Well, I appreciate your input. I guess I am just feeling a tad guilty about being out of school myself for those days, but I have an excellent sub and assistant and I even have a student teacher this year! I am sure those kids will be in good hands.


Not feeling quite so guilty now.

As the other pickles said, you know your kids the best and as far as your "school" kids, they will still be thinking of their summer vacation and be happy they have a sub already

Little late to respond, but I agree with everyone else. If your boss didn't mind you being out, and approved the vaca, then go for it. To heck with what everyone else thinks!

Wynn never wants to know my obsessive planning details. He says just tell him where to go when we get there. Everyday is a new surprise... which park, where we eat... even if I remembered to pack his boxers!

Good morning to all my pickles this fine Thursday morning.

Well, Tracy, you are getting to that ONE WEEK point. How exciting for you...even if your grumpy husband won't wear Eeyore ears. Did you show him Mark in his? Um, nevermind...that might not be the best way to win him over. How is mom doing?

And what is everyone else doing today? I'm at work. I have to call youngest DS's college and argue with them because they never sent me a financial package and tuition is due in three weeks. Yeah...right!

BUT after a all this...we decided to cancel. I called and emailed the Inn this afternoon to cancel.It was a great idea, but became too costly. We will do some day trips while Lynne is here and maybe one overnight to Asheville...although she does not like the mountains, so maybe not!

No vacation for me. Oh, well...another time.

Okay guys... I have my own little pickle.... Here goes..

So you know we booked 9/7-9/10 at BCV as a surprise to our girls, right?
I am not telling hardly anyone here.. multiple reasons, but mostly because some of the other teachers I work with can be ummmmmm, nosy and ugly.... there I said it and I feel much better now!

So, yesterday I had lunch with my two team members on the Kindergarten team and they are not ugly or nasty or anything but wonderful. I decided to tell them and one said, "oooo, that is the first week of school." Well, it really isn't.. it is the second. But then I started feeling bad. I am okay with my kids being out, but should I be out the second week. We have that Monday off, so it would be Tues, Weds. Thurs. and I would be there on Friday. My oldest dd might freak out a little when she finds out, but I am going to contact her teachers ahead of time. They are all straight A kids who cause zero trouble at school. Home... welllllll let's say... sisters... lol

I think that as long as it's not against policy for teachers to take vacations during the year, and your boss is ok with it, then go!!!

That reminds me of our first family trip in 2002. Chris was 2. I was so busy making sure I had packed all the baby supplies, enough clothes for him, Brian, etc, that I forgot to pack undies for myself!!! Fortunately, I discovered it as son as we un-packed and headed over to the shops in the Poly, where we were staying. They didn't have any. Fortunately, a VERY nice CM discreetely called around and found some over at the GF for me....what a first purchase in WDW!

Tucker and I went to the beach with extended family when he was 3. I was packing everything so carefully. I get down there and open my suitcase... there are stuffed animals where my shirts had been so carefully stacked. I ended up with several beach T's from the local Wings!

Yes, they are around the hub in front of the castle by the Walt/Mickey Mouse statue. I always get mine taken with Pluto.
