Pins

eBay...you still have time to pick up a cheap lot of "trade bait"...make sure they're authenic (purchase from an established seller).

Energizer had pins in specially marked packages. good luck, enjoy the magic.

mousepinsonline.com

look under the specials for the month.

One warning: Do not buy any of the 2000 "ribbon dancer" or Kodak pins that are currently available on ebay in lots of 15, 50, 100+! They are clogging up CM lanyards everywhere, and if you buy them you'll never manage to trade them anyway.

See this thread on the DIS Collector's board for more info/griping on this subject.

It's a little more expensive to buy the lots of CM lanyard pins (ie, pins only available through trading), but then you actually get to trade the pins, instead of carrying them around endlessly. Please let me have made that mistake for you! :earboy2:

there are a few disney outlet stores in the orlando area that sell them for less than retail.

Don't make a special trip to the outlet stores to look for pins. We did when we were there the first week of August and were very disappointed. All of the pins at Character Warehouse and Character Premier were priced the same as pins in the park. (Starting at $6.99).

one time, my DH bought a bunch at a garage sale for 25 cents each.

Someone obviously didn't know what they were selling.

I wish I was there~ Lucky you!

We purchased 10 different pins for 2.99 each for our son and daughter at the outlet by Little Lake Bryan right outside Disney World 2 weeks ago.

We stumbled upon these in December. The CM's at the store have been really cool to us both times. In December, they went into the back room to find us some for 2.99 when we were going to pay 3.99. 2 weeks ago they gave my daughter and son a free one each from their stash.

Aside from the characters, the pin trading has been a favorite of my son 9 and daughter 4.

What is the name of the outlet, and how do you get there? We drove all the way out to the old Belz (now Primus) mall on I-Drive (in horrible traffic) to go to the 2 Disney outlet stores there. Like I said earlier, we were extremely disappointed when we found that the pin prices were the same as in the parks. We're going back in 18 days and I would love to find pins for $2.99. :earsboy: Like you said, the kids love pin trading, and I am starting to get into it too. Thanks for the info!

You can go buy 3 boxes of certain types of Kellogg's cereals, clip the coupons on the side, & redeem them in Downtown Disney for 1 FREE pin. You get one free pin for every 3 coupons you have. We did this last spring & right now we are saving coupons for our trip in May 2006. I just make a lot of Rice Krispies treats!

We will be in WDW in December and it will be the very first trip ever for my 3 year old granddaughter.

I know absolutely nothing about collecting these pins but have been thinking this would be such a great way to commemorate this first visit and hopefully, all future visits for her.

Any suggestions on how to get started and what would be a great starter set for her? Anything to avoid? Pricing guidelines? Best and worst?

All information welcome and sincerely appreciated.

One of the stores in the former Belz Mall had some pins for $2.99 last Friday. I didn't look at the other one. It was the one in the section next to Oakridge Rd. Many of the pins were $3.99 and up, but I did see a few styles for the lower price.

We thought that maybe the pins were full price at the outlet because we were there during peak season. It sounds like we should give it another try this trip. Thanks for the info!

We've been eating a lot of Rice Krispie treats lately too! :cool1:

I mailed in my coupons to get the pin, and it's a pretty nice pin. I don't think I'm going to trade it actually.

Another "free pin" offer right now is some packages of Energizer AA batteries have pins in them. You can see the pin in the package; it's impossible to miss. There's also a banner at the top of the package that says something like "free Disney Parks Pin" that makes it easier to scan through a rack of them. I've accumulated an embarassing number of batteries in order to stock up on some pins to trade in December!

I guess I'll be buying a lot of batteries this week. I have seen people on this board mention about the batteries before, but did not know what kind until today. Thanks! :earsboy:

We were at all three Character outlets last week and they all had pins for $2.99. The Character outlet near Little Lake Bryan also had the Minnie flower set of four in a cute little purple tin in the case at the counter for $11.99 which is a good buy for trading. I bought two of those.

Can anyone tell me how to get to The Character Outlet? I haven't been there. We only went to Character Premier and Character Warehouse in August. We are staying at OKW near MGM and Epcot. Thanks!!

Parking has been an issue at this outlet. Drive around to the back of mall to park. Walk through the breezeway in back to center of mall and Disney store is on your left.
