In the Katie Couric thread, the OP used the expression "no great shakes," and some people had never heard it before. That was one of the things my grandparents used to say and a lot of their expressions aren't used much anymore, like:
Peach - as in "He's a peach of a man." (Why was it decided that a peach was the best fruit to be?)
Here's your hat. What's your hurry?
Just my dignity - in response to "Did you get hurt when you fell?"
I wouldn't touch him with a 10-foot pole.
I know there are others, but can't think of them. What don't you hear anymore?
