Pickle part II

Hey, thanks Tracy! Actually, I'm feeling pretty good today ... woke up this mornin', didn't have to come into work until 1pm ... My friend couldn't watch my DD (Samantha) today, so I got to bring her to band camp this AM and got her lunch, before heading in. Now if all days coulnd be this like ... and I get to play on the DIS a little more today ... not so busy today. All and all a GREAT DAY!

Hi to all the pickles!!:goodvibes

That does sound like an easy, good day. Good for you! :) I wish my kid would go to camp, but nooooooooooo. She'll have none of it. Grrr.

Janet, so good to hear you are feeling better today. :) Do you work until 9 p.m.? NO, thank goodness, 5pm

Kathy - hope work is better for you today as well...I cannot believe it's already Wednesday..

OH!! Hey, I have a pickle decision and could sure use some opinions ASAP - you all know we're going to Savannah for 2 ngts....well, originally we book the Holiday Inn Express - it's #1 rated on Trip Advisor, great location, decent rate, 2 queen beds. BUT the last week new reviews have not been so great and the main thing we've noticed that would make a difference for us is guest service - poor to terrible. Also valet parking is a $15 a day charge, no opt out. http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hotel/savex

So we went through LOADS of B&B reviews (as we did for hotels) and decided on this one:
http://zeiglerhouseinn.com/savannah-bed-breakfast-lafayette.html - this is the room we would have...more photos under the large one. It does not have a hot breakfast but rather the night before the owner delivers fresh baked goods to your room and the fridge is stocked with cold drinks, water, snacks etc. Also a fresh baked goodie in the evening. Centrally located, but not as good as the Holiday Inn Ex.

Today we've been having second thoughts - if we cancel the Inn it must be done TODAY or we get charged for a one ngt stay. $200. It also include free parking and a parking pass. A very charming area of the historic district. Oh, the Inn does not have 2 beds, so we'll have to share a king, but we can survive that...well, there is a love seat that is a twin bed, but that doesn't sound too comfy for either of us.

If we cancel the B&B we will save $50.

Okay, my friends..have a look and let me know your thoughts, please? Thank you!!!

Christine, I like them both for different reasons ... I have never stayed in a B&B, it looks so quaint, and beautiful ... and I like the fact you have a private entrance, and no parking fees .. BUT, the HI express looks very nice, I agree with Kathy, I wouldn't listen to Trip Advisor (Heck, I didn't even know about this site before posting on these boards!). I would go with what qualities I liked best at each and decide. It sounds like the HI is closer to everything? And you get a queen bed to yourself ... can you walk to shops in the HI hotel? What a dilemma! See, I'm no help at all, but whatever you both choose, will be the right one.:goodvibes

Well, you know what my answer will be...

That does sound like an easy, good day. Good for you! :) I wish my kid would go to camp, but nooooooooooo. She'll have none of it. Grrr.

This is the first year going to band camp, she just started taking the flute this past year (she had taken the violin since first grade and gave it up!! It broke my heart, but kids gotta do what makes them happy, right?).

She's always been one to be a little shy and reserved, she is a young soon to be sixth grader -- it also helps that her friend goes to camp too.

I actually love being able to drive her around, I miss it terribly since going back to work full-time last June. We always have the greatest conversations while in the car. Oh well, helps pay for those Disney trips ....:rolleyes1

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, he was wearing his Grumpy t-shirt when I yelled at him last night.

Poor Marky my big, fat a**!!!! :lmao::lmao:
:lmao:
Grrr. That is annoying. I think I *will* deck him when he walks in the door tonight!! :thumbsup2 Just because. :rotfl2:
:lmao:
Next time, for his own safety, tell him to whip out the Eeyore ears. ::yes:: There is no way I could look at that and not bust out laughing. NO WAY!
Good point!
I've gotten a lot of headaches over the years, the kind where I,m nauseous, and I have to just be in the dark. Yesterday's was definitely tension, although all headaches just suck! I went home and went to bed and feel so much better today.:)
I'm glad you are feeling better!
He put the ears on the other night when Andy's girlfriend was over. She didn't believe he really wore them, so he wore them all night around the house. I thought the poor girl was going to you know what in her pants. She was laughing so hard I thought she would fall off the bed...and she's a tiny little thing...all 5'0" of her and 100 pounds! Look, there's a reason NOT to like Nicole...she's short and skinny! :rotfl:
:lmao:
Serves him right then:laughing:

Hey Kathy, why don't you take do one of those timeshare talks? Never done one, but if you can give them 2 hours, I believe you can get a free admission ticket.
Yeah, but I've never heard of them actually getting out of there in the 2 hrs.

I'm sorry I'm so late today, my pickle friends.

This may have already been answered, but I...oh dear...skimmed.

Because I'm a nut about added tx and always book room only it's one of those trivia questions I happen to know.

12.5%, 13% for the All Star Resorts. I heard it is also 13% for AKL, but not 100% sure about that.

Sooo, tell me about the codes around and saving money for a Girls Trip????

OHHHH...I SO NEED A GIRLS TRIP!!!! ...sigh...;)

SKIMMER!!!!

Ok...I crunched #'s, and it's basically a wash....The difference was $ 187.95, BUT I used the "standard" WL room, and we have woodsview bunks booked now, which is a higher price. Plus there is trip insurance in there too. So it may end up being a few dollars less, but certainly not enough to pay for a girls trip, and really not even worth the hassle of trying to switch it. I'm thinking it will come to about $20 either way in the end.
Hmm....didn't know that. I'll have to look into that. But not sure DH wants to do one of those talks--we did one once in Vegas and he HATED it. He'd definitely would have to be wearing his Grumpy shirt then....probably the one that says "I'm with Dopey" -- which would, obviously, be me since I'm the one he's going with. :rotfl::rotfl:
And if they try an keep you longer, Mark can put on the Eeyore ears, you can put on a silly hat too, and you can say, "sorry...we're clinically insane, and cannot sign a contract. Please give us our tickets now."

I don't know...I love B&B's...more character...I'll check out the website, and let you know what I think. Like any review site...I'd take Trip Advisor's with a grain of salt. It seems like most places end up with a few VERY great reviews and then a bunck of crappy ones.

Okay, Pickles. I'm leaving the office and heading out to get the train and then my nails done. I'll be back later tonight. Don't do anything I wouldn't do. ;)

Lucky! I would love to get my nails done. Sigh. I have a hair appointment next week. Hopefully my rotten silver hair will take colour. Grrr.

Oh, and I'm having a really REALLY fat day. :(

I've been having "fat days" for the last week. I couldn't button my pants last night which really ticked me off and made me very :sad:

I have a fat life! I need to take off about 10 pounds before fall gets here, or I'll have to buy new jeans. :sad2:

I think you should NOT do the dining plan, but keep your ADR's and then just "wing" it while you are there. Cancel the ones you don't want to do once you get there, and keep the others. I don't want you being stressed on your trip...I want you to ENJOY yourself.

I agree :thumbsup2 100%.

I've gotten a lot of headaches over the years, the kind where I,m nauseous, and I have to just be in the dark.

Classic migraine. I get those about every 3-4 weeks - usually hormonal. I can be OK while laying down and its reasonably quiet, but have to throw up everytime I get up to do anything.

And where has Christine been today? And Kari hasn't been around for a day or two? Have we been desserted? :confused3

I'm here! I dropped in last night for a bit... took me about 30 min to catch up! Been busy here this week, and having to share the computer with Avery.

Hey!! Ya know silver hair ain't all bad!!!!!

Thanks for the feedback on the Inn/Hotel. we only use Trip Advisor for certain information - we are very discerning and take it all into perspective. i.e. A hotel must have over a 100 reviews, with many recent and we read all levels of reviews, so we get a balanced idea if it may be a fit for us. This has always worked well for me. :)

BUT after a all this...we decided to cancel. I called and emailed the Inn this afternoon to cancel. It was a great idea, but became too costly. We will do some day trips while Lynne is here and maybe one overnight to Asheville...although she does not like the mountains, so maybe not!:rotfl:

No vacation for me. Oh, well...another time. ::yes::

Thanks again!!!:flower3:

I know. You are beeyootiful with your silver hair. :)

That's too bad about your trip, but may be best in the end, no? Asheville is lovely. I would go there with you in a heartbeat!

Sorry you had to cancel your trip.

Tracy, this is for you. I was looking for a picture of my dad that a local restaurant wants to hang on their "wall of fame" and I came across these from 2006 on the discs I was looking at:

OMG. :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Now you've gone and done it. Oh muh bellay is a jigglin'. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! :lmao: :thumbsup2 I love it!!!! Heeeeeeeeeeee.

Okay guys... I have my own little pickle.... Here goes..

So you know we booked 9/7-9/10 at BCV as a surprise to our girls, right?
I am not telling hardly anyone here.. multiple reasons, but mostly because some of the other teachers I work with can be ummmmmm, nosy and ugly.... there I said it and I feel much better now!

So, yesterday I had lunch with my two team members on the Kindergarten team and they are not ugly or nasty or anything but wonderful. I decided to tell them and one said, "oooo, that is the first week of school." Well, it really isn't.. it is the second. But then I started feeling bad. I am okay with my kids being out, but should I be out the second week. We have that Monday off, so it would be Tues, Weds. Thurs. and I would be there on Friday. My oldest dd might freak out a little when she finds out, but I am going to contact her teachers ahead of time. They are all straight A kids who cause zero trouble at school. Home... welllllll let's say... sisters... lol

I was thinking maybe I should book for later. BUT we did get 3 days at BCV and every dang dining reservation we wanted....

What do you think?
