PIN codes, grand gatherings and multiple rooms

Ok I have been reading on here alot about PIN codes being able to be used for up to 3 rooms. How does this work? I am putting together a grand gathering for next year. Does that mean if any of the 6 adults on the 3 ressies get a PIN then we can use it for all of them? My brother had a ressie and had to cancel it, a week later he got a PIN code for this November(we are going next November) so I am wondering if its Disneys way of wanting to get him to book a vaca. Lets say he got a PIN that we could use for our trip, and I added him to my mom and dad's room, would I be able to apply it to mine too? TIA!

Whomever gets the pin code would book the rooms under his/her name. Listing whomever is staying in each room as guests.

But know the person who gets the pin code will have to physically check each room in themselves.

We are going as part of a Grand Gathering this November. My dad got the 35% off PIN, but he can't use it as he's staying through DVC. I called to see if I could use it and they said I could as part of the Grand Gathering, even though we will be at a different resort than my parents. There was no mention of him having to book it in his name. Unfortunately there was no availability at our resort (Contemporary) for that PIN. Really not much availability at any of the Deluxe resorts for our dates at all. So still hoping for a GP offering that might let me get a discount.

I received a PIN code for this November and called and booked three rooms for our Grand Gathering. I did not list myself on each reservation (only the room in which I am staying). My name is not listed on the others. The other reservations are in the names of the guests staying there. We all received separate invoices.

I don't expect I will have to (nor will I be able to) check in any room except my own.

We have shared PIN codes in 2008 and 2010. Both times our friends made their own reservations and stayed at separate resorts from us.

They were able to call and set up reservations using my name and resort number. I never saw invoices for their room or had to check them in. We just shared our Pins. That was our experince with sharing our Pins.
