The nighttime view of DD from SSR is spectacular. The lights across the lake really look great and enhance the view from our balcony.

The PI New Years Eve Celebration just ended and we couldn't hear anything from inside the room. From the balcony, the fireworks were fun (and they only last about 2 minutes anyway).

They have done a great job positioning the building and soundproofing the villas. There is special glass in the balcony doors. Studios have no windows (just the balcony) and the BR windows in 1BR and 2BR villas all have the soundproof glass ... and it seems to work well.

Enjoy!

Thanx for the pics and update, Doc. I can't wait to see for myself!

Good to have you back, and hope all is going well...

Thanks, Doc. DH and I have read that soundproofing was in place but wondered if it would really work. (We stayed in villas years ago and noise was a problem.) Now we have another option for DVC stays.
Jean

P.S. How cool is that--you posted immediately!

Beautiful picture Doc!

The play by play is amazing! All we need now is to do some streaming video!

Can't wait till we are at WDW...only 9 more days!

Doc,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post the pictures and report on SSR....It makes it all seem real now!

If you don't mind me asking...what type of camera are you using?? Your pictures are fantastic!

Thanks again and I wish your family well.

Carol

Hi Doc, are you using the high speed internet or dial up? i am bring my laptop and it has a wireless networking, are there any hot spots , or will i have to go with the high speed internet

Thanks, Doc! December is a very long time to wait to see all of this!!! (I sound like my kids used to sound)

Thanks Doc. I'm still newbie, and was nervous we s/h bought into OKW (as we've stayed there as renters), but you've put so many of my reservations to rest. so glad it's soundproof. Thanks again!!!!

I've been using dialup, but the desk in the bedroom has a network jack. I'm not aware of any hotspots at SSR for wireless. I think BCV and (maybe) BWV may have that.

My camera is an Olympus C-50 - 5 megapixel camera- although most of these pics are at a much lower resolution.

It's been great sitting out on the balcony this morning just enjoying watching the activity on the lake below. Very relaxing!

Thanks for the camera information Doc...and enjoy the rest of your vacation...I am looking forward to sitting out on the balcony come October!

Carol

Thanks Doc! Noise from PI was a big concern for me---that's one of the things that we like so much about VWL, the quiet! Now it seems that we'll have to give SSR a second look.

Really great information, Doc!

I'm not sure if I missed this -- How far is it to walk to DD? Do you end up near the Marketplace or over on the Westside?

Currently, the walk to DD is closest from this first building and I'll guess it's over 3/4 mile once you walk from your room to the parking area, across the bridge, down to the LBV Clubhouse, past the dock, across the golf cart bridge, around the DD West Side parking lot until you reach Cirque.

Once the first 4 buildings are open, there will be a paved walkway to the Marketplace end of DD and that will be less than 1/2 mile from building 1- much closer from building 4.

Hopefully Caskbill can give us a GPS report on the actual distances when he checks in here soon!
