Pixie Dust, Princess Magic and Christmas Cheer!Trip report Day 1

Well I got the dreaded call Monday from GC's preschool that she was sick--the teacher was out with the "flu" and three other kids. Rising fever all afternoon, then she started retching (she can't throw up because of the Nissen fundo) as soon as the tylenol wore off her fever shot up. The doc prescribed zofran for her, for the retching and told me that they would need to see her Tuesday morning if she had not improved. They felt she had H1N1 flu. It just continued to get worse overnight, so I called the dr Tuesday morning and they said bring her in immediately:scared1: It was a very short visit, they prescribed the tamiflu for her.

It's weird this stuff seems to go in stages, she's now in the head congestion part of it, with body aches and fever, but the fever is at least staying lower when the tylenol wears off--She's having difficulty breathing because of the congestion in her nose, but it's the next phase that scares me, when it goes into the lungs. This is when the most danger is for her, so I'm praying that the tamiflu will help. Say a prayer or send a positive thought her way

Poor GenevaClaire! Is your pediatrician worried that she might have to go to the hospital if the respiratory symptoms get bad? Thank goodness you got her some Tamiflu right away......and that you were able to get it.....at the pharmacy I work for we are not able to keep the liquid in stock!

Hopefully you and your husband will not get it. Have you gotten Tamiflu for yourselves for prevention? It is soooo hard taking care of a little one when you need taking care of yourself!

Sending lots of hugs and prayers your way! You have a few sleepless nights ahead of you. Keep us posted!

I know you are probably frazzled with everything going on in your household but I just wanted to check in with you....I called and got my MVMCP tickets today and the automated line said that December 3rd was almost sold out! We are now going the 3rd...I know it was one of your dates. I hope you have got your tickets....if not get them soon!

thank you so much for letting me know--now I'm up in the air about going to that party--sold out is like 25,000 visitors?????? UGH. Well since we're going two nights, maybe three (yes I'm crazy) but hopefully they won't sell out before next week, then I'll have to choose another night.

When we got GC's tamiflu the pharmacy only had two boxes left of the suspension in her dose, they called it the baby dose, since she's so tiny. I was just thankful that they had it in stock--so far the only side effect has been behavioral, very hyperactive, kind of loopy when she talks, but that could be the fever too. She told me she loved me every 3 min yesterday and today. she's so pitiful, but she's had 4 doses now and I'm noticing that she at least is eating some, not much but I'm not having to push as much food thru the feeding tube to make up the calorie intake. So hopefully she's responding, all the congestion is in her head and she's struggling to breathe, she's not very adept at mouth breathing, so she gets strangled. But I'm hopeful that we're going to continue to see improvements. Thanks for thinking of us!

Hi! I just stumbled on your pre-trippie and wow....she's just beautiful! I totally get the "wanting off the pre-term labor/NICU/continual follow-up for the rest of eternity ride". We're in a similar boat and guess what...one of the Doc's in my OB group left his bedside manner at home too. I went into labor at 22wks (we'd just found out DS is special needs the week before). He totally blew it off! "Well, take some tylenol and rest...maybe you'll not miscarry" "I think I need to go to the hospital" "No, you can just wait at home and see what happens". I went anyway and returned to bedrest, again. I ended up in the high risk ward for the last 5 wks and held off until 30wks to have him. The NICU is probably the most overwhelming thing a new parent could be thrown into.
Your DD is definitely a strong princess. It never ceases to amaze me how much these little ones go thru and still are so happy.
I hope she's liking preschool, DS loved it but started kindergarden this year so it's a whole day thing for us now. I miss having him home but he gets PT, OT and speech so all day makes sure they can all get to him and school is less than a mile away if I get to missin' him too much. :rolleyes1
Keep having fun planning your trip-it's gonna be here before you know it. :woohoo:
(I'm subbing so I can follow too!)

I just read your pretrip report Suzanne--Nikolas is such a stinkin cutie pie! I left you a post over there :) It stinks when Dr's are so short and vile, yes I consider their behavior vile when they tell an expectant mother that their child is not viable--no hope. But our kids have definitely proved them wrong!
She does love preschool but unfortunately the germs there love her even more, that's where she got the swine flu from:scared1: she's doing ok, but it's moving into her chest now and this is where I start to lose it when it hits her lungs--but she's a trooper and a princess:

Unfortunately yes they are worried about having to admit her into the hospital, but we're taking it a day at a time. From what the docs told me it goes in stages--this morning she started the coughing part, so I've had to ramp up her breathing meds to try and head it off at the begining, but depending on how it all progresses they will have me watch her and bring her in for chest xrays when they are needed to determine, unless it's a direct admit to the hospital for respiratory distress. The pharmacy (wally world) told me that they couldn't keep it in stock, and that there was a nationwide shortage of the suspension.

Sending lots of prayers and hugs...I hate it when it gets in a preemies lungs. Even though they are older now their lungs just can't take the extra like most people. I'm glad she's got the Tamiflu, hopefully that will keep it from getting to the point of hospitalization. Try to rest when she does so your body can stay strong.

been playing around with my ressies and switched some things up :) I'll post the new schedule soon, once I can figure out what's actaully going to work for us...
GenevaClaire is napping now, she's still sick, sick, sick. The fever wakes her up at night so we have to get up for a little while until the tylenol kicks in and then it's back to bed but it makes for a long day for DH who has to go to work. UGH. She's such a Daddy's girl  She's been on the tamiflu for 4 days, I hate to think what it would have been like without it:scared1:
On another topic, I'm in panic mode over the money I lost by not working this week--our pay off date for the trip is Oct 17th, so I'm praying for some major pixie dust for this to all work out the way it's supposed to. Dh says not to worry that everything will be fine, I'm just an overplaner and over budgeter kind of person...
I'm also planning all of GenevaClaire's clothes for the trip(and coordinated stuff for me and DH)--I'm so lucky that my mom sews beautifully--she's making a bunch of things for her and also making her Tink costume(that's her Halloween outfit this year), Cinderella costume and possibly a winter belle in red. I ordered her a custom Aurora dress off Etsy that's going to be the winter version of her dress like in the holiday parade :) I can't wait for her to wear it to the My disney girl tea party to meet her Favorite princess Aurora!princess:

Yeah she's starting to feel better!:cool1: She's up and running around and smiling! But wow it seems like she has lost alot of weight this week, she looks absolutely skinny. Not enough junk food this week, just good old fashioned tummy feeds, lol. Sounds weird doesn't it? Oh well it's normal for us  It's raining cats and dogs (again) so I'm off to clean house (for the rest of the afternoon) I let it go horribly this week and I'm starting to look like an episode of how clean is your house:happytv:
I'm doing the happy dance:banana: 66 days It just seems like yesterday that it was in the triple digits--
I think it calls for a special Disney craft activity with GenevaClaire after I get the house cleaned up!

Veronica

Yea!! I'm so glad she's feeling better. :dance3: Both of mine are getting sick too-just colds thank goodness. (It's house cleaning time here too, bet mine's worse than yours...hehe!) Take some time and enjoy the day-raining or not.
I've decided to do minimal cleaning today :laundy: and work on some things for myself and our trip instead. I figure it's all gonna be there tomorrow so I'm taking the day off. :rotfl:
We're in double digits too... isn't it wonderful!! I can't wait for it to get here but then time has to slow down so we can enjoy our time there.

Just found your pre-trip tonight, your lil one is just beautiful. So glad that she's doing better! Will look forward to following along :)

Yep, she's feeling better, still has the congestion but she is not fighting the fever as much and is up and bouncing around. Sorry the kiddo's are sick, hopefully it will pass quick! Does Nikolas have any lung issues? About that house stuff, ugh, I got alot done but not all I wanted. I have a list a mile long today--but I think I'm sick. Or at least my nose is sick:eek: So my list may or may not get done... What did you get done yesterday for the trip? Are the kids super excited?

Hi there! So glad you found us! Yes we're all pretty excited she's feeling better-- I love the name Piper it's such a beautiful name!

Veronica and GenevaClaireprincess:

Thank goodness GenevaClaire is feeling better.
I have been playing with our schedule too!
Time has sure flown by for us too!

Veronicaprincess:

I got "not much of nothin' done"...hehehe :lmao: 34 more days-we're soooo excited and doing lots of "happy dances" here. I did get some of my planning binder done (lists to print and a few picture to decorate) and just took care of the kiddos. I think I may have picked up their germmies too 'cause my chest is feeling not so good. :confused3 What are gonna do..they need Mommy so we just hope we fend it off better than they do.
Nikolas has some lung issues but right now they are just saying "asthma" and we are doing pulmicort 1x a day unless he's coughing or getting sick and it sounds like it's moving into his chest. I spent all day yesterday cleaning and doing dishes & all the never-ending laundry :laundy: . It looks better, not done but atleast I'm not so embarassed when the new nurse comes to help with Nikolas. She's coming on Mon, Wed, & Fri for 2 hours to help with his bath and some other physical stuff so I can work with Mikayla on her homework (she's in some honors classes and needs a LOT of prodding to do homework).
My best advice, nap while she's in school so you get to feeling better and she still has Mommy after school.
It's late and momma is soooo tired (our last hospital therapies until spring were today-long drive & long day) so I'm off to bed with some hot tea. Maybe I'll feel better after a solid nights sleep.

Well GenevaClaire went back to school today, no fever, no coughing, so I'm anxious to see if the school has to call me to come pick her up.... I still feel like I've got a cold or something but I'm working thru it:rolleyes:
even though we worked in the house Saturday it looks like a disaster area so I'm off to conquer my to do list that's a mile long.. I just wish it could stay clean for longer than 3 hours at a time--it's soooo frustrating.
On another note, I'm back on the eating healthy, exercising bandwagon--I've lost 27lbs since April 1st and I have 23 more to lose to be at my healthy, happy weight. I did really well up until school started a month ago, then it kind of went haywire--so I'm making the promise to myself to truly commit to the FYM plan and get the rest of this weight off of me and get some energy back. So I'll keep everyone updated on how it's going:)

Have a great day everyone!

Uh oh, I hope your'e feeling better today after a good nights rest! I understand about not being embarassed when the nurse comes--GenevaClaire's teachers are doing a home visit in the next 2 weeks and I'm always freakin' out about getting the house presentable--Hope the kids are feeling better too!

Veronica

WOWSA I just got a reality Check--it's only 9 weekends away--That makes it seem a whole lot less time!

So here's my plan--for each Weekend left, we're going to have a Disney Theme Night Party  I'm getting the great ideas from this thread here on the Dis board http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1707141&page=3
I'm soooooo excited! GenevaClaire is going to love this! Plus we're going to see the Disney Christmas Carol Train Tour Oct 9th--so we'll do a disney Christmas theme that weekend! I just need to find some Disney Christmas movies, lol. I have plenty of others that are Christmas but can you believe no Disney christmas movies:scared1: Ok I'm off to see what I can find on ebay and craigslist
