Hello all,

A post on the restaurant board regarding Disney's neglect of "boys" lead me to find out about the Pirate Cruise.

I guess my question is has anyone done it recently? My 4 year old loves Pirates, is a very independant kid and I don't think would have a problem being by himself.

Any experiences with this would be very helpful.

Thanks

Hi there...

My 8 year old daughter did the pirate cruise in August.

She was one of the oldest kids there.. most were little ones.. 4/5/6 and there was LOTS of boys!

The CM's are great with the kids and get them all set up with their pirate bandanas and name tags, also life jackets.. when everyone is ready they pair the kids up in twos.

Everyone then boards the boat and off they go to storm the other hotels and follow the clues to treasure.

My daughter returned with a bag of loot and most of her snack which she did not eat... they had p&j sandwiches, rice krisipie treat, gummy bears and a juice box.. the loot was strings of pearls, rings, eyepatch, litle telescope etc... like birthday party favours.

There were alot of little ones wailing and crying that they didn't want to go and desperate parents trying to convince them that they would have fun.

A few were left behind crying on the dock one sobbed he wanted to be a cowboy not a pirate LOL

I would recommend this little trip for any kid... also was a great break for me - the only 2 hours I had without my daughter in a 2 week holiday. I went and had eggs benedict at the cafe and walked through the shops and went to look at the beach pool.. it was a nice rest after a busy week.

Hope this helps

Thanks,

My next question was what do I do for the 2 hours he's on the cruise.

My 4 and 6 year old did the pirate cruise last year and LOVED it. Highly recommended!!!

What to do for 2 hours? Hop on the monorail and visit all of the monorail resorts. Make a quick trip to MK and shop on Main Street. Enjoy the peace of being childless for 2 hours!:D

If only I was to be childless for 2 hours. I will still have DS 2 and DS and DD 15 with me.

Shopping without them would be a dream come true. Pixie Dust my way please.

Our 4-year-old had no problems, but he was with his older brother, 6.

DS4 loved it and wants to go back as he has lost some of his loot!

DH, DD12 and I had a late breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe and then walked over to see the GF grounds, wedding chapel and then all the way over the Poly (where we were staying) to get the strollers for the boys, because we were headed to AK after the Pirate Cruise.

I wish I could talk the boys into doing the cooking adventure. I might just schedule it and if they don't have a good time, they can just let me eat their cookies!

Have fun!

Lori
