NEVER a pain!! Are you kidding... I love this...staying in all these resorts comes in handy at times like this!
POR - well, some folks absolutely love it and find it very romantic...I am not a fan..it's big, spread out and when buses share POR is after FQ. I'm sure you've looked at the 'photos and read reviews...
We stayed there twice - once we were moved to FQ b/c they kept assigning us a king bed room even though we kept telling them that although we were friends, we were not "that close" I swear that's what we said and for 8 hours they kept sending us to a new room, which would be a king again!!
2nd stay was fine..corner room, Alligator Bayou, bldg 14, directly next to the food court and parking lot - nothing for a view, but we enjoyed the location.
4th room we complained to a manager, he took us to another new room, opened the door and was stunned to see A KING!!!! He moved us to FQ b/c the resort was out of rooms by 5 p.m. Well, except for king, it seemed. We began at 5 a.m. trying for a room change. Long story...
We went over to the Mansion side to have a look a few times, but it seemed very tacky, ugly concrete - I truly do not understand why guests love it so much...but it must be me, because lots do.
OH! FQ also has Elliot Dyson at Scat Cats evening - fabulous Sax, steel drums, guitar, singer.. Terrific. POR has Bob the piano man who plays with his foot, makes constant jokes and includes the audience -s not for me. I wanted to crawl under the table when he called out to me.
No matter which mod you stay - do request a corner room! You will not regret it if your request is granted!
Anything else?
P.S. Just read your post that Mark loved the POR pics - which side did he like? Either side is only by request, so if he prefers one side to another, it's not a sure thing. If he prefers Alligator Bayou because of it's rustic theme (kinda like WL) that side is often given to families, but both times we stayed there we were in AB and just 2 of us..that darn king bed!! Of course, that would be great for you! Guests can request either side, but be prepared.
