OH, I'm so stupid. I've had my mind on the miners and needing to get up off the couch and do some housework!
I totally misunderstood. I thought the head belonged to the husband. I feel really stupid now. So I guess there is still no evidence that the husband is dead or alive?

No problem.....It's just that now, when people reference "the dead guy" in this case, they will have to specify WHICH dead guy....because the body count is rising.

And I have to roll my eyes in the worst way every time a Mexican law enforcement official says the beheading has not been proven to be associated with the Falcon Lake case. For those who do not speak Cartel-ese, allow me to translate. "I am not about to admit in any way, shape or form that a beheading, hanging, shooting, body being liquified in acid, etc., could in any way even remotely be connected to a drug cartel. God knows I will never come right out and say they actually DID the crime. That will be the case even if I witness the cartel commiting the crime with my very own eyes. The dear lord gave me a brain and that brain is encased in a head that I prefer to keep attached to my living, breathing body. I am not stupid. I am not an idiot. I do not have a deathwish. I want to live to see another day. No, the cartel had nothing to do with anything. I will swear to that. So will any of my co-workers, provided they are still alive."

The things that one human being can and will do to another is frightening. I've been following the Petit Murder trial in recent weeks, and it is truly one of the more horrifying crimes I've heard about. Now this, beheading and talk about bodies in acid. It makes me panic at times to think about the things that could happen to my family or me if we just by accident come across the wrong person. It's better not to think about it, because a person would just go crazy.

I can't even post what I actually think about this particular slice of our world because it would get me bounced from the DIS.

I genuinely feel sorry for my Southern neighbors who are forced to deal with this nightmare. I'm not going anywhere near that part of the country, I think I'd be safer in Baghdad because at least there everyone is aware war has been declared on us.

How many US officials have been murdered so far? How many citizens held hostage for ransom? I think we need another Eliot Ness

Killing at Falcon Lake Blamed on Mistaken Identity

Very interesting reading. There's more to it than this, but the gist of it is that the local Zetas mistakenly thought Mr. Hartley belonged to a rival gang and started shooting. By the time they realized their error, he was dead.....but the wife wasn't. Unfortunately for the shooters, this attack was not authorized by their superiors, who are very upset at the fallout. So upset that the shooters are now hit list material themselves. Poor guys. This report says Mr. Hartley's body was likely destroyed as the Zetas went into "damage control."
