Pickle part II

I just quit reading when you started talking about changing resorts! :rotfl:

:rotfl2:

If you're gonna do it, you might as well do it right... go for the big cheese himself! And be sure to have Marky taking pics of the whole thing!

What a long day today! Camp is about 45 min drive to get to. Then we stood in a cow pasture for almost 2 hours watching each camper shoot off their rocket. I got a sunburn on my b**bs. Well... that didn't sound right, but you can figure it out! Then we went back to the picnic area where they sang and did a skit. Then we got Tucker's stuff and drove home.
This made me LOL! I read waaaaay too much into the rockets going off and b**bs getting burned!
Tonight we went to get their school supplies, as school starts Monday. $163.86 later... we are now ready for school. :scared1: Irritates the crap out of me to buy supplies to clean the classroom and tissues. Next they will probably ask each kid to send in 24 rolls of TP! :sad2:

I buy a ton of stuff for my class too. I have vowed not to this year.... I spent a whopping $1800 last year. Jeff was about to kill me. But most of my kids don't have parents who help them at all.

:scared1: I can't do THAT to Mickey. Are you insane woman?

School supplies are crazy expensive. I can't complain about having to buy tissues and cleaning supplies though. My sister is a teacher and the money she spends out of pocket is downright asinine. The school boards should be ashamed of themselves. And that's all I'm going to say about that topic. ;)

Sounds like camp was a fun time. I always loved that part of summer. My child refuses to go to any kind of camp. Sigh.

Thank God I have a job so far. I don't even want to tell you about school boards here!

No, I definitely don't think the teachers should be paying for it OOP. In NC, our teachers already have to take mandatory unpaid days off and buy lots of supplies OOP. But somehow NC managed to hire a superintendant for $300K a year, only to spend money to fight about it in court, and then be told it was illegal to hire him to start with! Here... flush some more of my money down the toilet!

I had to take a .5% furlough in May. We get to take a day off... but it has to be when kids are not in school and it cannot be a "required" work day. That leaves me all of one day to take before it expires on 12/31/09. You can bet your sweet bippy I am taking that durn day too!

We call them Snowballs... YUMMY!!!

They are used to it, so it doesn't bother them. All the neighborhood kids are in year-round school too, so they don't really know any different. What I am dreading is getting Tucker up at 5:30 to get him on the bus at 6:15. I will probably carpool him as much as possible, but school starts at 7:30.

And last but not least, if I had to go back to school on Monday, I would cry right now!!! I am NOT ready! I'll be ready by August 17! Our kids come back on 8/25. My kids are not ready either!

Okay my sweet, dill, bread and butter pickles.. I am off to the beach in the morning and I don't know about the internet there! So, I might not get to catch up until next Sunday. I hope you have a lovely week and if I can I will pop in.

Tracy... if I don't talk to you before you go... have a wonderful time. Soak up all the fun and sun you can and really experience the moments. I know you will love being there. Take lots of pictures.. you don't have to be in them all, but you will love looking back later! And besides, we'll need a trip report when you get back.

xoxoxoxo

They get so much time off during the year, so it all works out. They are off 3 weeks in April and October, 4 weeks in July, and 5 weeks at Christmas. We are really busy in April, so just stay home then. July we do beach trips and summer camp. October is when we travel. After Christmas we are brokey-dokey, but they like to have that time to sleep in and play with all their new toys. This year we had 2 goods snows during their break. (That would be NC good, which means more than 2 inches, stays around long enough to play in at least once, and is good enough for snow cream if we are lucky!) :rotfl:

OMGoodness! I found our thread at the bottom of page 3! Is everyone insanely busy today? Tracy... hope you found that swimsuit and are starting packing!

I've not been around all day. Got up at 9 a.m. when hubby brought my Starbucks home; then I did one load of laundry and then headed off to watch oldest son coach his boys last tournament (they won 4-2 and won last night 10-0). Then it was home to do another quick load of laundry; then two hours at the bowling alley with youngest son and his best friend and his mom (unfortunately, they kicked our butts so we go back at it in two weeks). Then went back to the ballfield to watch Andy's kids third game of the series. They came out flat and got slaughtered. But they still have a chance to go to the championship round with a win in tomorrow morning's game. DH and I stopped for a sandwich on the way home and I'm now doing more laundry so that I can go back tohte game in the morning. I'm exhausted and ready for bed...but it will be a couple of hours before I can do that.

Okay. I'm having a great big pickle fit. Somebody please talk me off the ledge...

I'm thinking of changing the Poly ressie. I have never spent this much on a hotel stay before and I'm starting to have a panic attack. I've been a freakin wreck all day. What should I do? OMG, somebody please help me!!

Tracy, take a deep breath.

Is the money going to break you if you stay at the Poly? If yes, then see if you can change it. If it won't break you, leave it alone and enjoy. Everyone should stay at the Poly at least once in their life--it really is a beautiful resort. But if you are going to worry about it the whole time you are there you are not going to enjoy yourself. Maybe see if you can switch and do CSR for more nights and then just do the Poly for two or three nights so that you at least get a taste of it.

I know I'm a pain in the a**. Sorry. :(

ETA. Nevermind. I'll figure it out. I shouldn't even be posting when you've all had to cancel your trips. I'm an insenstive dork. Have a great weekend folks.

You are not a pain in the a**. Believe me...I know how you are feeling. We're still debating our trip. Even though the room is free, I feel bad about the car (and air if we fly), food, gas, etc.

All I can say is do what is in your heart so that you have a relaxing vacation and not a vacation where you are worrying about buying a Dole Whip or a box of popcorn because you spent so much on your resort.

I'm not worried over my canceled trip, and you shouldn't be either! If it bothered me, I wouldn't be trying to help you plan the trip of a lifetime.

Is the $$$ for Poly going to put a strain on you financially? Is it going to eat at you all trip? If yes, then either go the entire stay at CSR, or stay at CSR longer and Poly less. If you can afford it without stressing yourself out... then go and enjoy it! I know you are planning to spend time at the resorts, and that IMO justifies a nicer resort. If you were going commando (ha ha) in the parks everyday, that would be different.

I really think you are overthinking your vaca at this point. Don't let things such as resorts and ADRs ruin your well-deserved vacation! Just think how wonderful it will be in 6 days to relax in the warm Florida sun, swaying in a hammock and sipping something fruity! Have a Bahama Mama for me!

Tracy, I agree with Kathy. If you are going to worry about it during your vacation, maybe you should see if you can switch to CSR for more nights. I would try to stay at the poly one or two nights as well. It's my dream to stay there one day.

NOT insensitive at all. We all have to live our own lives, just 'cause you are going when others can't shouldn't take away from your happiness for your own trip. You go and have a GREAT time.:)

Again, Kathy has said it perfectly.:goodvibes

Tracy, you are NOT insensitive. It is not your fault that we have two kids in college with very high tuition bills, or that we have some credit card debt because we paid for my dad's cremation and some bills he had and are helping my mom out. It happens to the best of us and we are dealing with it. It's not like Mark and I have never been to Disney--we've been over 20 times together and we know we'll be back next year or hte year after that.

We are having a blast helping you plan your trip. And you've earned and deserve to have this special time with "your" Mark. So please...do not hesitate to post questions or concerns. And if we can help we will do so.

Tracy
Just wanted to reiterate – please don’t stress out anymore. You should go and have the time of your lives. I’ve so much enjoyed joining this thread and getting to know you all, and helping out in a small way in the planning of your trip. There is a lot of fun and enjoyment in just being able to share in the planning process – we all love Disney – and knowing that you will be there shortly, brings happiness to all of us. You GO GIRL!!:cool1:

 I do this whenever I book a deluxe too - it is a lot of money, without a doubt, but if it will make the trip very special and you can swing, try not to doubt your decision.

I agree with Kathy....so won't repeat what she wrote. :thumbsup2

And, my sweet friend, you are NOT a dork!!!! We LOVE being armchairs travelers with or we would not have stayed for the long haul and become friends. We all know you wish we could be planning a trip too - because we know that it makes it special to be here for you...and tag-a-long.

AND, don;t think we won't be here waiting for your return....we'll want to hear all about it -- next best thing to going ourselves!! ::yes::

Wow!!!
You pickles were talkative!!!
We "took the day off" and went to Lancaster yesterday! Had a great time!

Janet...thanks for the camp links..looks like I missed everything for this year, but maybe next year.

Tracy...If you feel like staying at th e Poly will hurt you financially, then cut back....BUT you were originally booked at the WL honeymoon suite for the WHOLE trip, right??? I'm sure you are spending quite a bit less on your split stay as you have it now than you were on that. If you can afford it, keep it as is, and ENJOY.

Thanks for all your suggestions and kind words, everyone. You are good friends and I love you. :grouphug: Thank you for supporting me.

I have had a migraine all day and have been sick to my stomach from nerves. I'm surprised I haven't crashed the Disney site from plugging in different scenarios trying to calculate what the heck we want to do. :sad2: When I first booked all this stuff my main concern was a dream vacation. Well, dreams are sometimes just that, right? It would be wise for us to go with less splurging than I was trying to plan. Life can't be perfect right? :confused3

I have to call tonight with my decision. And I have no clue what I am going to do. I hope the lines are open late.

Tracy, I understand this so well...but I do wish you would not get so stressed out about it..wherever you stay it will be special and wonderful! AND if you go with a less expensive resort maybe the money you save can allow for nicer dining options? We've done that before..yes, it's been hard to cancel (it was GF for me that trip), but I got over it pretty quick and was far more relaxed.

I hope this happens for you too. Love ya, my friend!!

Well, I'm in a real pickle now. CSR does not have standard rooms left for the entire stay. I refuse to pay an extra $254 for a king sized bed. (that's three awesome meals at Fulton's!!) Hubby told me he would love to cuddle in a double bed with me. That could be either ACK! :scared1: or Awwwww  I haven't decided yet...

ETA. Are you still by yourself?
