This is probably an incredibly dumb question....but I gotta know!

If you wear a pin lanyard at WDW, do you wear it on the rides?

I have an image of it knocking me out on RNR! :rotfl2:

If you do take it off......what do you do with it?

Also....do you only wear your lanyard when you plan to trade or do you wear it all the time? -- I've been trying to think, but I just don't remember seeing many people wearing pin lanyards when I was there in May. Not sure if this is because I didn't notice them or if it's because people don't usually wear them just for a day at the parks?

(I'm kinda new to the whole pin thing, but excited about wearing my lanyard on my next trip!)

I love my pins (not to mention having spent a small fortune building my collection), but I am not really into pin trading. I just love buying up all the cute pins that "speak" to me. I have a lot of favorite Disney characters, and I see a lot of pins that I like, so I don't ever follow all those crazy "official pin trading" rules.
That said, I wear my lanyard all the time when in the parks. I'm always stopping off at this or that pin cart to buy new ones, and I think it's a fun way to display my particular Disney tastes. When I board an attraction where I think I'll lose the lanyard or, more often, where it will get in the way of the safety harness, I simply slip it off and stuff it in a pocket. Sometimes you can just hold it under your theigh (I've done this on rollercoasters, but it always makes me nervous) or in the provided pouch. Just whatever your comfortable with.
I hope this helps. Sorry if you're looking for the "official" response. My vote is just to do what you're comfortable with. :goodvibes Enjoy!

Let me start by saying I only have something like 4 pins total on my lanyard. That said, I do wear one, mostly to keep my room key and fast passes in. So, you can imagine I don't want to lose it. When I am on a ride that I think might be an easy place to lose the lanyard, I simply unhook it at the neck and strap it through my belt loop or around my leg. It won't go anywhere then and I feel a little safer.
Take this non-pin trader advice for what it's worth and just do whatever makes you feel safe and comfortable.

After our first pin trading trip, I got SO sick of the kids handing me their lanyards before every ride that we put them away and never got them out again!

I found a waistbag made to hold pins and sometimes wear that. (I got mine on eBay, but they also had them at the now closed Welcome Ctr in Ocala.)

Since we only trade with cast members, we also found that it's just as easy to stick a few pins in our pockets and pull them out when we trade. I keep two baggies in my purse .... one for traders, ones for the new ones we want to keep. Much simpler than taking the pins off lanyards or off the pages of the waistbag.

Well, the first trip with pins was our last trip in 12/03. I worried a lot about this, but it never was a problem, because the entire trip, we both wore a zippered sweat jacket. Whenever we were about to board ToT or RnR or anything else that made us fear pin loss or damage, we just tucked our lanyards into our jackets and zipped up. We lost no pins or pinbacks and had a blast trading pins with the CM's all through the trip. Maggie

I either remove the lanyard and put it in a pocket, or tuck it inside my blouse. I also check the backs to make sure they are secure.
Haven't lost one on a ride yet! :cool1:

Yea, me too! I love my pins and really don't pay much attention to all the limited this and limited that kind of thing, I get the ones that "speak" to me too.

Don't even think I'd do any trading, but I think it'd be fun to wear some of my favorites out and about.

Thanks for the tips and advice! :teeth:

I don't have a lanyard but DD & DH do. They both worth them most of the time. We had a backpack so they can take them off on certain rides but they love to wear them to talk to cast members and trade. DH also has a straw type hat with a band around it that he wears his pins on.

I wear mine 98% of time. I take it off at meals and either stuff it in backpack or my basebal cap. On rides like tot or rnrc I stuff it in backpack.

we normally drop it down inside our T-shirts for any ride we think it might do us some damage, we try not to put too many on the lanyard so it doesnt get too heavy. And drop it in a back pac or bum-bag if we think were going to get wet.

So looking forward to our next trip (eight weeks to go :cool1: )
