Okay, with some of you maniacs recently returning from the Fort GG, there's been a lot of talk regarding GGs in other parts of the country. I know Jim is getting something together for Gettysburg and Rog is working on one for Gulf State Park in AL. There has also been an interest in possibly getting together in the Pigeon Forge area.

Who is interested in this GG?

What dates are good for you? Do we want to attempt to to piggyback with one of the other GG so those who want to could attend 2 GGs in one trip?

If you've stayed in this area before, is there a specific CG you especially like?

Would you be interested in getting a "group rate" to do some things while here?

Though I am throwing this out there, I am insisting on some help...Frank and Denise, Dave, Bob, or any others in this area or who frequent this area!

I reck'n one of the things is dates,,
who wants to go and has kids and when can those folk go ?

Denise and I wanna go. No kids so it's open for us. Our request would be to do PG during the week,,weekends are like doing Disney at xmas,,CROWDED !Course I spose we could always just hole up in the campground on the weekend,:thumbsup2

Our favorite CG is "River Edge", the sites are kinda small, but the CG is very nice and the bathroom/comfort rooms are nicer than Disney's ! Rog wants to go too

Actually, I have camped at RE before so if everybody is okay with that, it doesn't matter to me. Heck, we don't even have a camper yet, but I'll just rent one if for some odd reason we haven't found one by then. I home school so we're pretty open to whenever. I'm with you on the crowd thing.:headache: My DH sings part-time at a show in PF and he learned very quick that back roads are a MUST if you're going to be to work on time!:rotfl:

River Edge also has small cabins to rent for folk who do not have campers or if folk don't wanna pull a camper that far.:thumbsup2

okay,,so far head count is Carol, us, Rog , and Liv

Lorna,, are you in ?

Anyone else ?

I would really like to go, not sure how much vacation I can take. If it's going to be during the week, I won't be able to take that much time. Just keep me posted.

"The week" is good for me since I work weekends...this way I wont have to miss quite as much work.

Is mid July a good place to start?

We would be open to any time in June, July or early August, we've never camped in PF before so I don't have a clue as to CG's. I did look up RE and it looks nice, but then again all look good on their web pages.

June or July is fine with me.

Weekend or weekdays are good. Although weekend means less time off work for me.

Maybe June would be a little cooler than July?

I know weekends are easier for some, but if you have seen the weekend traffic, it's worth the days off from work. We took 2 and a half hours from the CG to I-40 on a Sunday leaving out, it is normally about a 30 minute drive.

The earlier in the summer, the better, it gets hot and humid in Dolly's mountains.:lmao: So as soon as possible after the kiddos get out of school the better.

The main entertainment there would be Dollywood, great place, but be advised it is on the side of a mountain, so you will be walking uphill all day long. Some good shows also and good country cooking. Never been to her water park but hear it's great. Amanda can fill us in there.

We like this CG, nice people nice place, good location and cabins. Also be advised they have a strict cancellation policy.

Cancellation Policy: If notified 7 days prior to arrival date -- 80% refund with a cancellation fee of 20%. If you cancel 6 days or less prior to your arrival -- no refund.

I dont imagine we'll be doing a whole heck of alot of the "tourist" thing...maybe a day at the waterpark..but Im mainly looking to do some good ol'lazy butt camping...loungin, fishin, bbqin', drinkin' and socializin'.......that uphill walkin' can be saved for those who aint serious bout there down-timin'!!!!

Same here!! At 99% of the campouts I go on, I never leave the campground once I arrive.

Disney is usually the only place where we do "other stuff".

Hey, I'm in!

And, I don't want to throw a wrench into the plans, but if the majority of folks are not looking to do touristy stuff, what about gettin together in a less touristy (and less crowded) spot?

For anyone wanting to do some "good ol'lazy butt camping...loungin, fishin, bbqin', drinkin' and socializin'" (I like your words Rog! :thumbsup2), you can't beat this place in my opinion.... Defeated Creek COE.

Beautiful lake, HUGE grassy sites right on the shore, full hookups, $25/night...and you can fish right at your site! You can book 6 months in advance. The campground is in Carthage, TN about an hour east of Nashville. It's about 20 minutes off I-40 so easy to get to. And other than a Super Walmart there ain't much around there, so relaxing is easy! And, the restaurant at the campground marina has all you can eat catfish on Friday nights! :yay:

If PF is a better option, I'd be interested in that too....just throwing this out there. Feel free to tell me to shut up! Like I tell people at work that butt in...know your role and shut your hole! :rotfl:

Thanks for bringing this all up Liv!

I looked up Defeated Creek....and found THIS
it looks really nice to me...and has all of the stuff available that I aint looking to do!!!

I would love to, but there are no tent sites. The cabins only sleep four and are $48 plus $4.50 for each person over 2ppl. We are 5 and will be on a tight budget since we will just be getting back from disney.

I am looking at popups though, so I may be able to do it if I get one. Mid July is best for me as well.

I will have to check in on Rog's Gulf State Park GG and see how that is coming along, because I will definitely make that one.

The Pigeon Forge area is really nice. I want to make it up there again.

Rog, I agree. And that place has tent sites.

Defeated Creek is one of our favorite CG for chill'n ! We go there as often as we can,,it's a very beautiful CG, well maintained, most sites are large to VERY large and grassy, onna lake, and the fish'n is pretty fair ! If we all went there I would bring our pontoon, :thumbsup2

BUT,,you need to make ressies VERY far out cause ressies are REAL hard to get in summer months.,,we would rather camp there than PF , so hey ,,if it can be worked out then we are up for it, :thumbsup2

Great suggestion Dave , :thumbsup2:thumbsup2,,
you'll set up the ressies right ??:rotfl2:

I like PF 'cause DH works part-time in that area and would not have to miss work, allowing him more vacation time, but this works for me. I'm in it for the fellowship not to run myself ragged for a week or weekend. I do that at home all the time, so I'm planning on relaxing and getting to know yuns no matter where we stay. We'll let some others chime in with their opinions and go from there. Looks like this TN GG is in motion!:cool1:
