Pickle part II

Well, I'm in a real pickle now. CSR does not have standard rooms left for the entire stay. I refuse to pay an extra $254 for a king sized bed. (that's three awesome meals at Fulton's!!) Hubby told me he would love to cuddle in a double bed with me. That could be either ACK! :scared1: or Awwwww  I haven't decided yet...

ETA. Are you still by yourself?

Me? They leave on Thursday....I'm gonna need a lot of companionship, especially evenings!!! Who am I kidding..all night!!!:rotfl2:

Well, don't give up on CSR - check everyday, a couple times a day of possible - first thing a.m. when it opens for cancellations form the night before and later in the day - for who knows what reason, one year we found the absolute best last minute availability early a.m. or just before they closed for the evening (that was the unusual part).

Fingers crossed!! Oh, dbl bed - where was that available??

ETA - and...ya know this ain't called the pickle thread for nothin'!!!

I have to book tonight. Five day window to make any cancellations.

What do you think about POFQ?? I know, please do not throw tomatoes at me!!

:) Silly you!!! I don't like tomatoes! Maybe it has changed, but changing resorts was never considered a cancellation and no fee charged.

POFQ is one of my absolutely favorite resorts! It is quaint, very pretty...a prettied up version of the real French Quarter....rooms were refurbed in 2004, beginning to show a little age, but it is a very popular resort.

Boat to Downtown Disney, food court ok, but the Beignets are fabulous(and when anyone says it's like fried dough, do not believe it. East Boston is known fir it's friend dough and Beignets are not even close)...be sure to have napkins in your chest or you'll be covered in powdered sugar.

If you do decide to change....do make a bldg request...I suggest blg 6 - not in the heart, but that gives it more romance, but maybe a 3/4 mins walk from the bus, food court, etc. No parking lot views there..or bldg 2, close to dock, pool, hot tub and no pkg lot view. Be sure to let them know it is your anniversary when you make your room location request, okay?

BUT the extra you would spend for a king bed would be less than one ngt at Poly, yes? So you'd still save a nice little bundle. :teeth:

Only if you are switching CSR to POR! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'm sorry. :(

Mark just finished looking at pictures of POR and he absolutely loves it. He also loves the idea of being able to walk over to FQ to have different food.

I'm really torn right now as to what to do.

NEVER a pain!! Are you kidding... I love this...staying in all these resorts comes in handy at times like this!

POR - well, some folks absolutely love it and find it very romantic...I am not a fan..it's big, spread out and when buses share POR is after FQ. I'm sure you've looked at the 'photos and read reviews...

We stayed there twice - once we were moved to FQ b/c they kept assigning us a king bed room even though we kept telling them that although we were friends, we were not "that close" I swear that's what we said and for 8 hours they kept sending us to a new room, which would be a king again!!

2nd stay was fine..corner room, Alligator Bayou, bldg 14, directly next to the food court and parking lot - nothing for a view, but we enjoyed the location.
4th room we complained to a manager, he took us to another new room, opened the door and was stunned to see A KING!!!! He moved us to FQ b/c the resort was out of rooms by 5 p.m. Well, except for king, it seemed. We began at 5 a.m. trying for a room change. Long story...

We went over to the Mansion side to have a look a few times, but it seemed very tacky, ugly concrete - I truly do not understand why guests love it so much...but it must be me, because lots do.

OH! FQ also has Elliot Dyson at Scat Cats evening - fabulous Sax, steel drums, guitar, singer.. Terrific. POR has Bob the piano man who plays with his foot, makes constant jokes and includes the audience -s not for me. I wanted to crawl under the table when he called out to me.

No matter which mod you stay - do request a corner room! You will not regret it if your request is granted!

Anything else? :)

P.S. Just read your post that Mark loved the POR pics - which side did he like? Either side is only by request, so if he prefers one side to another, it's not a sure thing. If he prefers Alligator Bayou because of it's rustic theme (kinda like WL) that side is often given to families, but both times we stayed there we were in AB and just 2 of us..that darn king bed!! Of course, that would be great for you! Guests can request either side, but be prepared. ;)

We're both looking at the site now and absolutely love the mansion side. Do you know what time the reservation center closes?

I hope you guys aren't disappointed in me. When Mark found out that everything but King rooms are booked at CSR he freaked. (like I first did) He doesn't want to stay in a packed hotel. So then he said, let's just go back to CBR. BUT I really want to stay at a new resort. I hate this!!

Tracy
Sorry you had been fighting a migraine – no fun, I certainly have had my share.

I can’t help with any of the moderates as I have never stayed at them. I “only” been to Disney 3 times, ASMu, Pop and OKW. But I have visted POFQ and thought the grounds were beautiful, the CMs very friendly in the gift shop (we were on a mission for pins!!). The resort to me looks romantic as well. To me, they all have something to offer, just what you like for theming. What is nice about the two PORs is that they have the boat to DTD. I don't know what to tell ya. Reservations closes at 10pm.

Oh, I realize that Mark likes POR - if you do, why don't you go with it?
I will hang in with ya:hug:

For room only through CRO, not WDTC, changes after the 6 day cancellation there is no charge.

CRO closes at 10, I think..

I must be stupid because I don't know what either of these are?

I currently have two room only ressies booked through the number on the disney website. Is that CRO? I don't even know what that means. Sigh.

I want to cancel those and get a package with the dining plan at a mod for the whole 9 nites. I'm guessing this is where I get dinged the fees unless it's done tonight? I have no freaking clue and I'm about to shove a fork in my eye. I'm DONE.

I'm sorry!!!

CRO is Central Reservation Office...

WDTC - Walt Disney Travel Company

I would call right now to be safe....

This is a great idea dn I think you'll be very happy! As I shared, I am not a fan of POR, esp Mansions, but many, many LOVE it and find it very romantic!

GO FOR IT!!!! NOW!! Just in case the number on the site was for WDTC - which handles the website reservations. I'm excited for you!!!!

Tracy
Call the number from the website or what is on your rooom reservation confirmation. CRO, I is the central reservations offices that I think packages are booked with. I don't think it will matter what number you call Disney on, just give them your ressies number. They will probably book your package ressie (which will have to be paid in full) and then cancel your 2 room only.

You know about summer special right? There was up to 35% off rooms, but you can turn it into a package as well. There were codes out there - I can look for you - so you won't have to pay reg rack rate for the room just to get the dining.

Call me on my cell if you need help - I'm here!
J

Crap - I think I just realized that the summer special ended and the fall special (which is the one I was thinking of - starts Aug 9- so you can't get that discount on the rooms.

OMG!! I just found a pin code for free dining in for the Fall and into December ...but it is in Mia's last name!!!! I set up the account, set up an email for Sophia's first trip (in 3 yrs LOL)...they have rec'd FOUR pin codes in a few months! Me, nada. LOL

Oh, hayull no, I won't be paying rack rate! It's five dollars more a night than what I currently have been charged. I've got 55 minutes. OMG.

Thanks for the CRO explanation. I am all acronynm'd out. LOL

Janet, I think Tracy booked the 35% summer discount:)

Tracy, be sure you speak with a knowledgeable CM to be sure s/he changes it including the discount, as Janet mentioned. :) Just explain what you want to do they will have no problem making the changes.

Just read Christine's note before I posted - I'm glad you got the summer discount! I was thinking at this late date you would have to pay the reg. rate to get the dining. POR sounds wonderful! Call and discuss your options with Disney. They can tell you what's available. Sounds like a plan - go for it!:thumbsup2

Hi Christine
Ain't it the way it always works?? I read on mousesavers that there is free dining offered for Disney VISA cardholders (I am one) that starts in Sept to Dec 17th.

I am lucky to have rec'd one pin code in my life - and it was a good one - an upgrade to OKW in 2007 (I was booked at Pop originally - what a great upgrade!!):cool1:

Hmmm....Trac is quiet.....must mean she is on the phone with Disney!! Fingers crossed!!!
