Pirates kill Texas man? What do you think?

I have two questions that I have not heard answered anywhere. Maybe they have been answered and I have missed the answers.

First, I heard on reports that they wanted to go see this church before they moved to Colorado (I think Colorado) the following week. Apparently they were moving. Why? What was the reason? I wonder if they were unhappy about the move at all. Was it a forced moved?

Second, I heard on reports that her husband loved history and that is why they went to see and photograph the church. I heard in one of her interviews that she didn't have the pictures that they took. I assume the reason that she doesn't have them is because the husband had the camera. Is that right?

The church is a tourist destination...part of the remains of the town that was flooded when the reservoir (lake) was created.

If Calderon is so worried about "poor Mexican farmers" being darn near forced to grow drugs just to have enough money to eat, then maybe His Excellency should get off his posterior and ask himself WHY so many of his people live in third world conditions and WHAT he can do about it. Lecture the US less and work on improving Mexico more.

No, it's much easier to take aim at the US than to focus on the dismal state of his own country and how useless (and corrupt) the government is there. Anything to distract attention away from how godawful conditions in Mexico are. Bascially, Calderon needs a big old bag of SHUTUP, with a side of MYOB for good measure.

::yes::::yes::

President Calderon wins the "Pot, Meet Kettle" award for sure. Just within the past year, MEXICO decriminalized possession of small amounts of (if I am not mistaken) marijuana, cocaine, heroin and some other drugs. Yes, that's right. DECRIMINALIZED. So it's just fine and dandy for them to do it, but not California? I'm not saying I agree with deciminalization......What I'm saying is: Don't decriminalize drugs in your own country and then have the nerve to lecture my country on why doing something similar is wrong. Mind your own business and shut up.

Definitely a "pot meet kettle" kind of guy. I wasn't aware that Mexico had decriminalized drug possession, but then why not? He has decriminalized gangs, and drug cartels, etc. The only thing illegal is an American citizen who would dare to work in Mexico. For that you get thrown in the slammer.

From the article you linked to. What she saw on the front of his head could have been an exit wound.

From my understanding (and I'm no expert) the entrance wound is small, and the exit wound is large, correct???

I think so but, Doesn't it depend upon the caliber of the bullet and the velocity? :confused3

Since when? Both of my parents work in Mexico. My mom's boyfriend does too. They are all American citizens (but my dad does have dual citizenship now). As long as you have the proper visa it is not an issue any more than it is for someone with the proper visa to work here (and it is probably easier to get the visa there).

I really do not know about the case in question. I can't decide who or what to believe. And I do know that Mexico (particularly anywhere in the North) is having a huge problem with drug gangs and horrendous violence, but some of the other misconceptions I see on this thread make my head spin.

No idea about the difference in bullets. The only time in my life when I've seen entrance/exit wounds was in the military we had clean up detail during the Jones town tragedy. Even though many had been poisoned there were clusters that had been shot, and the exit would was always larger than the entrance wound. But I assumed they just had one type of bullets there, so don't know if there would be differences, but ever since then I've always just assumed that there was a little hole going in and a big hole coming out.

Obviously I am referring to an American working outside of his visa.

• Foreigners who fail to obey the rules will be fined, deported, and/or imprisoned as felons:
- Foreigners who fail to obey a deportation order are to be punished. (Article 117)
- Foreigners who are deported from Mexico and attempt to re-enter the country without authorization can be imprisoned for up to 10 years. (Article 118)
- Foreigners who violate the terms of their visa may be sentenced to up to six years in prison (Articles 119, 120 and 121). Foreigners who misrepresent the terms of their visa while in Mexico — such as working with out a permit — can also be imprisoned.

Wow, you were there!? I will never forget that. I remember right where I was when I heard about it.

No it was not obvious from your post. Doesn't the US also deport and/or arrest those who work without visas (and get caught):confused3

Based on the number of illegals living and working in this country, I would have to limit my response to "occasionally". In fact a "famous aunt" is living in public housing in Boston, and receiving public assistance from the state of Massachusetts, , and she is an illegal alien, but then she isn't working, she is just on the "dole".

I was too young to remember(I just looked up the date and I was only 5), but that certainly is fascinating that you were there. I had no clue anyone had been shot.

LOL - OK, I now officially feel old. And not everyone agreed to drink the kool-aid

yeah, since there were so many Americans there they sent the military over for clean up and ID purposes.

That must have been so shocking. Just the pictures in Time magazine and Newsweek were shocking.

Isn't is shocking what people will do in blind faith??? We've seen it in Jonestown, Waco Texas, Charles Manson, and remember that religious group that designed websites to earn income??? And they all committed suicide together on New Years Eve or something???

I wonder how many young kids don't understand the phrase that's still used some 30+ years later about drinking the kool-aid. I remember seeing it on the news the next day as I sat in the waiting room of Pediatric Intensive Care at Boston Children's Hospital, thinking "It could be worse for some people than what I'm going through". Weren't there about 400 dead?

You know I was thingking about the woman's story of the cartel not shooting her and letting her go. It seems far fetched until I remembered that one night my husband and I were walking back to our hotel, just 30 ft from the entrance, when a guy came up to us and pulled a gun. He wanted our money. The thug was very menacing. We said that we were sorry but we had just spent it all on dinner and a tip (true BTW). A split second after that he said, "That's alright, God Bless you." In that moment we went from nearly being shot at point blank range to being blessed by the would be shooter. The most surreal experience of our lives. So since we had that experience, maybe the woman had her own miracle.
