hey everyone,
I know that i had read on a thread that some of you try to pick things up every week before your trip so that you are not spending a lot right before the trip....and I am wanting to do this also and I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on things to pick up and to have ahead of time.....I am leaving in August and it is me, my DH and my 2 yo DS...thanks for the great advice as usual.....thanks guys.

We're going mid-June and yes, I'm already creating a Disney pile. I don't know if buying early saves me money, though--I think I just buy more! So far in my purchased-for-Disney pile are: 4 99cent ponchos, 2 personal fans, 2 fanny packs, one kids Mickey sunglasses, 4 bottles of sunscreen, and 1 travel size hand sanitizer. I like looking at the pile, though--gets me in the Disney mood!

film and disposable cameras,
sunscreen,
hats and sunglasses,
wipes for my fanny pack,
fanny pack,
snacks,
travel umbrella,
rain ponchos,
autograph books (bought on ebay),
travel size lotions,powders,etc.
camelbacks w/ backpacks
stuff for the kids to do for the drive (coloring books, etc.)
and anything else that strikes me as useful - or cute (bought mini Mickey Mouse playing cards at AC Moore)

Just a few ideas for you......Have a great trip!!

Just looking for shopping tips myself. One that I hadn't thought about with a two year old is bringing swim diapers.

Film / memory cards (since they are expensive and I can spread out the cost of that)
sunsreen/afterburn care
sunglasses
ponchos/rain gear
hand sanitizer
stamps for postcards
asprin/aleeve or something like that for DH
non-persihable snacks for the room (rice-crispy teats, small fruit snacks, etc)

Disinfectant wipes to wipe down Phone, TV Controller door knobs ect.... Walmart usually has them in a pack of 10 I believe in the checkout lines.

If you have kids:

Lollipops for the kids for takeoff & Landing for there ears.

Small bottle of dishsoap to wash sippy cups, Bottles Ect..

Disposible cameras for each one of the kids so they can take there own pictures.

There is much more that I bring but these are things easily forgotten.

I have a big Rubbermaid tote bin that is labeled WDW stuff!!! In it are...
all fanny packs
disposable ponchos from the dollar store
previous Mickey ponchos
water bottle lanyards
disp. cameras
detergent/softener sheets
hand sanitizer
suntan lotion
hats
mister fans
fold up laundry bin
DIS shirts/buttons
Disney beach towels
Disney holiday hats

THere is much more but I forget what's in there until I check it out just before our trip. Almost time to do just that.....

One thing I've seen that's missing from the posts thus far - batteries. If you are bringing a camera or other device that uses disposable batteries, buy them before you come to WDW. You'll find they are very expensive on property.

What a great idea! Now that I am in the mood, I think I'll go my own WDW tote and start filling it! :teeth:

We leave in a month and I've been picking things up here and there. So far in my Disney tub, I have some breakfast bars, glow necklaces, new video now discs (for the car ride), a stuffed Stitch to tuck into ds's bed at the resort, two Disney hand held fans, bottled water for the room.

I also have a large bag of stuff to pack that I keep adding to and am counting down the days until I can start putting them into the suitcases. My DH would shoot me if I started packing the suitcases "too soon." What I've done is I created our packing list and highlighted everything that we already have and that left me with a shopping list of everything else that I needed to buy. Now when I pick up something I toss it in the bag and highlight it on the main packing list. I also keep a running to-do list that I includes the items to be purchased and the tasks to be completed i.e. order gifts from DTD to have ready and waiting for us when we get there.

I've got my stack started, too :flower:

Add vitamins, I take this stuff that comes in individual envelopes called "Emergen-C" which I swear keeps us from getting sick at WDW. I also pack some Airborne in my carry-on to take before getting on the airplane, keep away those bugs that fly around in the ventilation system.

I too just started putting things aside today..don't forget any swim gear like water wings, water shoes, etc. I also always pack a wine bottle opener as I usually enjoy a glass of wine in the evenings and some ziploc bags for any left over snacks or even for wet swim suits before having to pack to head home :sad1: . I also have started putting some clothes in suit cases :teeth: ...I'm just too excited not to do it  !!! I always get so excited..like a child who has never been there before!! I just love seeing my children's faces when we are there :lovestruc , they just love the characters, rides and overall neat places within WDW :flower: !!!!

what about those space saver bags that "shrink wrap" your clothes, towels etc. They make more room in your case for all the new goodies you will buy!!

That would be great, but how would you "shrink" the bag before you left? Don't you need a vaccum to do that? :confused3

I always make a long list of everything we will need from shampoo and deoderant to camera batteries and Lysol usually when we book the trip! Then I watch for sales and specials-pick up different items and check them off and put them in the "bin". One year, I realized I hardly spent any money on the items b/c I got most when they were buy one get one free! I used the one and tossed the free one in the bin. By buying a little bit at a time, not only do we find it saves money, it also is nice not to shell out cash right before you leave for vacation. And, its fun to browse through the bin knowing everything in it is for your upcoming disney trip.

Space saver makes bag that you roll the air out of so no vacuum needed. I just bought a box of them and will be trying them out on an overnight trip in a couple weeks so I can let you know how well they work then.

:hourglass BUY THE BATTERIES WEEKS AHEAD OF TIME!!!

dear lord! dont forget the batteries wether they're for the camera, CD PLayer, personal fan etc...
