Pirates of the Caribbean...do you get wet now??

We were there over Christmas and rode in the second row and got pretty wet, but the weight distribution was not right. There were 4 in the front row that didn't help the cause. I thought about requesting the last row but didn't.

We were there last week, and I sat on the end of the 2nd row. There was no standing water whatsoever in the boat. When we went down the drop, the sleeve of my windbreaker got damp, and that was it. No substantial splashing or soaking!!

We were there from January 26 to February 4th this year and rode POTC several times, in various different seats on the boat. We did not get wet once, never noticed any standing water on the floor or the seats. I was also looking for it as I heard all the chatter about it.

Ditto.

Chances of getting a bit wet in the front row remain. Rode it three times this past week, and the front seats had sprinkles where folks weren't sitting on the last time the boat went through. Boat bottoms were damp in spots, but in the three boats I rode, there wasn't standing water that would slosh around like one of the boats during my Dec trip. So, I am in agreement with most folks - you can still get some splash if in the front row, but unless the boat is really overloaded, the risk of getting soaked seems to have decreased.

The only time we got wet on PotC was on a backstage tour where we loaded the boat with 20 adults. We were in the front and got soaked. Otherwise you shouldn't even get a sprinkle really.

Water depth varies on the ride throughout the day. If you happen ride when the water is at it's deepest it will obviously be up higher up the side of the boat, resulting in more water splashing over the edge. My advice is to ask the CM if the water is at the high or low point of the cycle before entering.
Why would the water level change throughout the day?

Just got back and rode it three times. All three times we were towards the back of the boat and got no water what so ever. Not one time did we notice water in the boats either.

Rode on Feb 18thand requested the back. I was seated in the 5th row and didn't get a drop of water on me. But the people in the front row got totally drenched. Definitely request the back if being wet is an issue.

This "front row got drenched" info is so confusing to me.
We were there the first week of Feb. 2016 (this month.)
I had followed the "Pirates boats getting drenched/filled with standing water" threads and was dreading the ride.

All of the Pirates boats that we saw (on different days and times at MK) -and I was paying very close attention, and we rode Standby, with a long line of guests that had ridden before us- had zero water in them, even in the front rows, and there was not a drop of water or wet footprints at the disembark station, nor any wetness on the speed belt taking guests up and out of the attraction.

I fully believe the reports of the water-logged boat interiors and the splashed guests, but I didn't see any evidence of it at all whenever we were in the attraction.

Just ODD.

While tide does have some effect, it is quite small. Evaporation is the bigger factor, especially on sunny days.

i firmly believe all the reports of wet/soaked boats. but we were sure lucky on our feb visits. took a chance & looked into the boats before getting in. they were so dry to the point of trash (napkins & maps) left by rude guests on the floor were dry ! our boats were NOT packed (2 to a row except for parents with kids) . there was about 1 foot of water clearance from *river* to the top edge of he boat. never say anyone wet. on the floor or hear anyone scream.
i can't imagine how packed those boats would have to be to have water coming over the sides...very uncomfy.
(btw i just asked , when i boarded to be placed in the back, just the 2 of us in a row. not a problem)

Last week I checked the three boats I could see (including the one we rode in) and all were dry throughout. It was a cold day and I really did not want to get wet.

Exactly, the total weight in the boat will determine how low it rides in the water, and so how high up the side of the boat the water comes. The only way the depth would matter is if it was so shallow that the boat bottomed out.

There is a drama-filled thread about this very topic somewhere here.

For us, we did not get wet. Standing water was not an issue. No problems at all.
For others, it seems like this was not the case.

Last weekend; standing water in the boat, water spots on seats we tried to brush off, got wet on the ride ....... and took photo of the warning sign.

First two rows wet enough there were screams, rows 3 and 4 the outside folks got wet, middle one sprinkled on, not sure of rest but there were some squeals back there.

We got very wet in the front row and our family is thin. We didn't get a bit wet in any other row.
