First off, my TA always calls me Sue, and all my travel docs say Sue instead of Suzanne. She is telling me that i might have to pay a fee to get my name corrected...

second off it says all transportation to the port is declined. Wrong again as we paid one way from the pier to the airport on our return.

What gets me is that she says she really checked the documents out carefully and everything was in order. Go figure. I doubt that I am going to use her again for anything!

thanx for letting me vent.

Sue
My mom named me Tonimarie However my birth certificate says Toni Mari and my DL says Toni M. I have never had a problem.I would call DCL directly though and make sure. It is at least a form of your name so it shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't pay for the name change either. She made the mistake she should take care of it.

okay, i am whining now. I just called DCL to ask if I could board with the documents saying Sue and she said that she was not able to access my reservation since it was made through a TA, and that i would have to talk to her about it...Gee Whiz, i paid for the cruise, and i am the customer, regardless of if i went through a TA or not, shouldn't i be allowed info about my reservation?

Yes, I absolutely agree with you, you should be able to get basic information from DCL. I strongly agree that we should also have the ability to view our basic information from the DCL Online Quote system where it has an option for 'check your reservation'. It would actually decrease the number of calls they'd receive.

About your name on the cruise Docs - I remember reading on these boards that as long as DCL has the correct spelling of your name on the manifest, it's Ok for you to cruise with Documents that are different. My DW has a name in a similar manner to Dis4me and she has always been Ok to sail. In fact, our documents for this cruise show her first name to be different too.

hope that helps

My Aunt was incorrectly labelled Mrs. when she is a Miss on her confirmation letter. I am assuming her docs will say Mrs. Should she call and change it? Is it a big deal?

When a TA makes the reservation they "own" that reservation and no one but them can access it. While it may seem like a royal pain to you it makes sense to the TA so that no changes can be made to it unless they make them. This way when the time comes they have all the info necessary to provide to the clients. A good Ta will double check everything before the final documents are sent out. If you give them a nickname from your original name they should also check with the correct spelling and name as well. She should have asked if your real name was Susan or Suzanne. that was definitely her fault.

prymsu,
I had a question about my reservation also. I called DCL
and a Rep. said they could not help me I would need to call my TA.
I hung up the phone and called back. I then spoke to someone that assisted me. They do have access to you reservations I just gave them the rez no. I wanted to be canceled off the WL for main seating. (this is when the rumor of changing late seating to 8 or 745p) My TA was on vacation for a week and I was afraid I might clear the WL ( I couldn't stand the thought of eating at 5:30 !) So anyhow! They canceled me off the WL and I let my TA know what I did. Give them a call and let them know you are concerned and need some advice.-LM :)

jlmcantwait, you see, i don't feel that i should have to keep calling back until I get someone who will provide me my info. This is not consistent, and to me not a really good business practice or customer service...just my thoughts. I did provide my ressie number, so I had that, plus my room number, plus my CC return cruiser number. when i called I did express concern and said i was calling for advice, but that made no difference...

This is why I deal direct with DCL - you can go right to the source with questions - no middle man. TA's can be harder to deal with/through.

I hope you get your issues resolved. Good luck and remember, once you're on the cruise...none of this will matter!

I completely agree with you....but as a person who has worked
in a rez office I hate to admit there are some agents that are difficult....no matter what industry you are in. If you are getting nowhere with your agent unfortunately you have no choice but to do it yourself. It stinks but atleast your problem will be resolved. L

You might want to call DCL and ask to speak to a supervisor. We had to make a change to our reservation and later discovered there was a problem. When we talked to the rep who answered the phone she said there was nothing she could do. We then spoke with a supervisor who was much more understanding. She promised to try and correct the problem and called us back 2 days later to let us know everything was all set.

Might be worth a shot......

thanx for all the support guys. My TA and I just talked. She said that she would take care of getting new documents issued.

Disneykids, thanx for putting the issue in perspective for me. I think I feel better now that I know I am not being charged for the updated documents.

prymsu - Good news. I'm glad it's all worked out.

Enjoy, we all know you will!

She should have asked if your real name was Susan or Suzanne. that was definitely her fault

And I would be fuming if she said I had to pay to have it changed!! There should be no charge!!

btw, I love the name Suzanne!

I made my reservation through a TA and called DCL yesterday and they accesed my reservation using my last name, confirmed my seating for dinner, told me my cabin # and said I should call back today to book any excursions. I leave Nov. 10. Good Luck

I am new to the DIS Forum and Disney Crusing, but not new to crusing. We will be sailin on the Magic the end of Jan/03.

We have always booked through a TA, not the cruise line. On all of our cruises, where there was an online reservation system available, we were able to access it. From what I have read here, you can only use the DCL online reservation system, if you have booked directly with DCL. Is this right, or do I just not understand DCL.

Also I see a lot of people who have booked through DCL. What is the advantage of doing this, with all other cruise lines it is better to book with a TA?

Sue

SJM, that's correct, if you book directly with Disney you can access your reservation online. Reservations booked through TAs are only accesible to the TA online.

Good TAs are there to make your life easier and they should be the ones dealing with the cruise line on behalf of clients. I'm glad your TA got your document issue taken care of, Sue. :)

I am not the Sue who has the document problem. I am also glad her TA has the problem taken care of.

Hubby and I have been on 10 cruises, Disney will be our 11th. I see no reason to ever book through the cruise line Disney or not. I am curious why, when dealing with Disney, so many people book through the cruise line.

Sjm, I know you're not the Sue (prymsu). :) That's why I called you by different names, it get's confusing, LOL! :)

I think folks who deal directly with Disney just want that extra bit of control. They are definitely giving up any discounts available with TAs, and other services that TAs offer, but for some folks that's okay, that's what they want. It's nice that DCL offers both the option of booking directly or using a TA. :)

well i am not so worked up now that i am getting my documents corrected. The thing that worried me is thatthere is such a crack down on IDs matching travel document, which is a good thing overall. I am generally a worry wart, and it makes me nervous that I could possibly be turned away for now having ID that matched up with the travel documents.

In case I haven't said it in a while, you guys on this board are the greatest!
