My dd(7) and ds(5) really got into pintrading at DL on our last visit. The did lots of trading with CM's, though we rarely saw any CM's with any Cast Member pins on their lanyards, almost always just the ones you can buy in the store. Is there a strategy for getting 'special' pins? Or can you only get them on e-bay? Also, is there more 'guest to guest' pin trading at WDW? My kids were only stopped once by a guest at DL to trade, and we were there during spring break! Not that I want them to spend all theit time trading, just wanted to know what to expect. Is most guest/guest trading at specific pin trading events? I had so much fun watching my kids trade on the last vacation, I had to get my own lanyard for this one!!!

TIA

I'm not sure about strategy, but I know you can find CM pins on ebay. Or try looking at pintrader.com

I can't comment on DL compared to WDW, cause I've never been to DL, but I didn't see a ton of 'guest to guest' trading at WDW. I think people are worried about walking up and asking someone to trade and that person be utterly confused because they've never heard of pin trading. WDW does have lots of pin trading places set up though, and you'll be sure to find guests willing to trade there.

Good luck!!

Over on the Collectors' Board , there are bunches of pin traders!

They can tell you everything you ever wanted to know about Pin collecting and trading. Give them a visit!

There are some CM's who have green lanyards and those are only for the younger guests to trade with. There are a few special pins such as pins that haven't been put out in the market yet that managers usually have on their lanyards so ask around and see what you come up with. Good luck!!

Note to bulacat. If you are at WDW on a Friday night, try going to the Contemporary for their Friday night pin trading. It is held on the same floor as Chef Mickey's. It is a large area set aside with tables and chairs. Pin traders have books set up for trading. Some of them only want to trade with other big league traders but we have done some trading there. Most important, there is special childrens section where kids under 12 or 13 I believe can go. They have a large cork board set up with pins and kids can go there to trade I believe up to 3 pins for anything on the board. They also have activities for kids in this section. We used to do this all the time but now my boyfriends son is 15 and is too old for this section. One year when we were there he was taking to some CM about pin trading while he was on line and they gave him some special CM only pins. I belive trading starts around 7:00 pm. We usually do this and then head outside to catch the fireworks and watch the Electric Water Pagent and ride the monorail.
