If you purchase a package, you get a card, like a frequent buyer card, and they cross of number of photos as you go. That way you can choose pics each night. You can trade in unwanted photos if you wish. I would recommend buying the 20 photo package. You can always downgrade to a 10 or 15 pack if you don't find photos you like (but you will!)

If you choose not to buy a package, save your photo receipts for individual photos purchased and you can convert to a package later if you want.

I bought 24 photos plus the 5 8x10's for a 3 night cruise!

Maybe it depends on how many character greetings you go to but my children and I weren't IN even 10 pictures (4day)- I bought the card (10 picture package) but got a refund since there were only 6 pictures (plus the formal protraits which were 8x10)

I think DCL should let you mix & match w/ the 6x8's & 8x10's. We can't control how many 6x8's we have taken of our family so it's not really an option if you don't have at least 10 pictures taken. Not that great of a pkg in my opinion...they need to modify it more to meet everyone's needs so the pictures are more affordable. The 8x10's are 20.00 a piece...it adds up!
