We are Canadians and we will be in Phoenix in early April for a work trip. We are going to go to Orlando from Phoenix and are curious about airlines. We’ve only flown on United & Delta from the US carriers as we use Air Canada or WestJet usually (I am a frequent flier with AC). Looking at fares, Frontier has a direct for $400 plus all the extra fees for luggage etc. United is $655 for 1 stop. Southwest is $575 for 1 stop.

My daughter has a peanut allergy so I’m mindful of their offerings as well (I believe southwest still has peanuts where the others do not).

The reviews for Frontier online are pretty bad...what would you do?

Take advantage of earning frequent flyer miles and go with a carrier in the Star Alliance. That would be United Airlines. That $655 fare seems high though.

Phx is a large American (formally us airways) hub..check what they have to offer.

Those prices seem high to me and Phx is my base.

Please check further into this, maybe another DIS boarder can confirm, but I believe that if you notify SW of a peanut allergy, Southwest will avoid giving out nuts. I flew SW twice this year. Flying to Denver, we were offered other snacks - no nuts at all. There was a woman wearing a mask, and someone mentioned a nut allergy. We had protein bars (with nuts) for our own snacks and didn't eat them. On another SW flight, we were given nuts and pretzels.

I don't know the procedure for notifying them, but it could be worth a call if it looks like they are offering the cheapest fare from Phoenix.

There are 4 of us so those are total prices. Flying Friday April 6 so that could explain the higher prices. I did check if there were any Aeroplan reward flights I could book with united but there were not.

One way fares from PHX-MCO for 4:
Frontier is $508 (with paid cheap seats and 2 paid checked bags).
Southwest is $635 (with the paid early check in and free bags).
American is $678 nonstop (with free seats and 2 paid bags).
United (economy) is $680 1 stop (with free seats and 1 paid bag, 1 free bag).

I will call southwest to find out about nuts on the flight, thanks.

I'd go nonstop on AA for the few $$ more than Southwest. If that is total price for all 4 of you, those are good fares. The extra $40 would be worth it to me.

I'm trying to find airfare to Florida in March and am finding $450 per person. Ugh.

Well my preference is American over SW and being that your only non stop options are American or frontier that to me is a clear choice unless you have to keep the cost down.

Fares make sense now that I know it's your total.
