that appears to be the Summerfield suites, but it is $68. Have you tried Hotel Kingdom?

just found Summerfield Suites on Hotekingdom for $53. Does include cont. breakfast.

Adams Mark is a reputable hotel chain. I noticed that is the host hotel.
Also downtown Charlotte are:
COURTYARD CHARLOTTE CITY CENTER
237 S TRYON STREET
CHARLOTTE NC 28202

THE WESTIN CHARLOTTE
601 S COLLEGE STREET
CHARLOTTE NC 28202

HOLIDAY INN DOWNTOWN
230 N COLLEGE ST
CHARLOTTE NC 28202

HILTON CHARLOTTE AND TOWERS
222 EAST THIRD ST
CHARLOTTE NC 28202

MARRIOTT CHARLOTTE CITY CENTER
100 W TRADE ST
CHARLOTTE NC 28202

Any of the above are in a great location. If you see any of these on one of the websites for a reasonable rate - you can't go wrong.

I hope this helps. :wave2:
