Pirate Excursion Pic's Please

We'll be there in October, too, considering this for DS(8) and DD(4). We'll be at POFQ, so I'm curious about the one that leaves from POR...are they all the same?
The cruise from POR is called the "Jester Cruise" where the kids learn the ways of the jester but with the same lunch, prizes, etc. at the end. Cost is also $30 and they changed from the original time (11:30-1:30) and the cruise is now 9:30-11:30 like the others. All the cruises are a little different in theme and most run 2 or 3 days per week. The number of kids is very limited and they fill up VERY quickly. DO NOT spend much time considering the cruises. Better to reserve and have to cancel later than to wait til it's too late. You can book through Disney Dining and if the CM can't answer your questions, ask them to put you through to someone in recreation.

Just called WDW and reserved the Sassagoula River Adventure Cruise at Port Orleans Riverside for 4 kids for our upcoming November vacay.....
I am very happy that the time changed to the morning at 9:30am....
That makes much more sense.
It sounds really fun!

Now my DD age 7 is going to pick out some Smiley Dudes, Here Goes:

My 2 boys are going out of GF on the October 5th for their birthdays. One of the many surprises of the trip :)

Cool!!!! I made reservations for our son to do the pirate cruise pirate: out of GF. But we are really staying at PORS - so how awesome is that. I think I just might have to change our reservations!!!! Thank you.

Hi, My Dd took the Pirate cruise from the Grand Floridian. Nothing but rave reviews here!

Just a FYI, the boat for that Pirate cruise is a little different than the one in the pictures posted. It is bigger & covered (open sides). It could hold probably 20 people. It looks more like the boats on the Jungle cruise ride, but with rows of seats instead of benches.

They do wear lifejackets & the head Pirate told my DD she was only allowed to take it off when the cruise was over. Sbella

I was told by CM's that the "captains" are certified lifeguards (at least one on each cruise) and that yes, the life jackets are mandatory throughout the cruises.

As for the "treasures" they find..."gold coins", stickers, beads, etc.

Our boys ages 4 and 8, did it in August and LOVED it. I think it was about $60 for both of them. We parked at the Yacht Club and walked through the lobby to the marina. We were told to be there a good 15 minutes early (we wanted to be extra safe and showed up a half hour early), but no one really showed up until about 5 minutes before the cruise was supposed to begin. We really weren't positive where we were supposed to meet, and walked up and down the area looking for someone to ask. We found some staff at a pearl shop on the sand near the large pirate ship pool and they only knew they had a pirate cruise, not where it was located. We finally found the correct location...which is right at the boat rental stand (there's a replica of one of the rental boats that the kids could sit in and pretend to drive). They even had 4 kids scheduled not show up, and we waited about 10 minutes after the supposed starting time to make sure those 4 just weren't late. They ended up being a little longer than scheduled to make up for the missed time. The sky was quite dark and it looked like it was going to pour, but it cleared up within minutes and ended up being sunny and beautiful.
The kids all put on name tags, bandanas on their heads (parents and CM helped), and life jackets, boarded the boat and set off on their first clue. They were collecting clues to find out where they would find the final treasure. The kids were all so cute. My husband and I watched them sail off and walked to the Boardwalk for a quick breakfast and then to Epcot. We were just strolling along near England/Canada, when the group showed up in Canada to find another clue. We didn't want our 2 boys to see us, so we stayed put behind a tree until they left. They were all yelling "argh!" and other pirate lingo. I think they ate their lunch there and sailed off again. My son later told me they had uncrustable type peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, a chocolate chip cookie and a sports drink. We took the boat from Epcot back to the Yacht Club in time to see them shore up at the pirate ship pool. We were on the dock where they'd return, and I got some really great pictures of them at that location. When they came back they all had some pirate loot (rings, necklaces, mini telescope, mini pirate chest, chocolate coins, etc), and smiles on their faces. The CM's were really good with all the kids the entire time. I gave my oldest son a disposable camera (I asked the CM's first if it was o.k) to take along and take pictures of whatever they were doing if he wanted to. He took only 8, so we have yet to finish that roll or get them developed. I'm sure they will be a great additionto our trip scrapbook and to see the pirate experience from his eyes. We almost took the boat from the Yacht Club to MGM, but we had to go back to the rental car anyway (back pack, stroller, etc) so we ended up just driving. We got there by our 11:50 ADR for sci-fi.
I really would recommend this trip...I know my boys would love to go again.

I found this post about the Albatross Cruise when doing a search and thought some of you may find it helpful. :)

I found photos that I had taken before the Albatross Cruise began (and also as it ended). I just put those photos into the same on-line photo album: click here (the photos are at the beginning of the album for now). I apologize that I haven't had time yet to organize the photos in that album. I hope to get around to doing so this weekend.

I finally found it! Here are some pictures a fellow DISer posted from the Albatross Cruise.

I called and changed my reservation to the new Sassagoula River Adventure Cruise. :jester: I can't wait. I told my DS this morning and he liked the idea of this one. Plus we don't have to rush to get to GF for the pirate cruise. Now we just have some magical time together!! :love2:

Just an FYI. I made reservations THIS week for Aug. 24th cruise for two kids. Sassagoula River Adventure Cruise appears to have way more room available than the Pirate ones. I hope my grandson and nephew like this one as well.
