Well, as some of you may remember, I was asked by DH to get out of the dining room, lol... so I came up with a concept for a space in the corner of our family room. Here is what I came up with... I'm almost done but still have some stuff to move over. I'm going to wind up having to purge some stuff, because I honestly NEVER use it.

This is a wooden frame that I built myself, with a prefabricated 6 foot laminate kitchen countertop. It is counter height so I can stand or sit (drafting chair -- my butt was too big for a wooden barstool, lol). I still have to get a board for my shelf but the brackets are already in place -- I have my ribbon up there right now and will add several more magazine holders for magazines and idea books. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with the space. Everything is fairly within reach and I really like the amount of table space I have to work on.

Very nice. I started out scrapping on my dining room table too, LOL, very inconvenient. I now have turned my back bedroom into a scrapping room. My DH put up shelves, and also bought a kitchen laminate countertop for me, along with cabinets. It's worked out great, but I still don't seem to have enough room. My future goal is to buy one of those big barn-type sheds, complete with insulation, heat and air conditioning, out in my backyard. Someday... :teeth:

Looks very organized! Congrats on the new space!

very nice. I think we should start a club of scrappers who were at some point asked to vacate the diningroom table! HA!

Previously vacated here too.... :rotfl: but by me...I couldnt stand the mess in the kitchen area.

Awesome use of space and how cool is it that your by those nice windows. Glad it worked out for you!

Dining room tables make a wonderful initial scarapbook space. You've moved on nicely! Thanks for sharing!

Me! Me! Me! I've left too.

Nice space! I like the hanging file folder idea. I don't like my current set up. I'll have to see if I can fit that in my space...

I like the table! I have found that I'm standing more but it's nice that you have the option to stand or sit.

I'm back in the dining room again since we had to make room in our bedroom for the baby. Of course we never eat in there, think DH would let me get rid of the furniture and build a scrap room? It also doubles as his office when he's home too.
I need a bigger house!

Looks like a good location, plenty of light. You did a great job with the table! Enjoy!!! :flower:

I started out on the dining room table: I have the exacto knife gash on it to prove it! Love your space: looks very organized and sunny.

It looks very nice. You all would laugh if you saw the itty bitty round table that I used to try to scrap on. And all my stuff was in bags. It was horrible to sort through every time I wanted something. I didn't scrap much. Now I have a huge desk that a friend gave me. I love it. My dh isn't to happy about where I put it but tough! My dd now has her little table in front of mine and has her own space. It works out much better. Now just to keep her away from my stuff! LOL!

I am a kitchen table scrapper, I have to take everything out and put it away when done. I wish I had a scrap room! Looks great!

Love it! The little drawers or baskets under the file cart . . . where did you find them? I need something more to use that space better.

They came with the cart. It's a Z-line mobile cart from Staples.

I'm mostly excited that the entire project cost me under $100, plus $40 for the cart. All the armoires and tables that I priced were in the $300-400 range and didn't seem to have the storage or workspace that I was looking for.

Very nice. I scrap in the diningroom also. As nice as it is, I can't wait to have my own scraproom. Enjoy, your space.
