Pin Trading Question

Through the help of someone down in Florida, I managed to acquire a couple of the Mickey Head Spinner pins (LE 750), one to trade and one to keep. I thought it would be a good trader since it's a nice looking pin and it's a relatively low edition size. However, the offers I've gotten through pinpics have made me wonder. So I have to ask, what kinds of trades would you consider for this pin?

I would consider trading based on three
things... the original retail price of the
pin offered to you in return, the wants
vs. traders ratio on pinpics... and how
badly I wanted the pin that they were
offering me (how long I have been looking
for that pin)

Alot of the time, to get a pin I really
want (regarless if it is LE or not)
I'll trade a highly sought after pin
with a low LE for it...
or, like to get a lanyard for example,
I have sent TA's and in the message
area, I have offered my ID along with
please consider a multiple trade.
(that works like a charm!) people then
realize that you are seriously seeking
that pin and are open for discussion.
That way it is more equitable for the
person with the more sought after item.

I find it all depends on what YOU are
comfortable with.

Then, I have also gotten some TA's
on pinpics where they offer me something
that is totally weighted in my favor
and I accept the trade, but ask them
to confirm that they want to make
the trade based on A.B. & C....
and I have gotten notes back saying,
"you are right, what was I thinking"
others say "oh yeah... it is a pin
I really want - that is ok!"

It depends on you and the other trader!

Some people I have found also use
a link called "find all pins I can trade now"
It is in the members area somewhere...
and that is where MANY of the off the
wall requests come from... like for instance
offering a Disney store pin for your
LE 750 spinner! Many newbies don't
realize what that button is for... I certainly
didn't when I was new!

Trade for something you are comfortable with. Don't accept those trades which feel wrong in your mind. Remember both parties have to be satisfied that the trade is fair. Nothing worse then making the trade and then kicking yourself for years after ("what WAS I thinking?).....and all of us have done those trades. It's part of the learning curve.

Just remember all the factors.....the edition size is lower than 1000 (and how many in pinpics are trading this pin?), the pin cost $25 (not your usual price), the pin is huge, sold out in about 2 days, etc.

I had a offer the other day of a rack pin or an LE pin for this pin. We are still negotiating the trade. Will let you know if we come to a mutual agreement.

What may be good for you is if in the future you see another of those pins you are not able to obtain, other than through a trade.
Since this is a monthly series, that very well may happen.
Happy trading!

Ebay is a great place for finding pin values. That pin is going for $45 on Ebay. To get an idea of what you can get for it, below is an Ebay search for completed pins that ended in the $40-$50 range and would be acceptable pins to consider in a trade for this one. It doesn't solve your problem of weak trading offers, but it should help you valuate the pin. If you continue getting weak offers you may need to convert it into cash to realize its value.

Completed pins in the $40-$50 range.
