We are driving from the Richmond, VA area and are planning to stop for the night somewhere off I95. We will leave between 4-7pm depending on when DH can get off work. We would like to get to where we only have about 5-6 hours to drive the next day.
Where should we stop? Any hotel recs? There are 3 adults and 2 kids (2yr and 7 months).

This is our first trip. TIA!

We have stayed in Kingsland Ga before lot of places to eat and lots of hotels in the coupon book you can get at the GA welcome center. A short 4 hour drive to disney the next day.

Richmond Hill, GA is about 4.5 hours from WDW. It is just a couple miles south of Savannah. There are several hotels and restaurants right off the exit. We have stayed at the La Quinta here and I was VERY impressed. It was very clean, the beds were comfortable, free continental breakfast, and very reasonable. There are also lots of other chains at this exit (I want to say it is exit 92?)

Once you get south of this exit, there is really nothing going on until Brunswick, GA which is about an hour away, and IMHO there is not much going on here. From there, you have to get close to Jacksonville before you find much of anything. Given the length and timing of your drive, I'd definitely head for Richmond Hill and no further.

If you can't make it that far, the Walterboro, SC exit (54) also has a good selection of motels and restaurants. DH has family in Walterboro, so we've stayed at the Holiday Inn Express here and found it to be good.

Have a great and safe trip!

My sister lived in Glen Allen, VA - near Richmond. The year she joined us at WDW - we left Glen Allen VA - we had 2 cars - she was in her's with 3 kids, we were unsure how they would be - so we stayed in Brunswick GA at a Marriott. Nice little buffet breakfast in the morning included in the price at the time.

Technically speaking, the Richmond Hill exit is a Savannah exit if you are wanting to stay on I-95. If you are looking for a place in Savannah, there are some downtown Marriott properties and a Hyatt on the River, but this is a bit of a drive off the interstate.

In Aug. we stayed at a Fairfield Inn at the exit to the Savannah Airport, (not sure of the exit number) but it was real new and clean. There were many places to eat, and to fill up on gas too.

We always stop in the Pooler/Richmond Hill/ Savannah area of Georgia. From there it's only about a 5hour drive to disney.

We stayed recently at the Best Western Pooler, GA - it was just off the highway and easy to get to, quiet, decent rooms, good rate.

We stop in Walterboro SC, then we're in Disney in around 5-6 hours from there. There's not as many rest stops in Georgia and Florida, so it's easier to go straight through.
