Pics Of the Contemporary Vacation Club!!!!

I wonder if Mouseplanet got a cease and desist too, because they're gone off there as well...

Because they're competitors to the sponsors of this website, the folks paying the costs to support our addiction.

I would hate to see how small the rooms would be if they had to fit the same number of rooms on only 5 or 6 floors, on the same footprint. There just wouldn't be enough space to move around the room! I would suspect that the 15 stories is essential to ensuring that the property would be a worthwhile investment to pursue.

I would think the building doesn't have to be any bigger than say The Beach Club Villas...and still be able to fit a good amount of units. I think to put up a building that competes with the Contemporary is only going to take away from its massive beauty and not enhance the visual. I dont think the Villas at Contemporary would be to necessarily sell a large amount of units, but instead an alternative place for DVC'rs to stay.

And whos to say the DIS has all the information on Disney? I love this place as much as the next guy but theres some info that can be easily found on other sites...nothing wrong with healthy competition.

There isn't enough space to put a building with as large of a foot print as the Beach Club Villas north of the Contemporary Resort. The Beach Club Villas is widely regarded as the smallest size for a DVC property that could be considered even marginally financially viable.

With regard to the rest of it, the rule is clear, "Anyone found trying to bypass the filter will have their posting privileges revoked." It's their house; their rules. :teacher:

Very interesting. I don't know if anyone played around on the architect's site, but they also designed the contemporary convention area, the Bonnet Creek clubhouse, and the original hotel complex for EuroDisney. There are differences from some of their drawings and proposals and what actually was executed, but the ideas are there.

Sweet! I can't wait! I *will* sell one of my other DVC contracts to buy into the Contemporary once it's available.

If it is true what would be the advantages of owning DVC Prior?
And would that be th same if I bought through The Time Share sight here or if I bought directly from Disney only?

Sorry i would have justed posted the photo but i cant add attachments for some reason..heavens know why ive benn a member here for 3 years or something

Pffft - like we need some other board. The pictures in question were dug up by our own Tink10 and posted here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1187616 first. Those "other guys" gave credit when they posted his information on their board.

Anyway, for those having trouble with the linking, you can see the pictures in the thread above. Not sure I'm digging it architecturally, but we'll need better pictures before we know for sure. And if the pool in the picture is at all acurate, it's no SAB.

I dont like hte 15 story idea. I'll be happy if they stick it to 5 or 6 floors so it doesn't over shadow the Tempo Bay. I hope they revise those plans, but then again I have to agree that those images shouldnt be considered final. For all we know they were just tinkering with the idea and might back out...

I agree with you. :thumbsup2

VWL is smaller than BCV. Also bicker, some months ago someone showed an aerial view of the CR grounds. There sure looked like enough room for a building the size of BCV. And in fact the high rise's footprint looks pretty large anyway.

I was too late and now the pictures are gone. Were there more than just the 2 posted on the first page??? If so, can someone please PM them to me?? THANKS SO MUCH!!!!

Surely a fifteen storey building needs only about 1/3 the footprint of a five storey building to support the same amount of floorspace, and since an extraordinarily high percentage of the cost of a building is the roof, it generally costs a good amount less to build a taller building than a wider building. Regardless, I don't believe the Contemporary's grounds are large enough for both a five story version of the villas, and all the additional parking, recreation and open space that would be necessary.

Obviously a 15 story building creates a 1/3 of the footprint of a 5 story building with a similar design and equal # of units. But I would personally prefer a smaller # of units and a shorter building.

But of course, I don't have a vote. :sunny:

As for additional parking, there is already parking for the North Wing. It would obviously be reconfigured. And other than another pool, I wouldn't think there would need to be any other recreational space added. Nothing extra was added at BCV beyond another quiet pool. The CR already has so many activiites.

Okay, I am ready for an official announcement from DVC. My husband already said we will add on again once this comes true. Hey, my birthday is in 2 months and this would make a mighty fine birthday gift don't you think? :Pinkbounc

If they build DVC at the Contemporary I would hope that its only there as an alternative for DVC'rs to stay, creating more interest into buying in other available areas (Saratoga Springs, or the infamous 'STOLport Resort'...) and not necessarily leave a big impact in the already established resort. I'm all for more rooms to be built but nothing overbearing the lovely view of the Tempo Bay Resort. :3dglasses

That design looks cool, I bet though that it will be revised a little.

Hey...did anyone else notice that this company did an addition to the Guggenheim?

I smell George Constanza! :happytv:
