Have you ever driven down??? I'm debating this for our next family trip, but they all think I'm nuts. We would stop one night down and back too, but I thought it could be someplace fun, somewhere the kids have never seen ... My hubby might consider it if we put BBQ eateries in our trip ticket!

We used to drive to Florida every year and we'd stop two nights because the kids were little. They didn't fly until the trip we took in 2000; ever since then we've flown. Some wonderful Diser offered to transfer 1000 miles to us, but it is the wrong airline.

Kathy... sorry to hear that your trip isn't going like you want. What about going somewhere within driving distance, or closer at least? You could look into Virginia Beach or NC Outer Banks. Maybe a flight into RDU would be cheaper, then rent a car and be at the beach in 3 hours.

Whew.... I can't keep up!!!

My principal has said before that my days are my days. And I looked at the calendar and it is actually the third week of school So, I feel a tad better about that.

I'll tell you this.. I am ready to get to Florida on Saturday and see my oldest daughter. I feel like she had been gone most of the summer and I miss her. She is a great kid and I spend a lot of time with her and I miss her!

On another funny note.. my middle daughter and her BFF had a little bake sale and lemonade stand today....and they made...... $71!!!!!!!! Jeeze... maybe I should open one up!

Ha, well you won't be hearing me ever say those words! That's a regional thing. I don't even know where it originates, actually. I think it sounds ridiculous. Where do people come up with this stuff anyways? lol It's the same thing as saying, "I've never been." Um, you've never been what? A monkey? Pretzel? It drives me nuts!

Uh...I think I'm going to open a lemonade stand!! $71?!?! That's crazy! Good for them. They must be so proud of themselves.

Oh, I can relate! I should have had a yard sale ten years ago! I wanted to have one before we went away but too lazy.

Alright NC pickles... how bad was that storm last night at your house? It woke me up about 2am because the flash of lightening was so bright! It lightened (sp?) here almost constantly from 2-2:45, and the thunder was shaking the house. Some of that thunder was so loud and sharp that I jumped up to be sure a tree didn't fall! And the most amazing thing... Avery slept right through it all. But she did come to my bed about 6:30 with a bad dream... can't get a night alone after all.

Going tomorrow at lunchtime to pick up Tucker from camp. They are having a rocket launch of the rockets they built to show their skills for the parents, then a closing program. I'm sure he had a great time, but he will be exhausted tomorrow night. Avery has been missing him terribly. And I am spending SO much time entertaining her this week... played more Wii and card games than I can count. I can't even get away from her at night... she shows up in my bed around 3am with nightmares. My poor kids just don't like any kind of change!

Kathy...good luck with that Airfare! I'm assuming you are going out of Chicago...what airport do you fly into for San Marco? I get all kinds of airfare deal emails....I'll let you know what I see...oh what dates???

The camp sounds cool, Samantha will be finished with Band Camp next week (it's at our local middle school). I'm kind of at the mercy of my friend who takes care of her during the work day. We were going to do a "farm" camp locally, to see how life was at the turn of the century, taking care of animals, milking, etc. but my friend decided she couldn't do it.

I just checked Southwest, and they have $69 each way for your dates, pretty much any flight time you want!
It is out of Midway, but tell Mark I said to deal with it!

I'm not good with directions...so not sure where Ft. Lauderdale is from Marco Island. I know we can fly into Ft. Myers which is right there or Orlando or Tampa--which is about 3 hours from Marco (and the car is actually cheaper in Orlando or Tampa than it is Ft. Myers).

Tampa is $75 each way on Southwest.
Orlando was more...$117 down and $79 home

Ft Lauderdale is over on the Eastern coast, looks about straight across on the Map. Maybe check the mileage and see if you are better there or Tampa. (and rental car prices..It's cheaper to fly to Ft. Lauderdale, but if the car is a lot more, Tampa makes sense.)

She's having a lazy day. We were supposed to go picking raspberries tomorrow but she is going to pass. I'll get some for her if it doesn't rain. 80% chance of it though. It's been crappy all week. We've had four full days of sun in four weeks. It's ridiculous.
