Picture of the Day - Chatter Thread

Great shot! I've tried to get boat parade pictures, but I've never been successful! :)

Unfortunately, this photo doesn't really do justice to these folks' tow vehicle and trailer. The truck was jacked up high enough for a small child to walk under, and the trailer is a toy hauler. In this photo, the DW is looking for the perfect place to put her plastic flamingo. These people like to party! :cool1:

Must've been there the same time as us :rotfl:
We had to take tons of pictures of it because it just floored my fiance, he loved it!

ynottony, ever since I was a kid, I've loved Slash Pine trees (like the one pictured in your photo and in the background of your photo). Even when we were looking for our house recently, I would always look for houses that had lots of slash pine around them.

I could never ever figure out why, when all along, it had been right in front of my face. Last time we were at the Fort, right as we pulled in, it hit me. The reason I love slash pine so much, is because it reminds me of the Fort, of course!

Almost 30 years of being in love with that tree, and however many hundred trips to the Fort, and it took me to the ripe old age of 31 to figure out why I loved it so much....lol.

P.S. Slash pine is also known as pitch pine, southern pine, South Florida slash pine, swamp pine, yellow pine, and Dade County pine. Why Dade County (the county Miami is located in) thought they should get exlusive naming rights is beyond me...lol ;)

When I describe FW to some I know who have never been there, I always talk about the atmosphere there, and how big a part the pine trees play in that. Before I moved here from Kansas 17 years ago I would have never thought that Florida had so many pines. We live in Pinellas county, and yes we are loaded with pines.

Yep, here in West Palm Beach we have tons too. Most of eastern Broward and Dade are kind of devoid of pines, but once you get to Palm Beach, all the pines start. Of course, anywhere in or near the Everglades has tons of pines as well.

Husband of the year!! He did a really good job - I love the details on the bottom!

Actually the details at the bottom came a day later. He had purchased those at the Meadows store. They're actually serving plates. He can be creative sometimes :)
