Hi everyone,

We are looking to book a rental car for our upcoming trip to Disney. We are traveling with another couple, but they are on a different flight than us, and will be arriving an hour before us.

My questions is: is it allowed/okay for them to pick up the rental car, even though the reservation is under my boyfriend's name?

We are hoping to book through Alamo, if that makes a difference.

I don't think it will work. Rental car agencies usually want the person who's name it is under to get the car.Not to mention the other driver charges. There are rental car companies that charge extra for non- family drivers.

Why not just put the rental in their name, then?

Nope, the person who's name is on the ressie has to pick it up and the credit card has to match the person renting. Also, the additional driver, if any, has to be present also.

Thanks for your input everyone! We will make sure we all go to pick up the rental car together.

We couldn't put the reservation in their name because I am the one with the Alamo Insiders discount. (Although I guess we could just get them to sign up for Insiders themselves, lol)

If the reservation is in your boyfriend's name then he better be an insiders member too.

There's the chance that the price could be more if your friends picked up the car an hour earlier too.

We just rented from Alamo in Myrtle Beach with my name on the contract. When we got there we had my BIL listed as the second driver since I'm an Insider and then we used his VISA card to get the lose of use coverage. I'm wondering now if they might have thought he was my husband since we have the same last name.

Can I ask a question: the reservation is in my name and I am an Insider's members but we are planning on listing my bf as the driver and our other friend as well (there's another couple traveling with us). That won't be a problem as long as I'm there with them when checking in, right?

Good call Donna! I never thought of that. I'm just going to make them wait for us to all go pick up the car together. :yay:

Just book the car in your boyfriends name - have him sign up as an Insider, much easier IMO.

There is no restriction on the additional driver with Alamo, it could be a parakeet as long as it had a valid license. I am, however, surprised they took his credit card, it is supposed to be in the name of the primary driver.

Should not be a problelm as long as they have valid licenses. You will incur a charge for the 2nd additional driver. If you use the counter there will be no problem if you are not all in the car, however, if you use the kiosk, all the drivers will need to be in the car at the exit booth and you will all need to show your license. You as primary will be required to show a credit card as well. You, as the person renting the car will be listed as the main driver, the bf and friend will be additional drivers.
