My family is taking SW from Raleigh to Orlando on 5/27. Taking ME to POFQ. We are staying until 6/4. Since we won't be in a big hurry to get home (10 hour drive from WDW to home), I was thinking about taking the ME to the airport to pick up a rental car. Drive the rental home and turn it in in High Point on 6/5. I found a one-way rental van for just over $100. That will save me about $300 airfare.

Question is...can I take ME back to MCO even though I don't have a flight scheduled?

Thanks!! :)

Did you check the "local" locations (Lake Buena Vista, Kissimmee, Celebration) for the car rental company? I found found them to usually be cheaper than the airport many will pick you up from your resort.

Haven't checked Lake Buena Vista lately, but last time I compared the prices, it was cheaper at MCO. I'll check again. I'm renting through carrentals.com. They have FANTASTIC prices!!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check right now! :flower3:

AFAIK, carrentals.com doesn't really have it's own codes. I think they use standard codes available to everyone. You might be able to find the codes they used on your reservation or if you click on the "update" link on the reservation. Then, use that code to plug into the website for the LBV location.

They don't check if you are on the flight. Just give them a flight # around the time you want to leave (allowing 3 hours).

I typed in Lake Buena Vista and it gave me rates for the entire Orlando area. The rates around WDW, Hilton, etc... were quite a bit higher for vans. OK rates on mid-size cars.

I've decided to keep my fingers crossed for airfare sale on SW! :wizard:

Thanks Debbie! That sounds easy enough! I didn't think they checked. I guess we'll have to take our luggage on ME with us... ;)
