DH finally got his 300 gallon tank that he has always been wanting. It's used, but the price was right when he got the stand, tank, and ALOT of extras in the deal. All the extras are the top of the line for saltwater tanks.

He has went from a 75 gallon, to a 125 {what he has running now}, and now the 300. Once the 300 is up and running, everything that is in the 125 will come out, go into the 300, and then the 125 will get torn down.

This will be his LAST upgrade cause there is no way our house can handle anything bigger. Before DH can do anything to the tank, he has to re-enforce the floor to handle the weight.

Here is a pic of the tank with DS9 and DD6 in it.

Another one with DD laying down in it.

And a pic of the tank when the former owner had it set up.

I kind of like the idea of keeping the children in it. :)

Wow! That's a huge tank! Can you please update when the fish are there?

I like the idea of keeping the kids in there also, but DH said they would scare the fish. LOL!!!! :lmao:

I sure will! :) He has ALOT of corals to put in there and is already adding to the fish. He only has 4 fish in his other one, but they would look really out of place in such a big tank. DH has already put in a fish order to fill up the new tank.

LOL on the kids in it!

Can't wait to see it when it's all done. I love saltwater tanks

If it was much bigger I'd ask to come over with my mask, snorkel, and fins!! :)

I'd love to see the tank when you get it all set up!

Wow thats a big tank!! I second the thought that if you get tired of using it as a fish tank the kids can practice their snorkeling technique in it :lmao:

That is one big fish tank! Good Luck with it, and yes do post pics when it is up and running! Love those kids in the tank... ;)

DH has been taking his time getting his tank set up. He has been buying stuff here and there for it, plus making sure the floors were re-enforced to hold all the weight. What took the most time was filling the sucker {I am going to hate seeing that water bill! :faint: }. He used his RO unit to make sure all the water that went in to the tank was really clean. And let me tell you that RO unit runs really ssllloowww! It took at least a week {6-12 hours each day with the water running} to fill it up.

Anyways, thank goodness the floors are re-enforced and the tank is filled. For DH you would have thought it was going to take a lifetime before this thing got set up. LOL!!! Now is the fun part for DH, the aquascaping. He wants to take his time doing this cause he wants to get it right the first time. The tank is so deep, he has to use these long tongs just to sit the rocks on the bottom. Plus he doesn't want to put everything in all at once, cause it could cause the tank to crash if it has to much of an over load all at once. I would hate for him to loose all his corals in one pop cause he got into a rush to get everything in.

Here's some pictures....

Here's the tank filled and with some rocks in it to get it started. I am in the process of trying to find some dark blue curtains to put over the window to make it look like the ocean. Plus DH is trying to find a cleaner for the inside to clean the acyrlic{?}. It requires a special cleaning tool.

Here are some of the fish in it right now. The first one in the lead is a Blonde Naso Tang. Behind him is a Foxface{not sure of the rest of the name}. Right behind the Foxface's tail is a Yellow Tang. And sitting up on top of the rock is a Lionfish. I think I might start calling him "Simba". Kind of looks like Pride Rock {is that what's it's called in the LionKing, I forget? What shame! } he's sitting on.

Here's a better picture of the Lionfish.

Here is another reason it took DH awhile to set his tank up. DD thought it made a WONDERFUL playhouse. LOL!!!! Like her cave drawings inside? LOL!!!
I started laughing my butt off when I saw them. :lmao:

As DH gets further long with his tank, I will post more pictures. Of course once he gets his BIG lights set up so he can turn them on and I find some curtains, the pictures will look alot better.

Yikes, that is probably something I wouldn't have thought of... I can see me trying to fill the thing and then it goes crashing through the floor :rotfl2:

Well DH finally has everything moved into his 300.

Now he is trying to get more stuff to put in it. :rolleyes2 Thankfully he belongs to a couple of Reef clubs that he can get coral frags/fish really cheap.

He's still waiting on his scrapper for the back, plus trying to find a back ground big enough to cover the back.
Here's a pic of the tank......

Years ago I had salt tanks. My largest was only a 90. Yours puts mine to shame. Looks great. The picture of your Lionfish really brings back memories. I had mine trained to stick his head out of the water to get fed. My wife could never watch me holding a goldfish in my fingers and watch it being snatched up by my lion. A little advice....NEVER EVER clean the outside or near the tank with any chemicals. My lovely bride thought she would do me a favor and clean the outside of the tank with windex one day. Over $1500 and 2 years of labor down the tubes. Woke up to every fish floating and live coral dead.
