Pirate cruise?

when the kids are of at sea lol... what do the parents do for the 3 hours? I have my 8 and 6 year old doing this for our upcoming trip in April, but I also have a 2 year that can't go. Any suggestion on what I can go do with little one?

DH and I had a wondeful time having brunch and then shopping and exploring at the GF. The time flew by.

The cruise wasn't 3 hours...I think it was 9:30-11:30. The marina opened at 10am, so we rented mouseboats for an hour, then just walked around the GF.

What if your child chickens out. do you get a refund or credit towards another one?

My DS was six when he went in May 2003. It was really hot and they must wear the life jacket (which is obviously good) the whole time. BUT my guy was really hot. We were told by several CMs over the course of the trip that it was an unusually hot May and I hadn't really thought of it but after our experience I wouldn't send my DS in hot weather again.

BTW, even though he was bright red and complained about being really sweaty he still had a great time.

Just curious but is it possible to accompany them on the cruise? I was thinking of letting my son and my nephew do this but...

My brother in law and sister are overly protective of my nephew which probally explains why he is wild. I have no worries about my son but they wouldn't let my nephew out of their sight without a chaporone (which is somewhat justified at this point)

Sorry, but no parents are allowed on the cruise. The CMs that run the cruise are wonderful! pirate:

My DS did this last November and I was given a pager. Maybe it was because security was tight. George Bush was visiting the GF that day and they were worried about parents going off-site and not being able to get back to their kids.

Also, my DS only received the bandana with no ears when he went. My DS is 7 and really loved it. He met another little boy from Alabama and the two of them were buddies for the morning. For the poster with the 2 year old that can't go, be prepared for a riot! My 2 year old DS threw a fit once he saw the boat that his brother got to ride and he couldn't go. We have decided not to have my older DS do this again this year but try the Great Adventures in Cooking instead just for this reason.

I think they do a pretty good job when there are kids either on the older or younger end. When DS went last, the CMs seemed to make the older ones their 'helpers.' From what I understand, this worked pretty well (though I wasn't on the cruise, of course). As to ears/no ears, in July 2002 they were in 'no ears' mode, but my son loved it regardless.

This is definetly something my DS6, DS7 and my nephew 4 would love doing. I am sold on this, it sounds like such fun! My question, because this is only about 1.5 - 2 hours long, what do you parents do during the time? There really isn't a lot of time to do much because I would not want to go too far. I was thinking of maybe walking around the Floridian and having a cocktail or two with my husband. Also, since the kids will be having lunch maybe we will grab a bite too!

Does anyone have a better suggestion? I really don't want to go to far though. Where should we grab a bite or drink?
Thanks a bunch.

The Grand Floridian Cafe is where we'll be while DS is off on his adventure. It has a nice atmosphere, good food, good service and it is not too far from the docks. :D

my 5 yr old dd did the cruise last week; she got the bandana hat with ears and we got a pager. most of the kids were in the 4-6 range, with a few older ones as well. two little boys cried at departure; the crew was able to comfort one sufficiently to enjoy the cruise; the other was taken off by his mother. my dd has always really liked this experience, and the two hr break is fun for all.

I am in the process of looking for shirts for my group as well. Look to the "HELP T-shirts for group of ten" discussion, there are some suggestions in there. One person even provided the link for Zazzle - a website that personalizes Disney shirts. I also provided a link for the "Magical Gatherings" website where you can order shirts.

As for a name. We just registered our group with Disney for a "Magical Gathering" and had to come up with a name. The rep. at Disney said to try and think of a funny name or go with an inside joke name. Since we are going as a family with my parents and my sis and I are married and have dif. last names we are going to be named "Pooch's Crew". Pooch is my Dads nickname. We will be putting "Pooch's Crew" on our shirts and then our family name underneath somehow.

Maybe:

Not sure yet. We are having our family meeting in June and then will decide. Good luck and have fun.
