Photopass Superthread!

This stinks. I wish they'd have a multi-day option too! Makes me glad we got AP's this year and I got the Signature just for the PP+ pictures.

$40/day is A LOT of money if you're doing a 5 day park visit!! That's horrible! It's cheaper to upgrade to an AP for that $200 extra just for photos! What a bad decision on Disney's part. I hope they change that.

I agree that would be crazy! Over 5 days that's as much as Memory Maker at WDW and you can use that over the full length of a 10 day ticket.

If it continues that way, our next trip will be our very first EVER to go without a Photopass.

I may ask to share the cost with my friends like many of my east-coast friends do when they go to WDW. I'm going for 4 days in October, as long as there's 3 other friends, we could each pay for a day and share the load. Wouldn't help with a family so much though. And it's one more expense to factor in for those of us who need to deal with an exchange rate.

Disneyland Resort are in a unique business situation. They have to manage demand of their products. Supply and demand determine price. Annual passes have gone up, ticket prices keep going up, they even reduce the maximum # of days for their tickets and somehow the place is still getting more crowded all the time. This is just another example of where price is going up to reduce demand. It is amazing how they have the luxury of turning away business and people still will show up!

Why would they need to reduce demand for Photopass?

I don't know - but you would think they have crunched some numbers - their website certainly wasn't doing a great job of handling the demand. I guess my point is we can be as upset as we want - just like everyone complained about the reduction to 5 day pass and the removal of the ability to add days to the pass - Disney has the luxury of being able to do what they want and not have to worry about this affecting the # of people visiting their parks or using their services. People were willing to pay $99.99 so if they really want some pictures they could buy a day or two and plan accordingly to maximize that day or days.

Does anyone know what the one time photo extension is? It's mentioned at the bottom of the page in the link.

Idk if this info is correct but on our fb page someone said, "I think the photo extension refers to the number of days you have access to the photos. They are only available for a certain number of days but you can "purchase" an extension so you can access them a little longer. But you can only purchase 1 such extension."

Yes, the purchase of a photo extension gives you a little more time (if like WDW was, either 7 or 14 days) before the photos were deleted from your Photopass account. It does not extend the number of days the photos can actually be taken.

So if PhotoPass+ is now gone... if I bought mine in October, will they still honor my pass and the service I paid for if it's discontinued? I arrive at DLR in March. I would hate to get there, and turn in my voucher and they're like "Sorry."

Others have reported back they were able to use the photopass plus they pre-ordered before it was discontinued without problem. However, I do not know if there is an end date to how long this will be honored. I think you will be fine - enjoy it!

I seriously hope you're right! With all the refurbs to our hotel, and all the refurbs in the parks... I'd be so bummed if they said no. That would totally take all the wind out of my sails.

I did read of someone who said she had no problems - she handed it in during her Character Breakfast and they brought her their photo package and the card on the lanyard - she said it was great. However, if they are not able to honor it then they'd have to refund you the money. If you want to have firm confirmation, you could call or chat with a CM on their site?

I sure hope that I can use my pre-purchased voucher. I bought ours in November, hoping to be able to use it in two weeks!! Guess I'll find out on the morning of the 30th when we go to the Plaza Inn for our Character breakfast.

All reports indicate they are still honoring the pre-ordered PP+
