Hi, Trying to decide if I should be buying pins before we live to trade. Does everyone do it? I would think my 12 DD would love it? Any experience? Any place to buy it cheap? Thanks

Instead of trading, we just by ones that we like that commemorate our trip. I believe there are pins on ebay, but you have to be very careful that you are getting real ones. We bought the 2005 Flower and Garden Pin on ebay new because we didn't get around to buying it on our actual trip.

I do that too. I have one for each of the parks, and I get one at each resort I stay in. I think my next lanyard might be "Favorite Rides". It's a fun way to look back at the trips you've taken.

Forever, we bought a whack of ebay dirt cheap, maybe 2 dollars each, and usually if you buy from the same buyer shipping is combined. Didn't really care what they were as long as they were official Disney ones. Then when we go to WDW we'll trade them with CMs, we're just looking for the enjoyment of trading and the activity of doing it and this seems like a good way to get started :).

I got some at disneystore.com (outlet) for $2.99 each, and then I have bought on ebay. You have to do your research, tho. Look at other pin sites for legit ones, like some of the ebay stores to see if they are truly Disney and not Sedesma (which also have the gold Disney stamp on the back but are made in Spain and not tradeable). Plan to spend about $3 - $4 a pin in pin lots. DON'T buy pin lots of the same pin. Some pins are hard to trade, because there were too many made, so Disney sold them cheap, and now people are trying to resell them in big cheap lots on ebay. Since they are legit, though, Disney went and gives them to each of the cast members to have on their lanyard. A CM can't trade you if they already have it on their lanyard. Which is why you should also watch out for sellers who are selling a lot of pins of their choice.

It sounds like alot, but it really gets easier if you just spend a week or so "looking", you will be able to spot good sellers from bad. Good luck! :goodvibes

yea i also buy pins mostly to commemorate my trip. i get pins from different parks depending on what i did during my trip. i rarely trade pins with cm but if one catches my eye i will trade for it. but i love pin trading. its a fun thing that you can do while in Disney.

Usually we will buy a beginners set when we show up at WDW. We use those to trade with CM for pins that we really like. At our last trip, a beginners set was $22.99 and you got 5 pins. There are cool little features with pin trading too at the parks. CM with green lanyards can only trade with children. Lots of times, they are the ones that have the limited edition, retired, or cast member only pins.

My girls (DD8, DD13, DD14) bought lanyards and a few pins at Disney on our last trip. We went by the outlet stores and picked up a few more because they are pretty expensive in the parks. They enjoyed trading pins on that trip, so I thought I would give them a few more pins to work with for our upcoming trip in September.

I did some research and then bought a large batch of pins on eBay. I bought enough to give my three girls and three other girls that will be traveling with us full lanyards to trade with. It cost less than half what it would cost buying the pins at Disney. I figured this way I won't care which ones they keep and which ones they trade ;)

Somehow I got sucked in when we went last trip! ;) I had no idea they got so addicting! But as some others do, we...oh um, I only buy ones that mean something special to me or that I love. NO tradin'! Not for this gal. I like to keep what I buy. MINE MINE MINE! (Nemo seagulls if you please? :rotfl2: )

I don't trade, I usually just buy! But I am thinking of doing the ebay thing and trading next time! It's a great idea. I love the Disney pins so much! :wizard:

We're going to try pin trading for the first time this year. We've actually found that if we watch the online sales at the Disney Store you can sometimes find limited edition ones for like $1 or $2. We're hoping they'll make for some good trades!
