Pin trading with no lanyard....HOW?

2 problems we've always had with pins- first DS hates to wear anything around his neck. Second -the rest of us carry some type of small bag or backpack in the parks - and they always tangle with the lanyard. On our last flight home DD and I put together an idea for a backpack that pins could be pinned to. Here's a link to some pics of the first couple of prototypes I've made:

Seems to hold the pins well, and will also allow the kids to carry their own stuff for the parks. We haven't tried them in the parks yet, but I have someone test driving my next two this spring.

We all have lanyards, and would LIKE to show them off that way... but we've found the pins aren't very secure. We had a near 'tragedy' of our first Pluto pin... (but thanks to an honest CM, we actually backtracked and FOUND IT!!!)

So...what are we doing wrong that the pins are very secure on the lanyards?!!?

I bought some of the locking pins at Disney, but you have to use a tool to get them on and off. Then the locking thing would rub against my skin too and that was uncomfortable. Before we left last trip, I bought a different type of pin backs on ebay. These are great-the harder you pull, the tighter they hold! You have to push them a certain way to get them off, but there are no tools required. We didn't lose a single pin, and wore the lanyards full every day. Here's a link to the type we bought.http://cgi.ebay.com/50-Locking-Pin-Backs-for-Disney-Pins-LOW-PROFILE_W0QQitemZ320225122529QQihZ011QQcategoryZ35970QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

DD is allowed to pick a couple of pins to wear on her shirt in the morning, The pins that we're going to use for traders I keep on a card in my camera bag, which I can easily pull out when there's someting she wants to trade for.

We have lost pins even with the locking type. I swear we are getting those suckers on tight. I think it's a conspiracy to get us to buy more pins!:confused3

I love that!!!!!! are you selling those?

Thanks - they were an invention during the plane flight home - never know what might come to mind when you're trapped on a plane with the post-Disney blues!
Thinking about selling them - like I said - I have someone who is going to be in the parks at the beginning of May who has volunteered to test drive them for me. We'll see how that goes - want to be sure my thinking is working. Also working on a Tink one - tink colors and wings instead of mickey head...
Thanks again!
