First trip, 1994, Ft. Wilderness Cabins (moderate) cash.
Second trip, 1995, offsite in parents’ Marriott timeshare.
Third trip, 1996, BWV cash.
Fourth trip, early 1997, Poly cash.
Fifth trip, late 1997, Poly cash, planned to and did buy BWV that trip.

Only stayed at the Poly (non-DVC) once with our family of 5 in 2 rooms..... so when you figure out the savings on buying into DVC for 1 & 2 Bedroom units compared to the rack rate on 2 rooms it was a no-brainer to buy in.

Just one night after our DVC tour of Riviera to see how much we actually liked the resort. Prior to that, wasn't willing to pay the deluxe price tag compared to moderate/offsite costs. DVC was enticing, in part, because it was a way to upgrade accommodations without paying the cash rates for deluxe/DVC rooms.

Interesting! I stayed once because my aunty hooked us up on a travel industry deal when Aulani first opened. Then another time 10 yrs later on rental points and immediately bought in resale.

Stayed at BW Hotel side in November of 1996 for a work conference. We visited the DVC visitor center and bought in then and there. We had a family vacation at WDW that December. They were very surprised at staying at a 2 bed room villa instead of a holiday inn! The rest as they say is history! Never regretted the impulse.

We paid cash for our first WDW trip at OKW, but bought immediately after and the $$ was credited toward the sale so technically it was our first DVC stay.

WDW 0. Was a Port Orleans Riverside (Dixie Landings) person! Miss it & take boat trips back to visit. Probably why like OKW now so much.

Disneyland last stayed in one of their resorts was 2004. I’m still an Outer Rim stayer. Still supplement stays out there. Now though with VDH, up to 6 stays there with 3 more stays in the dashboard there & at VGC before end of the year.

1- BC cash hotel studio
2- RIV 3BR on points rental with extended family (the seed was firmly planted…I mean come on, have you seen the 3BR there 🤣)
3- split stay SS deluxe studio and RIV 1BR on points rental

Almost 4- had a Poly DVC longhouse studio booked on another points rental; bought DVC one month before that stay actually happened. It was supposed to be the deciding visit but I guess we had already decided. 🙃

I paid cash at Aulani twice in the span of a couple of years. Normally stayed moderate at WDW and offsite at Disneyland. We starting thinking of another Aulani trip and I said I wouldn't do that again unless it was we bought DVC and stayed on points. We could have already paid for a contract with the amount of money we spent at Aulani alone. 😵‍💫

We stayed at GF for 4 separate weeks, WL for 2 separate weeks, beach club for 1 week, and poly 1 week. Cash rates. Yes, we are stupid. I won’t even mention the weeks we stayed at Port Orleans and all star. Or Bonnet Creek. Or The Waldorf. We just didn’t know about dvc. 🤪🤪. When we finally went and had a meeting with a dvc guide, he actually stormed out on us in exasperation and said do you realize how much money you’ve wasted. We were like what an ____ and left. Then a few months later we found out about resale and bought 400 points lol. He was right.

To any 20 or 30 year olds out there, just buy dvc. Just finance it. You’ll still come out ahead.
