And what's a sweeper?

It's kinda like the Security guys who walk you out of the park at night if you lag... in the case of the running stuff, it's a van that picks you up if you are too far behind to get off the road before they open it up to the general public again and so they can go home *sometime*! Unlike the Boston Marathon, no 14 hour finishers going to be allowed...

:)

Thank you Jud.

Well, you've got me thinking about it at least... that's more than I ever thought about it before! So thank you. But does a 16 minute mile mean you have to be able to run a mile in 16 minutes? And what's a sweeper?

The sweepers are behind the last person to start. As long as you can do a mile in 16 minutes and stay ahead of them you are good. The best advantage is to be farthest up in the corrals so you have a time cushion. This year the corrals went from A through H. So the faster you can go the closer to the front you start. I usually can run between a 11:30 and 12:30 minute mile, but with stopping for pictures my pace turned out to be something like a 17 minute mile. But I started in Corral B, so I never saw the sweepers. Check out on the WISH board there is the Official Princess half Marathon thread. Everyone there is so friendly and supportive. And there are lots of people who walk the whole thing, some who do a run walk combo. and those who run from photo stop to photo stop (not super fast, I have to say none of us are Kenyans!)

ETA: Kinda like Jud said, but by the time I got to Epcot the park was open. I think they try to get all the runners through MK before it opens.

Thanks! That's a good help for me as I consider if I could run this.... I'm not a runner, but I could do it for Disney! ;) I don't know how fun it would be to run with my DSLR in hand though! :rotfl: Sorry everyone for the side topic!

I didn't think of my self as a runner either, but for Disney Bling I decided I would do it! I usually carry my DSLR in the parks but borrowed a small P&S that I could carry in my hand. It worked out great.

Thought I had a close up of my medal in my photobucket account.
