I've seen this mentioned in several posts. Do you just bring a plain white pillowcase or do you get a special kind? I assume you need to bring your own permanent marker.

Plus, I imagine your kid is not walking around all day carrying this pillowcase, so youhave to retrieve it from your room whenever you go to a planned character meeting and the unplanned oines you don't have the pillowcase, right?

Any other good ideas of what to take for kids to have signed by characters?

Has anyone tried a blank tee shirt? As val stated, you'd still have the problem of retrieving it, but I wonder if it might make it more fun. Especially with a character like Stich:earseek:

We brought a pillow case that we had personalized with our child's name. On the first (or second day) , we dropped it off at Guest Services and asked that they have all the characters sign it. At first, the CM said they weren't doing that anymore. And I said, but it is a pillowcase and not an autograph book and (with a big smile on my face) it doesn't have to be back till Friday! She accepted and on Friday our wonderful pillowcases came back with all the signatures on them. IT WAS WONDERFUL!!!

We brought our pillowcase down on the first night because we had a problem with our safe. So, they didn't give us a problem at all (I guess because we were being inconvenienced). It was great! All the characters signed it (even the Princesses) and I didn't have to pay for or bring an autograph book. I'm looking to get it framed.

My only regret was that I wished I had used a better pillowcase. It was last minute, so I just used a thin pillow cover that I dug out at home.

I made a special Iron On using an ink jet printer, to commemorate the cruise. I put it on plain cotton whilte pillowcases and gave them to guest svcs the 2nd day on board.

They said to pick them up on the last day of the cruise.

The princess's were missing, they took them and they were sitting in our room later that night.

They were very helpful and pleasant when I dealt with them.

I think I will do a t-shirt on our next cruise..... I couldn't help it, I booked another on board!

So you are saying the kids don't actually see the characters autographing them? You just get guest services to do it for you?

My DD saw all the characters that signed her pillow, she just didn't see them sign it. We waited in lines to get the pictures, just not the autographs (so we didn't have to carry anything around with us).

Also, we found that for some of the more popular characters, they ended up just collecting the autograph books anyway, since it was taking too long for the characters to sign them all.

These were our DGchildren's favorite souvie!! However, it is recommended it be 'Disney' brand. We were traveling w/8 grands, therefore dropped off 8 pillowcases (each a diff design) at Guest Services w/child's name and cabin number. A few days later we picked up our personalized cases signed by all the characters. They are so adorable! When we cruised they autographed poster pictures, hats, shirts, bags, etc.
GS asked ~ 'where I heard of this' and I replied, 'The Dis board of course!!'

Our DGS 'Brady' w/his autographed pillowcase :D

We were also on the 1/24 Eastern. We dropped off 4 pillowcases the first night each in its own baggie, each with 4 different color sharpies in each bag. We had two very nice plain cases and 1 pillowcase with Kim Possible and 1 pillowcase with the Princesses. We had read on these boards that if you had a pillowcase with a design it had to be a Disney design. They gladly took them.

Then I did not know what to have the characters sign when we meet them. I think we have 20 autograph books all filled up. I went to Treasure Ketch and bought a cute Disney cruise shirt. We took it to the Character breakfast with more Sharpie's (I sell sharpies for my living) and they told me the character's can not sign with Sharpie's as it might get on their "fur". The head waiter took the shirt and told me to pick it up on the last night of the cruise. The shirt, along with 4 pillowcases were all ready right on time.

My DD7 wore her shirt to school today for the first time and it was the hit of the class!

We did an iron on transfer from a picture of the Wonder we had taken at Castaway Cay. We also had the sailing date and our names on the pillowcases. We put our pillowcases in a ziploc bag with our name and cabin # on outside of bag with a permanent black marker. They turned out so nice!!!

Our DD had all the characters sign a baseball cap which we purchased at WDW. We had her keep a sharpie marker in her fanny pack and she wore the hat so we had nothing to carry. When we got home we sprayed the hat with water proofing stuff that is used for tennis shoes and she has a wonderful "walking autograph book" that she can wear and show off everywhere.

We only have one child in our cabin, but I want a pillowcase, too? Would they do one for me? I'm just a kid in the body of a 32 year old!

with their favorite Disney Characters on them and some Sharpie Permanent Markers and dropped them off at Guest Services one morning. We checked back the next day and they were all signed and my kids were so excited! For example my DD LOVES the princesses so we bought the main Princess towel with Ariel, Jasmine, Belle and Aurora and the "characters" signed on their respective pictures plus we had a ton more of other characters. Our kids LOVED them and actually used them on CC at the end of the cruise and other people were asking how we got that done. It was really fun for them and they still have them. We plan on doing it again but with something else. We just put the markers and the towels in a bag with our cabin number and name on them and they did them for us for no charge.

The princess beach towels are a great idea!! I may try that and have it as a surprise for my girls to use at CC.

Did anyone include any kind of treats or tips for the characters? Was anything expected, and if not could they accept a little gift of some type? I assume they are doing these during what little free time they have. If I sent like some kind of "goodies" could they keep them? My DD would really enjoy a pillowcase!:D

Every cruise on the Magic we have been on the kids always decorate a pillowcase at their perspective Pajama Party in the kids club. We just use that case for the signatures. It has held up great with lots of washes...Have Fun.....

Side note: we were amazed during the character farewell Cinderella mentioned to our daughter she remembered signing her pillowcase earlier in the week (behind the scenes) and she (Cinderella) was sure our dd would have the sweetest dreams when she lay her head on her special pillowcase.
The fact that "Cinderella" remembered seeing our little girls name on the pillowcase during the week and mentioned it to her the last night was "Magical" to this Disney Mom.

Yes, My hubby and I are in our 30's and we had 2 pillowcases signed for us.
