Last year I remember that I had to give the CM a code when I called on April 12th to get the free dining. This year I don't even see anything about that. Does anyone know if there should be a code coming out?

Thanks in advance! And good luck to us all!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone else remember this, or am I completely delusional? ...Which wouldn't be so shocking to me, I am pretty sick with a cold right now.

Please check the other threads. Easiest answer is no no PIN yet. Still waiting.

I have definitely checked the other threads, believe me. Scoured them!

What I meant was -- will we be able to just call up and say "Hi, please book my package with free dining," or will there definitely need to be a code? Was a code absolutely necessary last year? I know I gave one, but I seem to remember people posting they didn't need it. I am just a bit hazy on this.

No, you don't really need the code. Last year, I just called up and said I want to book the free dining offer and the CM said okay and she booked it.

HTH!

You will need the code. What I do is call CRO at 7 am on the dot. You will want to have the dis boards open and keep refreshing the page till you see the post of what the code is. Sometimes you will get a really nice one that will give you the info. Most of the time they are learning about it when we are. Good luck and pixie dust to you:wizard:

No, you won't need a code when or if free dining is offered. Disney is not offering it at this time, though. It's a matter of waiting to see if they do.

I think the code is mainly used if you book online. Sorry for the confusion.

They haven't used pins for the free dining, they use the generally available 3 letter public codes instead. They'll be on the website if they are released, when disney decides to. They have a promo that just begun though for disc'd rooms so that has to end before they'd start free dining, if they do it, I would think.

Some cms will do it if you say the free dining thing, but some are sticklers and require the code.

The first time Disney offered the Free Dining promotion, 2005, they sent out pin codes to select people. I remember because I booked using it. Later that year they opened up the promotion to the general public. I don't recall in the years after that pin codes were sent out for Free Dining. I think every year since it has been a general public code.

Right, ok -- I do remember now giving the CM a code that was ZYQ, or some-such thing.

Thanks for the clarity everyone. I appreciate the refresher, I am a little fuzzed right now. And yes, wdwmaw-- a bit o' pixie dust for us all would help! pixiedust:

I was on the phone last year at opening and the CM would NOT book it without the code. Make sure you have access to it when it does come out, because you don't want to have to wait on the phone for a second round.

:goodvibes You were close! The Disney VISA code that came out on April 9, 2007 was code ZHQ, and then the General Public code that came out on April 12 was code ZHU.

I think it helps to have the code available when you call. And believe me, just as soon as one person here on the DIS sees it come out for this year they will post it on here ASAP for all of us! :surfweb:

In past years, depending on the CM we got on the phone was whether we needed the 3-letter code or not. I always had it handy though just in case. I think most times they didn't ask for it but one year, DH did have to ask me for it while he was booking our trip.

P.S. My parents both grew up down in Rockland County (I lived down that way until I was 5 and then we moved Upstate) and we still have some family in the area so just wanted to say HI!

I didn't need the code either year. We booked late in the announcement in 2006. We didn't book until like June. Last year we booked the morning of the public announcement and still did not need a code. The cm laughed as she said "So, I guess you want free dining?":rotfl:

Hi to you too strmtroopr96.
I grew up in a small college town upstate, then moved to NYC, then moved here after my son was born. It was a good choice for us.
